Aquaman could LOTR of the deep. Could be sweet if done correctly. Need the aqua hand for sure.

Aquaman has so much potential its ridiculous. He's a child of two worlds, but home in none. He's a reluctant heir to the throne. He's got a blood-feud with his half-brother who killed his mom and his arch-enemy who killed his dad. He's like 50x stronger than a normal man and has the whole world against him, which makes him a character audiences empathize with. All that PLUS the beyond huge range of epicness the mythology of Atlantis brings and the amazing visuals that come with an underwater world.

96% of the ocean is still unexplored. Which means they can tap into that dark mystery of the unknown.

AQUAMAN = A MUST FOR THE DCCU

My current vote for Aquaman goes to Sam Clafin. The dude reminded me so much of Arthur while I was watching Catching fire. He not only looked the part and had the physical build but he fought with a trident and specialized in fighting in water.

JatevinM - 12/1/2013, 3:49 PM
batz11@ Paul Walker didn't even look the part of Aquaman.

@Batmaniac
"Aquaman would not benefit from a lighthearted tone one bit. He is quite the serious guy in the New 52, so its obvious that's the direction they are heading for Aquaman. Aquaman will more than likely have the same tone as The Dark Knight and Man Of Steel, as will the rest of the DC movies and shows, considering Arrow also has the same tone."

Agreed, Aquaman and his world need to be taken seriously. The whole thing has been lighthearted for decades before, that's how he got turned into a joke to begin with. Aquaman, Batman, Wonder Woman (to some extent) and Martian Manhunter are usually the more serious members of the League so it makes sense. In MOS I thought Superman was pretty lighthearted (wise-cracks) and can be serious when necessary, as he should be. It was just the world around him that was dark because it was a realistic setting. Bring me a New 52 Aquaman and DC/WB will be golden.

I really want an Aquaman movie, but I want a Wonder Woman movie first. DC has all the cards to set themselves up as the ones who changed the CBM game forever. Wonder Woman needs to be the first female superhero in a solo movie in this new era of CBM and it should happen before Aquaman and before Marvel does it. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and a new Green Lantern movie starring John Stewart has all of the potential to set DC up as everything that critics and the audience has been asking for.

@MrFridayNight, no one said Iron Man sucked lol, where the hell did you get that assumption from? Iron Man was a fan favorite before the movie even came out. He's like Gambit from X-Men, everyone was just waiting for the character to get their shot in a film or their own film.

Aquaman, if done right, would be amazing. Casting is going to be tough. I always felt if they went the seasoned route, Brad Pitt would be pretty damn good (imagine him in Troy).

I agree Paul Walker would have been ideal for Aquaman

JatevinM - 12/1/2013, 4:52 PM
batz11@ Paul Walker looked like the movie stereotypes of a country boy. When I see Aquaman I see someone who looks like Sam Clafin, Nikolaj Coster Waldu, or Chris Hemsworth.

27ShowStopper@ During his Troy days Brad Pitt would've been freaking perfect.

Huge Aquaman fan here, Definitely Ryan Gosling for Aquaman. Compare him to the new 52 version of Aquaman.
Super12
Super12 - 12/1/2013, 5:09 PM
@JatevinM - Nikolaj Coster Waldu isn't bad, but maybe a little too old to play Arthur Curry (at least an origin film).

I say give me Garrett Hedlund, Chris Hemsworth, or Charlie Hunnam.

Ryan Gosling said in an interview he "Sort of played the superhero type in 'Drive'....stunt driver by day and 'The Driver' by night with his car as his 'costume'.....and has no interest in playing another one"

Aquaman has been getting dogged for years. It's time for the WB to show the King some love.

It'd be great to see an Aquaman film but I always feel like people will draw way too many parallels between him an Thor, especially if they use Ocean Master as a villain. But he's still an awesome character that gets way too much hate, but I gotta agree that Flash and WW definitely need to hit the big screen before he does. And pretty surprised to hear Christoph Waltz might be the villain for Pirates 5. Had no interest before but now it might be worth the watch, although he has played a villain in shitty movies before like Green Hornet and Three Musketeers. I'll reserve judgement till a trailer hits.
SilverFalcon
SilverFalcon - 12/1/2013, 5:53 PM
@batz11, Man now that you mention it Coster-Waldu would be an epic Aquaman. But I do remember hearing that he's on Marvel's radar for Zemo, wouldn't mind that either but I think he'd be more fitting as Orin. He'd make for version closer to the badass Aquaman with the hook arm and a beard.
JatevinM
JatevinM - 12/1/2013, 5:56 PM

DC/WB has to make Aquaman awesome.........most people think he's just some guy who swims around and can control sea animals.....but he's way more than that...

Now that Ant-Man character,......well I dunno. At least the director is decent
JatevinM
JatevinM - 12/1/2013, 6:22 PM
My perfect JL casting would including what we already have would be Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Afleck as Batman, Antje Traue or Lynn Collins as Wonder Woman, Idris Elba as John Stewart, Michael Rossenbaum as Barry Allen or even Wally West, Benedict Cumberbatch as Martian Manhunter in alien form and Giancarlo Esposito in human form, and Sam Clafin or Luke Evans as Aquaman. I'd also probably add in either Canary or Zatanna so that the league isn't so male heavy in which case I would cast Stana Katic or Emilia Clarke as Canary and Megan Ory, Emily Blunt, or Katie McGrath as Zatanna.

Paul Walker died yesterday in tragic accident. No disrespect intended to you but if you knew this then maybe a tad to soon to mention him in this context.
SilverFalcon
SilverFalcon - 12/1/2013, 6:44 PM
@JatvinM, Wow now that you mention in Claflin could be an awesome younger Aquaman. Depends on what version they go with it, but he's already got the whole trident thing down as Finnick in Catching Fire:
JatevinM
JatevinM - 12/1/2013, 6:50 PM
SilverFalcon@ Claffin is 27 but they could age him a few more years by simply giving him a beard. Also I think an Aquaman thats younger than Supes and Bats would go well with a Wonder Woman younger than Supes and Bats.
caroldanvers
caroldanvers - 12/1/2013, 6:52 PM
no wait, charlie hunnam needs to be ollie. he looks exactly like oliver in sons of anarchy and dude can act.

armie hammer is my choice for aquaman but i doubt he'd ever do it. nikolaj is a great second choice though! get jessica chastain for mera and boom, perfect casting. they're both so talented they'd rock an aquaman movie.
