Cobie Smulders Teases 'Different Vibe' For 'Maria Hill' In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Hit the jump and check out the latest from actress Cobie Smulders on returning as Maria Hill and working for Iron Man, as well as the increased female presence in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron

When Cobie Smulders recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss her latest film, the Canadian actress was eventually asked about reprising her Captain America: The Winter Soldier role as Maria Hill in Avengers: Age of Ultron. “There’s so many pieces to this giant puzzle, and I’m happy that Maria Hill is one of them,” she said of her character. “She’s working for Tony Stark, yes, but they shot so many locations all over the world and this team is out doing all sorts of things. So I like to think that Maria is at headquarters, trying to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. And working for Tony Stark is a whole other ballgame. She doesn’t have S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel to back her up at her disposal, so it’s an entirely different vibe for her.” Despite the many new and old characters being featured prominently in Age of Ultron, Cobie implies Maria Hill won't be sidelined. “I see Maria as having more of a female presence in this world, and it’s really exciting to have Scarlet Witch come in, and to see the Black Widow have these amazing moments, and see more women on film with all these dudes. It’s great,” she said. Anyhow, Smulders is rumored to play the character for the fourth time on the big-screen in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, but it was never addressed in the interview. What do you think?

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015.

I think she is a good fit for Hill, she needs to be in Cap 3

@AXE

Wasn't she Joss Whedons choice of Wonder Woman when he was about to do a WW movie for Warner Brothers, or was that just a rumor?

I always preferred Morena Baccarain for the job but I'm satisfied with her work.

Hopefully she takes Hill's annoyance factor to another level in anticipation for Civil War. She's arguably the greatest antagonist in that entire series.

I like Cobie's Hill. I'm interested to see how she fits in at Stark Industries.

Smulders seems like a better choice for Wonder Woman than Maria Hill.

And she certainly seems like she'd give us a better Diana than Gadot will.

I don't remember hearing that, but to this day I still wonder how a WW directed by Joss Whedon would've been like, probably kick-ass

Rumor has it that Mac and Mockingbird are working for Hill and they infiltrated SHIELD on her orders to keep an eye on Coulson.

I feel that Maria Hill will turn into the "b*tchy" character she usually is in the comics by the time this movie is over setting her up for Civil War

Yes bc Smulders looks and sounds more convincingly that she comes from a mythical island themyscira while probably trying to do a pseudo-british accent. How about no.

What I liked that WB went after was an actress that was exotic, had an accent, and charisma that can carry someone like Diana. There arent any big names that can convince me they come from a mythical place

After hearing wheadon isn't doing avengers 3 i'm getting really worried for this one. Either Marvel just thinks the russos are better directors (which could be a possibility) or wheadon majorly dropped the ball here. I mean i already think the russos are a bad fit for avengers since they've done cap, i'm worried they will have a biased. But we'll just wait and see. Heres hoping this movie is as amazing as people are hoping.

Agent Tripp was recently removed from IMDB for Avengers Age of Ultron.

There is a guy who is billed as "Claue's Mercenary". Maybe he didn't know how to spell Klaw?

One never knows what goes on behind the scenes, just the prospect of a WW by Whedon was simply exciting, nevertheless, the WW we seem to be getting pretty soon looks so far pretty good so we'll see

And before anybody accuses me, no, i'm not some marvel studios hater, i feel the same way about zack snyder directing justice league. In team films like this and justice league everyone has to feel equal, and if the director has directed a superhero solo film before doing their team movie i'm worried they will give the hero they've directed before all of the more badass moments, or shift the focus more to them. Now of course if the russos are able to pull civil war off and give iron man and cap equal importance in the story then my worries will be gone. But for now, i'm staying a bit cautious

So being a stick figure without an ounce of muscle tone is OK for playing the most powerful Amazon of all time as long as you have an Israeli accent? What?

In no media representation of the character has Wonder Woman EVER had an "exotic" accent. Neither Linda Carter, Lucy Lawless nor Susan Eisenberg have ever tried to make her sound like she's "ethnic".

Somehow Zak Snyder has convinced fanboys eager to support every move he makes that this is important to the character. Meanwhile, I will see a 100 pound Wonder Woman on screen and the same people will tell me straight-faced that her lack of mass is no big deal.

Didn't really like her in The Avengers but her character has grown on me through Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D & Captain America:The Winter Soldier.

She ends up working for Stark Enterprises.

Go look up a pic of Gal Gadot in 2009 and then look at her 5th latest Instagram pic. Theres a difference and she matches the physique of several Wonder Womans. She has a broader drame, thicker legs and arms.

To put things in perspective heres the first female to complete Ninja Warrior, Kacy Cantanzaro
