AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Toy Shows Off Thanos' New Battle Armor And Weapons

Thanos has so far been shown without his patented armour in Avengers: Infinity War but a new action figure seemingly confirms he'll be suiting up and the Mad Titan is going to look seriously formidable.

Last year, the Russo Brothers confirmed that Thanos isn't wearing any armour in what we've seen from Avengers: Infinity War because wielding the Infinity Gauntlet has made him confident enough to not feel like he actually needs it! However, LEGO sets for the movie have shown the Mad Titan decked out in armour and holding what appears to be a massive sword as he does battle with The Avengers.

Now, an action figure has surfaced which shows both Thanos' new battle armour and the weapon the villain will wield when he goes to war with Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

As you can see, Thanos has seriously upgraded his look and appears way more formidable than both his comic book counterpart and what he looked like in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy. That sword, meanwhile, is even bigger than we thought (it's double-sided, for starters) and is clearly what Thanos will be using when he attempts to reach the Infinity Gauntlet before the heroes.

What do you think about Thanos' new look? Weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section.

Seems like the Infinity Sword might be real and/or it could be a construct made via the Infinity Stones for Thanos to wield. Then again, still the potential for it just to be for the sake of play-ability with the toys. Easier to give Thanos a weapon rather than replicate the many abilities he has with the Infinity Gauntlet.

I do hope we see Thanos in his armour for more of the film though, it's a more iconic design for the character and fits more with his personality from the movies. Sure the Infinity Stone thing can be a 'spiritual quest' - but a king does not take off his armour in battle simply because he feels confident.

@Scarilian - I’m sure he won’t be in the armor much. They’re not too concerned with the iconic looks of the charecters. Just look at Cap, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, etc....

@Scarilian - I too wish they give him armour. While I can see their logic in him not having armour (with each stone he becomes more powerful and doesn't need it), it's clearly a "we need a new toy design" decision.
Thanos is arrogant and a war Lord. He aiming to control the universe. While he wouldn't technically need it for protection, he would wear his armour for vanity. He wants to become a God.

To behonest I just which they had kept his helmet. I actually really like his exposed arms; I like that his chin ridges are also doesn't on his arms.

@StormXmen123 - Non of that is who Starlin wrote Thanos to be in the comics or how he is in Infinity War, given what the Russos have said about him.

That's just superficial overlord crap, like Darkseid. Thanos is not Darkseid. At the surface level, yes, in your description, he would need the armour. Philosophically though, he's far more existential in his motivations and it wouldn't actually be that important.

@Scarilian - I hope he sheds it like General Zod did, when he realised he no longer needed it.

Off topic but what the hell happened to ScreenRant? Every article is a poorly written/edited pile of trash and the comments are filled with trolls and negativity and now they're shutting out viewers entirely if you have ad-block. ScreenRant used to be my go-to now it's a dumpster fire

@SupermansTrunks - Ah yes, i too used to go to screen rant "Mr Cipher", i dont know what happend to it. After it lost its open discussion many users like myself left, i know a subbreddit where they hang out if you wish to go?

I still dont get their reasoning for his new suit in this movie. He doesn't need the armor anymore? Why are we giving him development off screen when we never really got to know him in the first place?

@Origame - maybe you could wait til the movie comes out to ask questions about plot points of the movie idk though
