Badass Digest first reported that Joe and Anthony Russo were in the frame to direct Marvel's third and fourth Avengers movies, and now they reckon the deal has been finalized and they will shoot both films back-to-back over the next couple of years. Plus, it sounds as if they might have the writing team of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World) back on board too. Apparently Civil War will be "instrumental in setting up infinity War", so if all of this pans out it's great that we'll have the same team calling the shots.

Obviously none of this is official until Marvel makes it so, but the site seems to feel an announcement is imminent so keep an eye on CBM for updates. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 will hit theaters May 4th 2018, followed by Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 on May 3rd 2019.

UPDATE: Still nothing from Marvel, but THR has confirmed the news.

I love what the Russos did with the Winter Soldier but I really don't know if they can handle a big cast in movie ( which is very different from doing it in a show) but if Civl War ends up being amazing then I'll be incredible excited.

I would still prefer Whedon finishing the Avengers movies

I think that The Winter Soldier is the best Marvel film to date, I'm glad about this news.
An Avengers film with the feel/tone of TWS would be brilliant.

While they are a good choice, I'm still upset Whedon won't be coming back.

Just imagine Thanos written by Whedon. That would have been fantastic.

Christ, they need a way stronger writing team than that if they want to pull this off. Winter soldier was fine, but Dark World and First Avenger are some really clunky scripts.

I would like Whedon to come back but the Russos are great as long as they can handle a big cast, so if Civil War is as good as WS then I'm sure Infinity War will be amazing

I won't decide how I feel about this until after I've seen the Russo Bros. do an action heavy semi-ensemble movie with Civil War.

i was hoping to get Whedon back in some capacity, but the Russo's are going to own this no matter what.

The Winter Soldier is up with Iron Man as the best MCU film so far, so I'd be satisfied with this.

How can someone write a script as good as TWS and turn around and write something as awful as The Dark World?

LET'S DO THIS!

I'm definitely gonna miss Whedon... but the Russos KILLED IT with TWS, and it looks like they're going to kill it again Civil War!

They have certainly proven themselves with the Winter Soldier.

Also calling it now that Whedon writes and directs the Ms.Marvel/Captian Marvel movie.

Won't be surprised if we see Joss Whedon back as at least a producer. He molded the Avengers and Age of Ultron, so it's only fair he gets some capacity to finish his brainchild trilogy. Definitely don't mind the Russo's directing though, TWS was absolutely fantastic and brilliantly directed.

I'd prefer Gunn for one, Russos for the other, but this also pleases me.
