Marvel Studios Officially Announce AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 1 And 2 Writers

Hot off that exciting Captain America: Civil War news earlier today, Marvel has revealed who will join directors Joe and Anthony Russo as the writers of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War movie!

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will follow Captain America as they head to Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2, Marvel announced via press release today. The duo behind the screenplays for Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War will once again team with directors Joe and Anthony Russo for the two-part climax to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 will hit theaters May 4, 2018, with the second part following on May 3, 2019.
 
"Chris and Steve have been an integral part of the Marvel family since the early days of Phase 1, and their work speaks for itself," said Producer Kevin Feige in a statement today. "We couldn’t be more excited to have them with us to help guide the Avengers through their biggest story yet."
 
In addition to writing all three films in Marvel’s Captain America franchise, Markus & McFeely also created Marvel’s Agent Carter, which premiered earlier this year on ABC, and co-wrote Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World. It's clear that with Joss Whedon deciding to move on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that this duo along with the Russos have become Feige's go to guys, and it's hard to find fault with them tackling this sure to be epic movie. I mean, I'm sure these are just formalities at this point and Marvel's had these details locked up for a while now, but still...it's crazy how ahead of the game they appear to be.

The Winter Soldier still is my favorite CBM to date. I'm sure they will come up with something amazing. I have high expectations for both Civil War and Infinity War.

I always forget how much I love that movie. It's like when you forget why you like something and then you do it and you remember exactly why. Blade II was perfection. Perfect character portrayal, great action and just an all round great movie.

@PAF Honestly, I don't think the Whedon/Renner incidents (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to at least haha) really translate all that much from the internet into real life. Just from personal experience, when I saw Age of Ultron twice in packed theaters with friends who aren't die-hard fans...none of those issues came up a single time. All the conversation has been about how [frick]ing crazy the movies are, how fun the characters are to watch, and how hilarious the humor is.

When we step away from the internet echo chamber, it's pretty clear that the majority of the things we experience and see here on CBM or Twitter or wherever...don't really make that leap to everyday conversation with the general audience. So I don't know how much damage control Marvel even has to do at this point.

Wow. Is today obvious news day or what? Hey guys, breaking news! AOU will make more than the first Avengers film! The new Avengers team from the end of AOU will be in Civil War! Barbara Gordon is Batgirl in Arkham Knight! The Joker tattoos are real! And the writers of Winter Soldier and Civil War, both of which are helmed by the Russos, will be writing Infinity War, also helmed by the Russos!
