AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Selling Twice As Many Tickets As BLACK PANTHER; Outpacing Last 7 MCU Movies Combined
Two weeks ahead of the film's release, Fandango has revealed that Avengers: Infinity War is outpacing Black Panther and is selling twice as many presale tickets as the last seven MCU movies combined!
It's too early to say, but Marvel Studios may have a hit on their hands.
According to Fandango, Avengers: Infinity War is selling more than twice the amount of tickets on their website than Black Panther sold at the same point in the sales cycle, which is not even the most impressive thing in their press release. The upcoming Russo Brothers-directed blockbuster is actually outpacing the last seven entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe combined.
Let me reiterate: Infinity War has sold more tickets at this point in the sales cycle than Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther combined.
Marvel's latest chapter is expected to ultimately become the top superhero pre-seller in Fandango's history, and is already the company's top pre-seller among April releases, having surpassed the presales for Universal's Furious 7 earlier this year.
While early projections have conservatively estimated a $200 million+ opening weekend, it's looking increasingly likely that it will open considerably higher. With these historic presale numbers leading the way, a $250 million or a possible $300 million opening weekend doesn't exactly seem out of the realm of possibility now.
So, what do you guys think? How many tickets have you bought? Sound off with your thoughts below!
