Congratulations To THE AVENGERS On Their Oscar Nomination For Best Visual Effects

Marvel's The Avengers has secured an Oscar Nomination. Looks like they're our only comic book movie contender for one of the golden statues but they'll face some steep competition from some other, visually-great films.

Hey DC guys, where is DKR on the list?

It seems that visual effects is the only category in which the Oscars respect movies people actually enjoyed. If the public had control of who was nominated (which makes the most sense to do) then TDKR, Hobbit, and Avengers would have gotten best pic noms

Life of Pi is more visually stunning than the rest of them ...atleast to my eyes.

The Dark Knight Rises spends months campaigning to get their picture noticed, makes various campaign posters, and they get shut out.

The Avengers passes on the opportunity to campaign (or even rally behind the film) and they get a nomination.

For months, the Nolan fans told us comic purist that we were crazy.

hahahaha

BEST. NEWS. EVER!!!

I think Life Of Pi might nab it. All the nominees are worthy (except SWATH, although I haven't seen it so it may be unfair for me to say it doesn't deserve one) but I have a feeling Life of Pi will nab it, because it is an incredible movie with extraordinary VFX. In places, The Avengers was a bit off (the Hulk transformation in the finale for example is epic, but the effects on Ruffalo's face are a bit iffy).

And just so you guys know, Avengers did make an Oscar push, but the differences between Avengers and TDKR was Avengers only pushed for one, and they were successful in getting a nomination.

The hobbit shouldn't win, it should be between the avengers, life of pi and Prometheus.

congratulations to the avengers, Marvel studios and ILM for the more than deserved nomination for Visual Effects. they didnt have to spend the last months with a new ad in variety every week begging for a nomination, to get one.

I was trying to write something about how TDKR should have gotten visuals over Snow White and the Huntsman, and list reasons, but ScarJo is right above this making it very hard to focus.

These type of categories are all cbm's will probably get nominated for in the near future, the academy still views cbm's as kids movies IMO.

So Marvel fans sat through the sandblasting of Bat/Nolan fans that said only DKR should win an Oscar. After patiently waiting and letting Nolanites blast Whedon/Avengers..... Avengers gets the ONLY nomination for a comic book movie... Hmmmmm....

Marvel should get an award just for making a cinematic universe that no one has done before they changed movies forever even if just in a small way .

Good for Marvel and the Avengers! Sad TDKR didn't get a nomination. I thought it would at least get one.

I remember last year around this time about every Marvel movie article was blasted by Nolanites and the Avengers in particular was targeted. One idiot in particular stated how TDKR is gonna destroy the Avengers at the box office and Oscars, then when Avengers did better they shifted the goal posts and said and I quote "can you feel that Oscar snub?" I think that guy is banned now but it teaches you one damn thing....

Keep your trap shut so you won't look like a dumb ass later.

That said, Tea and everyone else saying this war between the Marvelites and the Nolanites needs to stop are totally right, but its gonna be hard, because The Nolanites trolled everything on here related to Marvel ticking the Marvelites off and after the success of the Avengers, the Marvelites came back just as hard if not harder. with both sides fueling each other, it may be hard for piece as any success or failure on either side is gonna be taken as ammo one way or the other to keep the fight going.

The Academy did very well in ignoring TDKR.
Nolan created a boring mess of a film and filled it with great actors in overwritten parts in an underdeveloped story and thought he would surely win Oscars.
Then Nolan and TDKR are completely ignored while BETTER, SUPERIOR, MORE ENTERTAINING FILMS LIKE AVENGERS AND SNOW WHITE GET OSCARS!
I applaud the Academy and even the Golden Globes for ignoring Nolan's groveling and begging for awards!

I'm laughing at Nolan.
And to those who believed such a terrible film would be nominated, and you thought TDKR would actually win best picture, this laughs for you!!!!!!

Preston your comic purists line makes no sense. I can label many different storylines that tdkr was based. Off. What issues does Loki mindcontrol Hawkeye. When does that line up appear in the past fifty Yeats. When did Hawkeye get indestructible powers to walk away easily from a plane crash. Don't call it a quinjet. The quinjets was designed specifically for the avengers by Tony Stark
