Our friends over at Collider.com recently got the opportunity to sit down with actor Don Cheadle and discuss some of his upcoming projects and where things will be headed, as things so often tend to do with actors who previously starred in super-hero flicks, the subject turned to just that where Cheadle reveals that Iron Man 3 will start shooting in February, a War Machine spinoff is apparently still in the works, and that's he's relieved that he hasn't gotten the call to star in Joss Whedon's The Avengers.


Q: Are there any future Marvel movies that you might be appearing in?

DC: Well the Iron Man 3 is coming back. We’ll probably do that again in February and there’s talk of a War Machine spinoff, which I guess, unless I get recast, I would probably do.

Q: Will you be in The Avengers?

DC: Not this one that they’re shooting right now. Thank god!

Q: Was that ever in the works?

DC: Me being in The Avengers? I have a contract to be in The Avengers but I’m glad they haven’t exercised that option yet. I need some down time.

war machine is a great character but i don't think a solo film would work out. he's better as a supporting character imo.

Liked him in IM 2, and hell WAR MACHINE is my second MARVEL fave character!

But despite that, I reject to see a spin-off...what would they tell if it ever happened?

No to spin-off, but I'd like to see him back for the role in anything!

I really don't think we need a War Machine spin off, or even appearance in Iron Man 3. Rhodey should have been in Avengers, since Fury did state that they could have recruited Rhodey instead of Stark.

He lacked the swag Terrance Howard brought to the role, Don's a good actor though.

Glad he's not in The Avengers.

No to a spin-off.

Just a supporting character in the MCU, possibly in S.H.I.E.L.D. solo films.

I don't think the sequel did justice to his character...

Put War Machine in an active war zone for 'Iron Man 3', kick Mandarin's ass!

I agree that a War Machine Spin-off sounds unecessary. It's just another Iron Man. But I do find it funny that people want to see a Bucky spin-off movie of Winters Soldiers lol. I guess we use the logic that suits our taste.

A War Machine spin off would probably be less received than Green Lantern. But having War Machine appear as an easter egg in the Avengers would be kind of cool. Like if there was a massive invasion of aliens or whatever, it would be nice to see how a group that is separate from the Avengers is handling the conflict. maybe show for a minute or two tops how War Machine/Shield agents are handling the henchman while the Avengers are elsewhere focusing on the main threat.

don't tell me a movie involving HULK and no reference to Betty and Ross...what shall make him loose temper and beat the crap out of Rest 3 as he did in Ultimates???Somebody should chase him and somebody(Betty) should be there for him to cool down..

Morris Chestnut or Jaime Foxx would've been a perfect replacement for Terrance Howard, didn't like Cheadle 4 the role at all, he just seemed bored and tired and kind of cheesy, Howard definitely brought a certain swagger and charm and overall sense of 'genuineness' to the role

Did somebody just say P Diddy? Are you [frick]ing kidding me? That guy can't act let alone make his own albums. He isn't good at rapping or acting. I don't even know how he is popular to begin with... producing everyone else's albums maybe? Maybe he gets fans every time he changes his already stupid alias name. Puff Daddy, P Diddy. Both are retarded, not even remotely cool sounding.

Anyway, Jamie Fox is the shit, and he's a great actor. I like him in all his roles, as a matter of fact, he has been in some of the best movies, like Collateral and Law Abiding Citizen for example. I would love for him to be Rhodey.

With that being said, I think Don Cheadle is a good actor, and I liked him when they announced him (which is good cause I'm not a fan of Terrace's 'I'm about to cry' whisper voice). But even though he was okay and being the tough guy, I think he is missing that swagger that somebody like Jamie Foxx would bring to the role. Somebody who is bossy but still is 'cool' lol.

Why do you guys want to recast Cheadle? He is a great actor and did a great job as War Machine. The guy said he wanted some time off, actors can do that you know they are human. And hes right he should not be in the Avengers that would not make much sense. God, some of you kids on this site are so juvinille and butthurt about anything.

Cut him some slack, he just got done with a movie (with Brendan Gleeson) for the big screen And a TV movie. People get tired, man. Doesn't make sense for War Machine to be in Avengers anyway.
