Drew Goddard Has Seen MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS And Loved It

The Cabin In The Woods director is lucky enough to have been one of the few people that Joss Whedon has shown the completed movie to and the good news is that he has nothing but good things to say about it.

Now, Goddard (who co-Cabin In The Woods with Joss Whedon) is obviously not going to turn around and say that he hated it, but the early buzz surrounding Marvel's The Avengers has so far been very good, and others who have been treated to an early screening have also had nothing but good things to say about the superhero ensemble. Talking to Collider, here's what the director and life-long Avengers fan had to say about what he saw. As you may agree, his reaction does in fact come across as being entirely genuine.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: April 27, 2012. (UK) May 4th, 2012. (US)

Not what I, or anyone else for that matter, has been hearing. Whedon is good with action and probably better with substance.

Hey don't try and reason with Nolanites. Some of them aren't looking at anything logical. They can't be bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some, just want the Avengers desperately to suck.

(It won't by the way.)

I'm usually as big of a square as I can possibly be when I comment on this site (considering this is one of the easiest places to start an argument on the internet), but your humor is great. Not that you should care about my opinion, but there it is.

awwwwww! bane is so little! yes he is! you're just so little, aren't you bane? cootchi cootchi coo!!

Lets put it this way. I have been a batman fan forever. I never liked ANY... let me repeat that, I never liked ANY of the characters that are going to be in the avengers. The avengers trailer gave me goosebumps and ive watched it about 10 times a day for the past week. Batman trailer...no goosbumps, and I can't remember anything about it except for all the lousy emotionless extras in orange jump suits with ak47s.

I hope this movie lives up to the expectations of it's fans. They have been waiting a long time for it and it seems like Joss is treating it like it should be treated.

Azazel1, now that is probably the only thing you could've said that would make me nervous. Episode 1 might be one of the biggest disappointments, if people were honest about it. Being a Trekkie, I always preferred Star Trek anyways. In return of the Jedi Just completely wrecked any hope I had for Star Wars. Lucas sold out in my eyes from that point on for the sole purpose of merchandise.

Oh well, those were the days… Thank God that was so so long ago, too bad it just wasn't in another galaxy. :-)

Of course he did! What else is he going to say? I'm waiting to hear what objective people have to say about it. I don't care what people who are apart of the film in some capacity and Joss Whedon's friend and co collaborator think about it.

Heh.

You know...when people comapre it to Transformers re: action and effects, I see no problem as Transformer in THAT area does well. In a movie like this with the characters they have, bad effects and action would kill this movie.

BUT to assume thats all this movie is gonna have (like Transformers) well heh...I'll take that bet. This movie is gonna be great action and Weadon is awesome at juggling several characters.

This is a great year for movies.
