Thanos' Reveal In THE AVENGERS Most Paused Movie Moment Of 2012

What Culture have posted their top 10 most paused moments of 2012 - even though not all of the films have actually hit home release yet. Anyway, their top 3 are from movies we have covered here on CBM. See what the other two are after the jump..

Unsurprisingly, a lot of the top 10 consists of nudity and or sex scenes - Megan Fox's boob grope in This Is 40 for example. But a few others are CBM related, and Thanos' appearance in the mid-credits scene of Marvel's The Avengers takes the no. 1 spot..

What they say..

"The previous sequences left us thrilled and confused in varying measures, but no film elicited as many “WTF?” responses as the end of The Avengers (or, sorry, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble), which in its mid-credits sequence made it clear where the evil chain of command led, to this helmet-clad figure who bemused just as many people as he excited.

The nerds were at once screaming, “It’s Thanos!”, while more casual viewers – likely the majority of the audience – were promptly whipping out their smartphones to try and figure out who it was. Indeed, it’s the briefest of glimpses and a pretty ambiguous scene on the whole, so it’s no surprise that this had so many of us pausing our Blu-Rays when it finally hit stores."

The 2 and 3 spots were taken by Prometheus and Cabin In The Woods. The latter being that brief shot of the whiteboard which reveals the various monster names..

..and from Ridley Scott's sci-fi flick, we have that final shot of "The Deacon" - the creature that may eventually evolve into the Xenomorph Queen from the Alien movies..

Thats what I also noticed about Thanos, I'm sure hes supposed to be an enormous figure, maybe about as big as Hulk but he had these average size hands and arms...Not sure if that was on purpose or just got lazy after post production, but if those are gonna fill wat looks be a big Infinity Gaunlet that was displayed at Comic Con, I hope they fix by his next appearance.

Nit picking I know, but all in all Thanos looked awesome and perfect for the big screem in just that one shot :]

Kinda sucks that everyone here in the USA knew Thanos was in it cause the film was released first overseas. Still it was awesome seeing it in theaters!

Yeah, I remember thinking Thanos had freakishly small hands... maybe that's why he wants the Infinity Gauntlet; to make them look bigger?!

That Cabin board was awesome. I love the inclusion of "Deadites" and Angry Molesting Tree" and for some reason "Kevin" made me laugh for far too long.

@Bane5000 Cabin is worth a watch for sure, especially if your a Whedon fan.

Are you guys sure those were Thanos' hands? Maybe those were The Other's hands as he was kneeling down. Just a thought.

But yeah, Thanos' appearance was awesome! He's my favorite comic book villain, so I'm excited to see where they'll take his character!
Durf
Durf - 12/30/2012, 5:36 PM
@rocker: Yeah I'm not sure either. Also I don't get the whole "the hands were too small" thing. What was there to compare them too?

CaptainObvious
CaptainObvious - 12/30/2012, 6:30 PM
@ManOfSuperguy- That was the whole point of the movie. The Angry Gods were a metaphor for the audience who just want the same thing over and over. Marty (the stoner) is supposed to represent those who want something new from the horror genre.

Also, the reason they didn't save humanity was because if it all came down to sacrificing others for the "greater good", then maybe humanity is not worth saving and things need to change.
