Top 5 Marvel Movies (So Far)

As of this writing, 36 movies have been made based on Marvel comic franchises. Needless to say, not all of them are going to be home runs. Some of them, however, have proven to be quite enjoyable. Here's a list of the top 5.

5) Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 may have divided long-time fans of the comic series, but it still managed to make a boat load of cash, and with good reason. Even despite the Mandarin twist, the movie had some of the best humor and action in any Marvel movie to date.

4) Spider-Man 2

Sam Raimi took everything that was good about the first Spider-Man film and turned it up to 11. Somehow, Spider-Man 3 also seems to have made the second installment retroactively better. Go figure.

3) X2: X-Men United

Proving that he could handle an all-star cast of superheroes, Bryan Singer deftly juggled several different developing story lines into one fluid narrative with plenty of action to boot. It's too bad the same can't be said for X-Men 3, but at least Singer's back on board for this year's Days of Future Past.

2) Thor

I have to admit, when I first heard that Thor was going to be made into a feature film I was surprised that Marvel would choose such a seemingly bizarre choice (although the announcement of Guardians of the Galaxy and the possibility of a Doctor Strange film have since made Thor seem somewhat safe), but they absolutely managed to pull it off.

1) The Avengers

Come on, like you didn't know this was going to be number one. The Avengers managed to do what no other film has done before and successfully merged four different film franchises into a single film experience. It was also tons of fun, which helped quite a bit.

Thor?? Seriously? Your opinion but that one honestly wasn't top 10 or 5 material. You could make case for the sequel but the first? Hell no...it was just alright.

5. The Incredible Hulk
4. X-Men: First Class
3. Iron Man
2. X-Men
1. Spider-Man 2

Avengers, Blade 1 & 2, X2, Thor 2, Spider-Man, Daredevil and Wolverine are next in line.

I love Avengers, but it's far from the best. There was just no story at all, too many conveniences with the plot. Avengers = Transformers...but that's coming from someone who loved all three Transformers.

Terrible list IMO.

My top 5
1) Iron Man (best one of the trilogy IMO)
2) Avengers
3) Spiderman (sam raimi)
4) The Amazing Spiderman (i thought it was pretty good except for that cheesy crane swinging scene)
5) The Wolverine

I thought Iron Turd 3 sucked. i'd probably put Punisher (2004), ghost rider, and maybe even fantastic four ahead of IT3.

as for the x-men films i watched them but i honestly dont remember them that well anymore so i cant really judge them fairly.

@Anno
I'd probably agree on that.
i think the movie was ok, but extremely overhyped for what we got.

My main reason for ranking avengers its the fact that they got all these heroes together combined with the action scenes. and hulk, cant forget hulk.

Nice top five. I think that we have similar tastes.

I recently made my own list, and decided somewhat to my own surprise that Thor was #4. It's not a complex or flashy film, but I feel that when you really look at these films as works of art, Thor is one of the best Marvel adaptions so far.

The Avengers is probably the hardest to rank. i don't think that it's the best from a critical standpoint, but in terms of entertainment value, nothing has been more fun.

I like your list I agree, but I would replace Spiderman 2 with the first Iron Man. Honorable mention to x-men first class.

X2 gets last place by default. Its a really good movie, but none of the xmen movies were great adaptations
