At the D23 Expo on Saturday, August 20, she said the costume was "Same, same old catsuit. Tight and that's about it."
When asked how she got out of the form-fitting suit every day, Johansson replied, "Can I get out of my own catsuit? I don't know I feel like that's sharing a lot of information ... I'm incredibly flexible."
Johansson stood alongside her "Avengers" co-star Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, at the event. The actress is reprising her "Iron Man 2" character Black Widow, the only female Avenger. Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth will once again play Thor, Chris Evans returns as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. stars as Iron Man, and Mark Ruffalo will debut as The Incredible Hulk in the highly anticipated blockbuster.
The film also stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, a villain from "Thor," and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D with Fury. It is directed by Joss Whedon and is set for release on May 4, 2012.
"We've got a good group of guys. I kind of have to keep them in check a little bit," Johansson said about her character.
"She's like our den mother, she keeps us in line," Renner said.
From the photo, it appears that Hathaway's Catwoman costume will be more functional than seductive and instead of a cat-like mask, Hathaway dons goggles for the role.
It was confirmed in mid-January that Hathaway would star in "The Dark Knight Rises" as Selina Kyle, whose alter-ego is Catwoman. In the DC comic books, the character is the love interest of Bruce Wayne, who masquerades as the superhero Batman.
"The Dark Knight Rises," the third installment in Christopher Nolan's critically and commercially successful reboot of the Batman franchise, is slated for release on July 20, 2012.
Warner Bros. Pictures announced in April that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had joined the cast. According to the statement from the studio carried by the Associated Press, Oscar-winner Cotillard will play a character named Miranda Tate "a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham."
Both actors have worked with Nolan before in the 2010 film "Inception." The two actors joined their fellow "Inception" co-star Tom Hardy who will play as the villain Bane, an escaped convict who gains superhuman strength due to a series of drug experiments.
The role of Catwoman was first played by Julie Newmar in the 1966 "Batman" TV series, a role which was eventually taken over by Eartha Kitt in the third season. On the big screen, Michelle Pfeiffer donned a latex cat suit for the 1992 "Batman Returns" and Halle Berry appeared in the critically-disdained 2004 film "Catwoman."
