So at least one, maybe 2 animated movies based on the 1966 Batman series coming in time for the show's 50th anniversary next year. Aside from what's revealed in the video above we don't have any more details, but it's assumed this would be one of Warner Bros.' straight to DVD animated features. What do you think of this news? It should be a fun at least, as the classic series still holds up as being pretty damn hilarious at times.

I feel that this could only work as a LEGO Batman '66 movie.

Still waiting for the Batmen movie where all of the previous Batmen are in a major mall for signing autographs. Then a terrorist group invades the mall and the only one(s) who can save the day are the Batmen.

I don't understand peoples obsession with 66 Batman, I've tried it on IFC a few times but I can't stand it when 66 Batman says a plan then it does a fancy cut away to 66 Batman with the villain tied up and saying to Robin "good job the plan worked perfectly." I just laugh the whole time. Or the episode where 66 Batman runs back and forth on a dock with a bomb held above his head for 2 minutes, its just god awful!

Should be interesting and cool Adam west is a great guy. I would like to see other movies from the past made or not made into animated films. Id like to see Batman Triumphant which sounded like a good movie made into one. And I liked Nolan's take. But that would be cool to see.

'66 Batman never seems to get the credit it deserves.

It was way ahead of it's time with all the pop culture references and pretty much brought the character back from the dead culturally speaking. Batman had a tough time during the 50's and early 60's.

Also I wonder if the animation is similar in style to the opening credits. I loved that shit as a kid!

Growing up, 66 Batman was the beez-knees, (& I took it seriously then).
As a teen I got annoyed at how ridiculous it was... That wasn't Batman!
As an adult, & knowing that it was intentionally made to be a comedy, especially as the comics of the time were campy as well, I think 66 Batman did a fantastic job in what it set out to do. IT REALLY IS HILARIOUS & I've found a whole new love for it.
Can't wait

I feel like this could work with 3D pixar style animation. but not on a direct to dvd budget.

It's funny, you love this as kid, then you grow up a bit and begin to resent it and want your darker batman. Then you get a little but older and look back and realize this show really was great and was the gateway to Batman for most people.

Blah. I understand this was important 50 years ago, but it [frick]ing sucks today, and I really don't understand who can get into this as an adult.

Tim Burton didn't kill off the campy Batman. Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams did.

I can understand Adam West but surely Burt Wards voice will be so out of place?

Then again I'm only going with West due to Family Guy
