HELL ON WHEELS' Anson Mount On The Possibility Of Playing BATMAN
Anson Mount has emerged as a fan-favorite to replace Christian Bale as the Dark Knight (who will next appear in Batman/Superman), but what does the Hell On Wheels star have to say? Plus, Liam McIntyre, Sam Witwer and Scott Adkins tweet on potentially playing the Caped Crusader.
With a new actor set to fill the role of Batman in 2015's Man Of Steel follow-up (in which the Dark Knight and Superman will face off), there is sure to be interest from many in playing the character. We previously heard interest from Spartacus' Liam McIntyre and Supernatural's Jensen Ackles, while The Lone Ranger's Armie Hammer (who was actually cast as the Caped Crusader in the canned Justice League: Mortal) withdrew himself from the race earlier this week. Now, Hell On Wheels' Anson Mount addresses the possibility of playing Batman in response to emerging as a fan-favorite for the role. In an interview with Huffington Post, he says that he's a fan of director Zack Snyder (who is helming Batman/Superman) as well as the character himself. "It's just flattering to be considered as someone who can even begin to approach this role. I read comics growing up and Batman was one of my favorites. I think Zack Snyder is a great filmmaker." Recent rumors suggest that an older Batman will be featured in the movie, with names such as Josh Brolin and Jon Hamm being brought up. If that's the case, it wouldn't be out of the question to see Mount being considered (especially after his comments on the matter).
In other Batman news, below is a collection of tweets from three actors who have also been brought up in casting the Caped Crusader. The aforementioned Liam McIntyre thanks fans for their support, but then states that the role is "not meant" for him (apparently in response to the rumor of an older Batman being used). Ninja's Scott Adkins also comments on the possibility, and Being Human's Sam Witwer says that playing the Dark Knight is "an idea" after suggesting that Michael Keaton should reprise the role for an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. Who do you think should play the next Batman?
