Is a new big-screen take on Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, going to be introduced in Joker: Folie à Deux? This latest photo from the set certainly suggests that the classic Batman villain will appear in some capacity.
The photo was taken during the filming of a scene featuring Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn (see her in full costume here) walking up steps in the middle of some kind of protest, and one of the people in the crowd is holding a placard that reads "Dent is a Clown."
This would seem to indicate that Dent will be a well-known public figure, possibly Gotham's DA (as he is usually depicted) or a politician. There are also "Free Joker" signs, so perhaps Harvey is responsible for keeping him locked away in Arkham Asylum?
Even if Dent does show up, we can't imagine he'll have a substantial part to play, as the trades would have surely got wind of it. Then again, maybe Phillips and the studio just did a great job of keeping his casting under wraps.
The Joker sequel won't take place in the same world as the main DCU, and will be known as an "Elseworlds" project, along with Matt Reeves' The Batman movies, J.J. Abrams' Superman film, and Constantine 2 (if they happen).
Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that the majority of the film will take place in Arkham Asylum and feature musical numbers.
Joker: Folie à deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
