Liam Neeson Officially Confirmed For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Hey look at that, Wrath of the Titans will actually yield something interesting. Too bad that it comes from their production notes, which give us official confirmation that Ra's Al Ghul is back.

The Wrath of the Titans production notes officially confirm that Liam Neeson will be reprising his role of Ra's Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises.

"Neeson next appears in Peter Berg’s actioner “Battleship,” and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated action thriller “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Feel like you've heard this before? That's because in January, Liam Neeson told showbizspy.com, "I can tell you nothing about Dark Knight Rises, seriously. I was on set for maybe an hour-and-a-half and the director didn’t tell me anything of what it’s about. So, I’m being very honest when I say I have no idea what’s going to happen.” Now, I read that quote and viewed it as confirmation that Liam was most certainly back, not like I had any doubts, but there were still people that said, "Well, technically he didn't actually say he IS in it." Okay, fine, well now we have Warner Bros.' Wrath of the Titans production notes, and they eliminate all doubt. You're welcome.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Henri Ducard: No, no, no. A vigilante is just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification. He can be destroyed, or locked up. But if you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can't stop you, then you become something else entirely.
Bruce Wayne: Which is?
Henri Ducard: A legend, Mr. Wayne.

Will be interesting to see what part Ra's plays in the film. Will he help or be another enemy for Batman to deal with. TDKR FTW!

I hope the Rise chants are something like a ritual 4 Ra's body.XD Was Ra's ever proclaimed "dead" like Two-Face was or no???? :/

The story will now come full circle, tons of callbacks to the previous movie, loads of twists, lots of new and fresh action' alot of "OOOOOOO" and "AH-HAH!" and "DAMN!" moments...let's do this.

It will be an interesting movie for sure! How has Gothom's freaky crime escalated as a result of a still alive Joker? Will the movie use Heath Ledgers voice excerpts from the nearly finished but never released TDK video game? If Ra is alive does he still want to bring Gothom down to ashes? Or, has Batman shown him that another way is possible - lending Batman an army of his own from the league of shadows...
Avengers will be an absolute blast to watch. But I am very intrigued to see where they take this last Batman movie of Nolans.

WOW, I love the idea of him returning, he was such a strong character.

Gettin' really hyped for this one too! (Don't get me wrong, it's just because we don't have TDKR news for a while now).

@maxleresistant - well, you have the benefit of doubt, could be a flashback from Bane's past or something.

At the end we will find that Ra's Al Ghul is alive and was the mentor of the destruction of Gotham since the last movie - the guy behind the Joker and that forced Batman and Gordon to sustain a lie unde rthe excuse of mantain the order!

"The Dark Knight Rises is a war film." Quote from a member of the film crew on Wikipedia. The Avengers will be the kiss ass family film we can all enjoy, but The Dark Knight Rises will be the All-American, curb stomping, tell your kids to shut up and sit still, don't want to miss a moment movie of the year. So proud to see how far our comics have come since we were kids. Now if we could get some black superheroes on screen (John Stewart cuz Hal Jordan sucks balls) and some females (come on, who doesn't want a Wonder Woman movie) we will have whooped ass.

As great as the Lazarus pit would be in a film, I really doubt we'll be seeing it. Ra's will probably have some flashbacks tying him to Bane & revealing what's-her-name as his daughter.
CaptainDC
CaptainDC - 3/28/2012, 7:05 AM
Love it! I predict him being in a flashback of him going into the Lazarus pit. Then I think josh pence, who is acting as him younger, might come back to modern day as the younger ras ah gul and unleash hell on batman with his daughter talia, played by Marion coitlliard
Sanderman
Sanderman - 3/28/2012, 7:10 AM
It's a flashback. The man got blown up in a subway for pete sake! if he's brought back to life that would just ruin the whole "realism" thing nolan has had going in all the movies
hartley07
hartley07 - 3/28/2012, 7:12 AM
it better be a flashback, otherwise this has friggin spiderman 3 written all over it. bane, catwoman, ra's...cut it out nolan.

Nolan's vision for this trilogy is so realistic. Just like in real life, after a guy rides a train off it's rails and crashes into a building, only to explode and dissappear for years, comes back from the dead. That's just what would happen.
ralfinader
ralfinader - 3/28/2012, 7:15 AM
Kind of hoping it is a reference to the Lazarus pits, but in the realistic-ish world Nolan has this set in, that is unlikely. Probably a flashback with Bane, to establish the little guy more in the movie.
ralfinader
ralfinader - 3/28/2012, 7:19 AM
Oh yeah, could also be a flashback with Talia, keep forgetting she is in this to some degree.
HavocPrime
HavocPrime - 3/28/2012, 7:19 AM
Betting a flashback as Nolans "Realism" won't allow a mythical pit of green ooze that can bring someone back to life, or make them younger for that matter.

Thank god Michael Bay isn't involved as he would probs say Aliens were behind the Lazarus pits.

Nothing supernatural has happened in the series and yet people still believe Ras will rise from a vat of goo after having a train shoved up his ass.

Not really surprised, but its still good to know. But just imagine how awesome it would be if they reveal that he survived the train crash in Batman Begins.

AlexDeLarge87 - 3/28/2012, 7:28 AM
Of course its only flashback. I doubt Nolan wants to screw up his "super realistic" vision of Batman. ;)

So Talia's gonna be in it?
You know what they should do?
They should have a brief flashback with Liam in so people realize she's his daughter!!!
.
.
oh... that's obviously what they are doing isn't it?
Nevermind, no news here.
