When Morgan Freeman -- who played Bruce Wayne's friend and gadget-man Lucius Fox in all three of Christopher Nolan's Bat-flicks -- was told that Ben Affleck would be taking on the mantle in a new series of movies he was pretty surprised, as so little time has passed since
The Dark Knight Rises.
"This is the first I am hearing of it. My first reactions are 'Wow' and 'Good luck'," said the veteran actor when asked for his reaction
"After the trilogy, I thought that no one would try it again for a few years more to let this whole thing die down, because it's still there. So I don't know, I hope Ben does well." So any chance he'd return to the role of Fox for the new movies if asked? Well of course he realizes that's extremely unlikely given the circumstances.
"If the new movie does have a Lucius Fox I don't think it's going to be me," said Freeman.
"It doesn't seem to work to mix characters in the movies. If you are going to change the lead character, you're probably going to change all the characters." It's a shame, but of course he's right..something like that would be unheard of. Are you glad these new movies rea completely disregarding Nolan's ones? Or would you rather they were kept as canon but not brought up to any great degree?
