Golden Globe Nominee Timothée Chalamet Talks Playing Nightwing In The DCEU

On the red carpet of the BAFTA Tea Party, Timothée Chalamet who was just nominated for Lead Actor at the Golden Globes was asked about taking on the role of the former Batman sidekick Nightwing.

While the future of the DCEU slate is uncertain following the low performance and reception of Justice League and with WB introducing Walter Hamada as the new head overseeing DC films nevertheless many fans are still hopeful that we see director Chris McKay's solo Nightwing outing and while word has been quiet on that front with McKay suggesting some time ago that a casting announcement might soon be imminent, no such event has occurred.

At the BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles, the Golden Globe nominated actor Timothée Chalamet from the beautiful Call Me By Your Name in which he delivers the best lead actor performance of the year (in this writer's opinion) was asked about the possibility that he would take on the role of the Bludhaven hero.

It's a certainty that the Call Me By Your Name actor is  going to be nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Elio in the adaptation of the André Aciman book and with his other film this year being fellow awards darling Lady Bird, if he does end up putting on the tights in this or any other CBM it would be a very high pedigree for that project indeed.

So what do you think? Is his "we shall see" indicative of something behind the scenes? Do you think that he would be good in the part or do you want an older Nightwing? As always leave your comments down below and keep it civil.

CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is in Cinemas Now
Directed by Luca Guadagnino
Starring;
Timothée Chalamet as Elio Perlman
    Armie Hammer as Oliver
    Michael Stuhlbarg as Mr. Perlman
    Amira Casar as Annella Perlman
    Esther Garrel as Marzia

Just an IGN reporter trying to get more things to report on.

As far as i know none of the fan casts i've seen online have mentioned this guy as being someone people want for Nightwing or Robin prior. The question seems shoved in there by the reporter simply to try and latch this person to the DCEU which tends to cause controversy and clicks.

Admittedly, kudos to the actor, he clearly is not interested and was a nice deflection rather than giving the reporter ammo to use while also not denying the possibility so as to not burn any bridges. Instead he managed to re-focus the conversation back on to writing/directing talent.

Don’t think he’d wanna be a DCEU Nightwing/Robin.

I want to work with good storytellers and good directors"

I guess that's him ruling out playing Nightwing in the DCEU then.

The Title and Summary of this article is very misleading .. made it sound very much like this guy was already cast

He's a good young actor whose obviously watched the Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy .. but this is the first I've heard of fan casting for him

He is younger than Dick Grayson should be, because with Bruce being older Dick would be around 30.

No. No. No.
I say Zac Efron for Nightwing, Shia Lebouf for Red Hood, and Dylan O'Brien for Red Robin. IMO.
