POLL: Which Live Action Batman Costume Has Best Represented The Caped Crusader?

You've cast your vote on which Superman suit best translated him to live action, and here's your chance to do the same with Batman! Did Clooney's suit with the fake Bat nipples do it for you, or is Bale's version better? Decide here...

Like Superman, Batman is a character who has had many live action iterations over the years, although it can't be denied that the costumes we've seen him in have all been vastly different. Regardless of whether it's the camp Adam West suit from 1960's, the gothic take from director Tim Burton, the somehow even more came 1990's Bat-nipples, or the realistic Christopher Nolan portrayals of the suit, we've seen a lot of variations over the years! So, here's what I want to know - which of these suits do you guys think was the best? Which was most effective in bringing the Dark Knight to the big screen? You know what to do...

Adam West

Michael Keaton

Val Kilmer

George Clooney

Christian Bale (Batman Begins)

Christian Bale (The Dark Knight)

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Blake
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate
Josh Pence as Ra's Al Ghul

I'll have to say Keaton's suit was the closest to the comics of the ones listed. Although I greatly prefer the TDK suit.

Actually, Adam West's probably the closest.

@Dynamo Mm, I'd agree if the comics version was as campy as Adam West's version. :P

Michael Keaton, but we all know that the nolanites can't stop riding the nolan or bale dick.

so bale will probably win.

Batman Begins BY FAR
Dark Knight makes sense, if only because turning you head is more than somewhat useful in fights.. Begins is easily the most aesthetically pleasing though.

Another reason I prefer begins - Christian Bale.
His voice isn't nearly as over-the-top raspy as it was in TDK - it was much more toned down and menacing, for whatever reason, he just went over the top with it in TDK.

Begins has the best suit, the best batman/bruce wayne performance. Period. TDK is ALL Ledger.

Keaton Batman was cool for what it was, but I prefer the single mindedness and intesity of the Begins performance over Keaton's misanthropic weirdo.

Keaton suit is the closest to the comics, it was pretty cool.
Bale suit in TDK was just not much good, I don´t like it. Begins suit is ok.
my vote is for Keaton suit!

keaton had the most faithful

but begins's bale suit was the best looking

It says represents Batman, not how he is in the comics. If it's just to represent who Batman is, i'd have to say the Batman Begins version.

@Josh, you should do a poll on which live action Spider-Man suit is the best represented.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 9/6/2011, 2:23 PM
So it's best represents, not most faithful..I'd prob go Bale in Begins. But costume alone not movie or actor, Val Kilmer's looked pretty damn good too.

i also like batman begins, but best ever has to be the arkham asylum (i know its not live action)

Keaton's!

Nolan's suits blew, and it seems they forgot to use his cape?

TDK's suit looks like those damn action figures that use to come out where it was jungle batman or arctic batman....too much going on in the suit. But it looks like the Nolan dick riders are out!

Also, why not include the 2nd Val Kilmer suit? Or the Batman Returns suit?
RockNRollCC
RockNRollCC - 9/6/2011, 2:30 PM
i love how people complain about TDK suit, and yet, its the highest voted.

My vote goes to Begins' suit. The cowl earns my vote over TDK's suit.

@Marvel72 the "nolanites" will stop "riding nolan or bale" as soon as the "marvelites" stop taking it in the ass from Marvel Studios execs and sucking them off. Seriously, was anyone supposed to laugh at your statement?
Oh right, you're on the nolan hate bandwagon for no reason, mainly because "we see it, we hate it." so theres no [frick]ing point in arguing with ignorant people like you.

I did this poll last summer (it never ended up on main) but I'm here to tell you that no matter that it looks like a lifesize Bobblhead, TDK wins.

I agree that Kilmers looked damn good too, minus the nips!

The Batman Returns suit was pretty good too. It was an improvement from the first movie.
bcom77
bcom77 - 9/6/2011, 2:32 PM
I'm undecided when it comes to the actual full suit. Non of them really spin my wheels. I go more by the cowl and for me, it's a toss up between Batman Begins and Batman Returns.
LeoAtrox
LeoAtrox - 9/6/2011, 2:33 PM
Batman Begins gets my vote. It is not quite as "faithful" to the look of the comic suits as the Adam West design, but it was the best compromise between the comic suits and the need for realism ... TDK get's runner-up for its functionality.

Looking at these photos is a good reminder how awesome Burton did with the costume and set design in Batman. I don't care for his cinematic style, but Batman was a triumph in its time; and Keaton's Batman still looks bad-A.
capcyclopsftw
capcyclopsftw - 9/6/2011, 2:34 PM
Returns was the best....They fudged up the bat logo in the first movie, but got it right in Returns. Also, it didn't have any fake ass stomach muscles.
cole33
cole33 - 9/6/2011, 2:37 PM
Nolans of course, it represents it best, TDK, Hi tech, mobile, form and function.

Burtons just looks too stiff, and the last thing batmans suit represents is immobility, just hyper aware it's a dude in a costume, instead of a guy in a uniform.

west, kilmers, clooneys need not even be discussed.

Batman Begins all the way. Didn't like Keaton's. The head was huge and the cape was way to short.

Bale's batman, specially TDKR is a [frick]in' bobblehead, c'mon! Did you people ever read batman?
BigK1337
BigK1337 - 9/6/2011, 2:47 PM
The choice I have to say is between West, Keaton and TDK Bale.

West - His is definately the most accurate looking Batman.
Keaton - This one is memorable and have a unique appearance with the all black look and classic logo.
Bale - Looks more realistic and gave him more movement in appearance.

Honestly I have to go with Keaton here, he actually look like a giant, menacing bat who eats criminals for a good snack.
Ceejay
Ceejay - 9/6/2011, 2:48 PM
You're all Blind and Liars, Adam West's costume is the only one that's faithful to the comic and it looks like crap! All the other suits just influenced the comic to change through out the film franchise years.

Keatons costume is proportionally odd because of his large head, lack of real physique and still plastic muscles.

Val Kilmer and Clooney jsut were never suited to be Batmen anymore than Keaton! Kilmer looks like a teen and Clooney looks like he's having a laugh!

Bale is Batman, not only that but he's the only person to get Bruce Wayne right as well, both sides of Bruce as well as the Batman even though his bat-voice sucks!

"Try firemen, less to take off."

Before Christian Bale, Val Kilmer was my favorite Batman, probably because he pulled Bruce Wayne off so well.

But I like Keaton's suit best. It's so dark and gothic, yet features the "I'm from a comic book" bright yellow colors in stark contrast.
