Why Batman’s Next Standalone Film Must Be Vastly Different Than Nolan’s

This film must establish Batman as both Gotham's Vigilante AND a Superhero powerful enough to battle Superman

In most incarnations of Batman, his character is two-fold. There’s Batman the vigilante and Batman the Superhero. Batman the vigilante is the man who works alongside Jim Gordan to solve The Joker’s, Riddler’s, Black Mask’s or The Penguin’s crimes. This is the man who is “The World’s Greatest Detective” and among the world’s best martial artists. He uses his instincts, cunning and his fists to solve crimes, promote justice in a corrupt city and instill fear in those who commit crimes. Batman has been this man since the first “Detective Comics” was published ¾ of a century ago. Although the greatest detective angle wasn’t addressed much, Christopher Nolan’s Batman captured this incarnation very well.

Batman the Superhero is the man who is essentially the Justice League’s Lex Luthor. They are both men who possess immense wealth, intelligence and power and might be the two best tacticians on Earth. Although neither man has any traditional physical powers they have the technology (both have power suits that have stood up to Superman) and the advanced minds to counter, if not neutralize, every Super-powered being. Batman in “Tower of Babel”, “The Dark Knight Returns”, “The Dark Knight Strikes Again”, “Kingdom Come” and any other storyline where he utilizes intricate contingency plans to take out power houses like Superman and Darkseid represents this facet of the character. Batman developed this facet in order to be useful to the Justice League and ultimately be the anti-Superman (Brain vs. Brawn). Although many Justice League super villains could defeat Batman (when he doesn’t have a power suit) in a brawl, it most likely would not get to that point because Batman has a contingency plan to take you out. The same thing could be said about Lex Luthor (Always found it interesting that Superman’s greatest foe and greatest ally were so similar).

Because this Affleck incarnation of Batman will have the ability to fight Superman, they would be wise to incorporate both incarnations of the character. In order to successfully do this, the movie would probably need two villains. I think it would be cool to see Black Mask become the main crime lord of Gotham and then have Batman the vigilante take down his operation. This leads to a desperate Black Mask who then buys the android A.M.A.Z.O. to kill the Batman. AMAZO, who possesses the powers of many of Earth’s Superheroes, would cause Batman to utilize a power suit other advanced tech and display his tactician skills by resorting to the contingency plans he had in place to defeat the superheroes AMAZO copied. This would establish Batman as a vigilante/detective, one of the greatest superheroes and could even introduce Project Cadmus as a possible Justice League Villain.

Can it be vastly different than Snyder's, too, please?

Still the biggest most annoying thing about the Dark Knight Rises was how Alfred knew ALL about Bane. Thats bothersome. I agree with your point though, they def need to up Batmans ability.

Why would Black Mask spend trillions of dollars in AMAZO when he could just hire a team of mercenaries for a few millions to kill him (It's still unrealistic that they would find him since he doesn't exactly have a public account that they can hack into and he would never fall for a trap).
One thing that they should is make him more realistic in a lot of points. First of all his gadgets, Batman barely had any in The Dark Knight Trilogy (The batarang only appeared in the first movie). A vigilante with so much money would build a lot of weapons. Sceond, if he was so dedicated then he would train a lot more and learn much more martials arts. Third, Batman would never run around in the Tumbler unless he wanted to be pursuited by the police. They need to make the Batmobile look more like a normal car (they can still have all kinds of machines inside).
@GliderMan Totally agree, Nolan had no reason to potray Batman like a normal person when he isn't supposed to be and there's nothing unrealistic about that.

Oh sorry, didn't notice that you wanted him to be able to do things that no human being could do even with the Super-Soldier Serum. Hell, Luke Cage couldn't do this even with captain america's Shield.

The detective part would be welcomed.
But does he have to be super powerful? Why? That's what the rest of the JL is for.
Comics and cartoons have made Batman more kick-ass by dumbing down the rest of the league. That's not what we want in the movies.
I get that he could take down the rest of the JL with his tactics, but why is that useful in the DCCU? At most it's a plot device (like that script where his notes are stolen), but at worst we get dumbed-down versions of the JL members.
Even a fight with Supes is just for show, like ironman vs thor in avengers. A cool scene, sure, but how long can they drag it on for. Hopefully not 45+ minutes.

I do think that the Batman reboot has to be completely different from Nolan's films. Have the film have a sense of realism but at the same time have obscure villains eg. Mr Freeze, Killer Croc.

These days, writers take the lazy way out and have someone ELSE do the work for him. What do we actually see Batman do? It's the one thing I can't STAND about Doctor Who - the Doctor is brilliant, yes, but how much do we actually see vs what we're told? Typically, the Doctor waves his sonic and boom - he changed the function.

Batman has to be given time doing things. He needs to punch in and actually work before punching out.
