Ben Affleck Rewrote Parts Of The BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Script While In The Batsuit

Apparently Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck was less than thrilled with the original script for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and spent quite a bit of time rewriting parts of it, even while in costume!

It's been three long years since the original announcement at San Diego Comic Con, but now in just a little less than a month, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will finally hit theaters worldwide and show the world (hopefully) exactly what it's been waiting so long to see.

When looking at the cast, Ben Affleck is easily the most well-known member, however once you factor in his directing and screenwriting credits, which are considerably more illustrious than his acting career, he's likely the most accomplished person on set overall (save for maybe five-time Academy Award-nominee Amy Adams). Affleck has two Academy Awards to his name - one for co-writing the screenplay for Good Will Hunting alongside Matt Damon (Jason Bourne) and another for producing Argo - and is a top-level talent worth listening to. So, what does this have to do with Batman v Superman?

Well, as it turns out, Affleck wasn't too thrilled with the original script for the upcoming blockbuster, which was originally penned by David Goyer before being rewritten by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio, who has also been enlisted to write both parts of the Justice League. According to US Weekly, Affleck reportedly performed quite a few rewrites throughout the film's production, even rewriting parts right before he was set to shoot, while fully suited up in costume. They add that Affleck "would go into wardrobe and get all suited up for the day in his Batman suit, Then he would sit around reworking the script. Ben wasn’t thrilled with it and would find himself on multiple occasions fixing it the day of.” Now, this is by no means a bad thing as Affleck is an accomplished screenwriter and any contribution he made was probably for the best, but it does raise the question of what was so displeasing about the original shooting script that Affleck felt the need to utilize his own talents to fix and/or improve it? Thankfully, fans will likely never know.

Additionally, it sounds like writing for Batman here may have gotten the creative juices flowing for Affleck to potentially write and direct a solo Batman feature. US Weekly's source adds “Ben was excited to do a Batman film, He’s fascinated by the character!” A Batman film written and directed by a Boston native? Now, wouldn't that be a treat?

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

@TheOneAboveAll - Only news that would make it better is if Affleck also directed parts of the film while wearing the Batsuit.

Was this before Terrio touched it or after?

@BlackStar25 - Most likely, after. If he rewrote it while in the set, the final shooting script would have been finished by Terrio by then, and Affleck made his revisions over that one.

"According to US Weekly"

So it's bullshit then, they arn't reliable in the slightest, also kind of weird timing that NOW they would get this scoop about BVS. They are about as Reliable as Hollywood life, which has been accused of making up.....every single story.
