SILVER AND BLACK: Latest Rumors Suggest Riz Ahmed's Mystery Character Could Appear; Tombstone & Tarantula Too

Following the news that Riz Ahmed is in talks with Sony to join their upcoming Venom movie, a new rumor has surfaced suggesting he may also be in line to appear in another spinoff, Silver and Black!

Last week, we learned that Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) was in talks for a major role in Sony Pictures' upcoming Venom spinoff and then on Friday, we caught word that the studio had set a 2019 release date for their Black Cat/Silver Sable spinoff, Silver and Black.

While rumors have been circulating for months about both projects, the studio hasn't been particularly forthcoming with details, save for the casting of Tom Hardy (Dunkirk) as Eddie Brock. When news of Ahmed's potential addition broke on Wednesday, many were quick to assume he had been cast as Cletus Kasady a.k.a. Carnage, who has been widely rumored to be the villain of the piece. However, later that same evening, The Tracking Board's editor-in-chief Jeff Sneider hinted that Ahmed may actually be in line to play another Spidey villain: The Chameleon.

Following the release date news on Friday, Sneider returned with another mini-scoop, revealing that his sources have told him that Ahmed's mystery character might also appear in Silver and Black, which, based on what we've heard about the film thus far, could mean the Chameleon rumors may, in fact, be true as it's unlikely Carnage would appear without Spider-Man or Venom. He also adds that fellow Spidey villains, Tombstone and Tarantula, are also expected to make their cinematic debuts in the Gina Prince-Bythewood directed film, which more or less confirms another rumor that surfaced last month.

@BaronZemo - So let me get this straight. Sony wants to have Spiderman exist in the MCU but his villains exist on their own without him in a Sony Universe?

What is the logic in that? That's like have a Transformers movie with humans as the villains. Oh wait...

@SonOfAGif - I think you've misunderstood, and no doubt it's due to Amy Pascal and her Xanax-induced ramblings.

Venom and S&B aren't part of the MCU. The Spidey in this universe (when they get to showing him) isn't Tom Holland, it'll be another actor/characterisation.

What if Riz Ahmed is playing a masked, adult Spider-Man, who is being used to show he does exist in this universe...would piss a lot of people off but would actually make some sense to connect this Spider-Verse to Spider-Man, and because he's masked it wouldn't be affected by his ethnicity, and he might be able to pull a new york accent.

Have to admit, it's odd that we're all here talking about a SS/BC movie that DOESNT feature Spider-man. That being said I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with it at this point. I think we can all be hopeful that it can at least be better than most female led cbm's.
SS and BC can be good leads. So you never know...
