Netflix managed to rule the roost at the 76th annual Golden Globes Awards last night as Roma and The Kominsky Method took home some of the show's biggest awards. Unfortunately for Black Panther, it was Bohemian Rhapsody that walked away with the "Best Drama" gong. Director Bryan Singer, however, didn't receive so much as a single mention during the event.

There were some big surprises during the night and awards were handed out in both the film and television categories which no one expected (favourites like Lady Gaga and Mary Poppins Returns were left empty-handed).

On the plus side, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse managed to win the "Best Animated Feature" prize and there's nothing to say what happened at the Golden Globes will have an impact on Black Panther's future awards chances - especially as this awards show is largely viewed as meaningless by those in the industry.

I don't think Black Panther was expected to win. Heck, it probably surprised a lot of people when it got nominated. But Bohemian Rhapsody was a surprising winner. I liked the film, mostly because of Rami Malek, but it was by far my least favorite of the nominees in that category. Of course, I don't get to vote for the winner, so good for it. But yeah, Black Panther wasn't snubbed. The nominations that it's getting are just an additional reward it didn't even need. It would be nice if it was winning, but there are smaller films that need the recognition more. Is Bohemian Rhapsody one of these films? I'm not sure about that.
