RUMOR: BLACK PANTHER 2 Could Introduce DOCTOR DOOM To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Take this one with a big grain of salt for now, but a new rumor reckons the upcoming Black Panther sequel will introduce Doctor Doom to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the main villain of the movie...

There's been a lot of rumor and speculation relating to which of the characters that returned to Disney/Marvel after the Fox acquisition would be the first to make their MCU debut, and now we might just have our answer.

According to Charles Murphy, who had a pretty good track record with Marvel scoops when he wrote for MCU Exchange, the plan is for Black Panther 2 to introduce Doctor Doom as the main villain. Murphy cautions that this is not a "hot scoop" just yet, but it is something he has heard from a reliable source.

Apparently, "Victor Von Doom will began expanding his empire, conquering parts of Africa and, ultimately, come into conflict with the nation of Wakanda and the Black Panther."

How likely is this? Well, we know director Ryan Coogler has only recently begun to outline the script for the sequel, but that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't already locked down the main story, so there's always a chance details have leaked out. Plus, Doom and T'Challa have faced off several times in the comics (most notably in 2010's Doomwar), so there is some precedent for a clash on the big-screen.

Even if this is an idea that's currently being discussed, it's very early days so things could always change before the screenplay is complete. Still, there's no denying that Black Panther 2 be a great way to bring this iconic character into the MCU!

If it's going to be anyone...it should be Namor

@MNLawyer -
Why not both

@TheUnworthyThor - Why? I think it could be interesting to compare and contras these two characters.

Question:
Expand his empire?
When did he BEGIN his Empire and how did it go completely unmentioned in the past 20+ MCU Films?

So much potential for Doom to be his own thing...hopefully, he safely escapes the triviality of becoming fodder as “sequel villain”.

I could see it. But I doubt that's how he will be introduced in the MCU.

Ok, this is very interesting. Doom or Namor, for me is good.

Curious how they'll explain why he and his entire nation haven't even ever been so much as an easter egg before. If such a powerful character existed you'd think he'd have gotten involved. Maybe he'll be yet another character filling the void left by Iron Man. But that's not very satisfying.

@FleischerSupes - Could be the secret buyer from Ant-Man and the Wasp. Probably isn't...but that answers your question for plausibility.

@FleischerSupes - I mean captain marvel has existed for almost 30 years and we didn't get much before her intro.

There's too many corners of the universe to get an Easter egg to everything. There's been winter soldiers conquering countries as well as Killmongers. That's not a problem in my opinion

@FleischerSupes - I’d set it up so that the snap/The Blip brought as of yet unknown characters out of ‘hiding’ so to speak. Doom was content to rule his nation without interference from the outside world. But The Snap effected him in such a way that he was forced to rise and take action. Same for Namor. Imagine how Namor reacts when half of Atlantean vanish?! What if HE vanished in The Snap but was brought back!? He would be pissed that it happened at all and want to know who was responsible.
