Chris Evans Still Doesn't Have His WINTER SOLDIER Script. Filming Delayed Till June?

Chris Evans has stated that he has yet to receive his script for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and another source reports that shooting has been pushed back from March to June. Read on for more details.

Coming off the news that Emily VanCamp has been cast as the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier we have more sobering news from two different sources. First, actor Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) was a guest on the Doug Loves Movies podcast and shared some interesting tidbits amidst all the hilarity.

On Captain America: The Winter Solider.
Evans: I don't have a script yet. We start shooting in two months and they haven't given me a script. That's how Marvel works. Different directors, it's the Russo brothers. It makes perfect sense, Community, S.H.I.E.L.D. superhero action movie [Ed Note: Evans is joking here]

When asked about cameos from the other Avengers.
Evans: Yeah, they'll be some. That's going to get me in trouble (with Marvel).

Comedian Jonah Ray and actor Martin Starr were also part of the podcast and talked about their own projects as well.

Also, over on the casting site, aptly titled Feature Film Casting, there are reports that filming has been pushed back till June from an original start date of June. Keep this as a rumor for now as FFC has been about 50/50 in regards to the accuracy of their info. If this is true there could POSSIBLY be a change in the release date.

More details as we have them.

It would be awesome if he had Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Sharon Carter, and Fury along side him in a top secret mission. Involving only S.H.E.I.L.D. and Cap, thus explaining why Stark can't help them or vise versa

It's ok to make a film longer, especially if you want to cram more stuff in the movie, nuff said.

wont be surprised if this is the weakest movie in phase 2, just like how the first one was the weakest movie in phase 1, wonder if captain America will actually look like a convincing supersoldier in this one

Marvel keeps their projects super secret..makes sense they won't release scripts until the very last moment.

Hopefully Evans will be given enough time to fully invest in the character again,in the meantime his ass better be getting pumped up so he can be physically impressive as Cap.

don't mind a delay as long as they get it right,i'm still not sold on the russo brothers delivering the goods but i haven't got any problem eating humble pie if i'm proven wrong.

ChancellorCocnutDio - Exactly. At least they're not rushing into production with a unsatisfying script just to hit the release date, like most big studios do. They're taking their time to improve the script and it's a good thing.

And while I agree the Russo brothers directing a Captain America/Winter Soldier flick doesn't make much sense to me, I still believe Feige choose them for a reason. I mean back then Jon Faverau for Iron Man didn't make much sense either. And oh boy was I proven wrong!

@ashleytdkr - He's still the guy who got the Marvel Cinematic Universe rolling, and who against all odds brought Joss Whedon (a guy with two canceled TV shows in a row and a no experience in big blockbusters) to helm their big gamble of a movie that turned out to be one the highest grossing movie of all times. And he also let Joss Whedon rewrite from scratch the entire script, which had been already approved by the production. What kind of big studio exec does that? Well he does. Oh and he's bringing the talking Raccoon to the silver screen. And I'm a big fan of that talking Raccoon myself.

The russo brothers probably got the job because they had a kickass pitch. There's a good reason why they were chosen.

when the guy playin Captain America doesn't care about the Captain America movie. thats when you know somethings wrong.

and i agree, Russo Bros are a silly choice. and Marvel needs to stop rushing out projects just to rush out projects.

@ashley

because he doesn't have faith in a movie with an entire black cast, set in Africa, nonetheless. thats clearly the only reason to beleive Wakanda is impossible yet Asgard and the Chitauri's homeworld are.

Captain America was my favorite Phase 1 movie from Marvel. I hope they fix his ruined look from the Avengers. Looking forward to this one the most for the next Phase. Dont let me down Marvel.
Kingdork
Kingdork - 2/2/2013, 6:57 AM
@ashleytdkr - Well the difference is with the Rocket Raccoon comes the Guardians Of the Galaxy with opens the cosmic universe. A more ballsy choice. And still I love Black Panther to death, but the possibilities of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie paving the way to more cosmic/space oriented Marvel movies is thrilling. While Black Panther... Well he's just another superhero on Earth (in an "exotic" environment but still). And I believe it wasn't Fiege who made the comment about Black Panther being hard to translate on film, but it was D'Esposito. Nevertheless, Phase 3 will happens, and Black Panther will obviously be part of the roster. But with The Avengers ending with the invasion of an alien race and the reveal of Thanos (=the acknowledgement of a cosmic universe) , it makes more sense to favor Guardians of the Galaxy over Black Panther.

Am I the only one who thought they made Captain America a tool in the Avengers? I was never on his side on any of the arguments against Iron Man...and I think Tony Stark is a douche.

Also..this will suck. Even Evans knows it. A comedic director duo for a war hero? Yeah, looks like we're getting some cheese...cause the first one wasn't unbearably cheesy enough.

LOL a talking raccoon (an AWESOME talking raccoon) will be onscreen long before a Wonder Woman or Flash. Give me Rocket Raccoon over 95% of other superheroes anyway, can't wait for Guardians!

PS-The script not being finished probably has to do with IM3 filming. There's stuff that may change, certain scenes cooked up that may necessitate a change in focus for Cap 2. It's 5 months away, its not a big deal, considering Iron Man 1 barely had a script at all, half of it was adlibbed.
xcrementus
xcrementus - 2/2/2013, 7:08 AM
also, Community have a million genre based episodes, the directors know their stuff and have versatility. Other wise they wouldn't be getting the gig.

CA:TFA was so boring and if it means they are trying to make the script better by not rushing it's good.

I still think Winter Soldier as a 2nd movie is wrong as hell tho

Im surprised to hear some of you bitch and complain about Caps first movie. I thought it was great, and enjoyed it a lot. Iron man 2 was maybe the weakest of phase 1, because it shoved too many plot points into the movie. Still a good movie, but it was just trying to do too much. For all you DC trolls talking out yer ass, just go away. Marvel is actually caring about things, and getting work did ;-) ps. Tony Mother F'ing Stark would [frick] up Bats in a heartbeat!
starkresilient
starkresilient - 2/2/2013, 7:22 AM
@ashleytdkr lol you don't make any sense

batman was already popular with previous movies, marvel always went for spider-man and x-men because they were the most popular comics/tv shows just like batman. people may argue about this but neither iron man, cap, thor were A listers before the movies. Marvel took them from their B list statues and made them A league players. So comparing their solo movies to batman is not fair
