COMICS: First Look At Ales Kot's BUCKY BARNES: THE WINTER SOLDIER #1

As Bucky Barnes prepares to (SPOILER WARNING) this October, we have the first few unlettered pages from Czech writer Ales Kot's new ongoing series, featuring gorgeous arwork by Marco Rudy. Take a look after the jump..

Kot tells Vulture what we can expect from his work on the series, and Bucky's new role in the Marvel Universe. SPOILERS for the ending of Original Sin follow.

"What Bucky does is he takes over Nick Fury's old job as the "man on the wall," so to speak. On the wall between Earth and the rest of the galaxy. There are certain threats that come and have come close to Earth and might have done horrible things to us if Nick Fury weren't there. And Nick Fury has done horrible, horrible things in order to protect us. At that scale, what I'm looking at is the same basic thing as the American narrative when it comes to the rest of the world. And the narrative is inevitably breaking and transforming into something hopefully more complex and more truthful. We're all in this together."

Be sure to check out the full (and very interesting) interview with Kot at the link below.

Nice, he's getting an ongoing series!? That art is trippy. What's the story of him being connected to the cosmic side of Marvel? I've not been keeping up with the Original Sin stuff, just Spider-Man and Daredevil.

Loving the artwork.

Seems like they don't know what to do with Bucky. I would've liked to see him become the new head of SHIELD instead of the newly developed head of Man On The Wall. Feels like a holding pattern. BUT the art kinda evokes old Steranko SHIELD comix. I'll hold out judgement. Just kinda feels like the character has been in a holding pattern since Brubaker quit.

Also, quit calling him Winter Soldier.

Damn. Whoever is doing the art here needs to take a crack at Doctor Strange.

well SPOILER ALERT? I mean its Marvel's fault for revealing all of these details before Original Sin #8, but COME ON.

Those aliens on the right on the third page look like the aliens from The Explorers.

Looks like an interesting concept but it'll last for a little while and then go away. People will ask "Is Bucky still the man on the wall?" and they'll say "Well Nick Fury was the man on the wall all these years and we never saw any of those exploits." But the truth is they're just going to ignore it. Though if the Marvel reboot rumors are to be believed then I guess it won't matter.

@Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy

This is most likely BS, but apparently Blade 4 WILL happen. Unlikely.

wesley snipes back for blade 4. the best way to do it is make it a sequel to blade 3 and have all the vampires dead then a new strain appear have that event happen in the mcu.

@dio

No, it's saying that Wesley Snipes signed on for 4, and it's restating that he wanted a 4th one.

"...it is reported the actor has signed a $3 million deal to reprise in the fourth Blade installment.

It appears the info is coming from The New York Daily News, with other outlets following suit, such as the Toronto Sun."

"If this information holds true (New York Daily News is a gossip site), perhaps we'll see vampires and the horror element introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "

I'm not saying it's true, I'm just pointing out that it's news that no one posted on CBM.com yet.

Should have figured it would be Bucky to take over. Just look at what he did to that LMD not really knowing it was an LMD. Some bullshit Nick would have done in his prime.

I still feel sad for Dum Dum finding out he's been a LMD all these years. Had the poor bot thinking he had the serum running through his veins all this time.

That damn bastard Nick!!!!!!

Apologies, I haven't been following Original Sin and they don't put a spoiler in the original article so I figured this was already out there.

Considering the fact that Marvel announced this title weeks ago and that anyone with even a lick of common sense should have been able to figure out what it meant for Bucky after Original Sin, I'm really not sure why you're all having a go at Ror for not putting a spoiler warning.

Anyway, nice looking book, but a misuse of Bucky. If it makes it to issue #12, I'll be shocked!

@SmokenOaken - holy hell, u r right. whats that alien from?

Tripping Story - a friend and I ate some mushrooms on my porch. A guy, and his 4yr old grandson, that lived across the street who has a wolf, yes a REAL wolf, as a pet, had it out on a long leash (its like 3 am btw). My buddy is like "Lets go pet the wolf!", so i'm like "ok" cuz i think the thing has to be somewhat tame. So we walk over there and get about ten feet away, and the thing comes right for us, teeth gnarling and barking and growling. Scary shit, really. One of us froze and the other started waling backwards really fast (can't remember which was which). The guy was using both hands to pull the wolf back to him by the leash. Then he starts smackin it in the face and saying "he aint gonna gets cha boys, he aint gonna get cha". The whole time the wolf is gnarling at him looking like hes gonna eat him. Just some crazy intense shit. Thought i'd share.

I was expecting a spoiler for Bucky, not a spoiler for Original Sin.
Shit. So Bucky is the new Nick Fury.
