MCU: Crossbones To Return With Costume. Could Show Up In Any Marvel Movie

The next time we see Frank Grillo's Crossbones it will most likely be in a mask reminiscent of his comic book counterpart. Grillo also hints that his character could show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe prior to Captain America 3.

Crossbones screen time in Captain America: The Winter Solider was not  necessarily robust, but it was very, very effective.  Hence, there's a small but growing contigent of fans anxiously awaiting the next on screen appearance of the Captain America foe.  However, in a new interview with ScreenCrush, Grillo hints that former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA double-agent Brock Rumlow, could turn up in a film that's not a standalone Captain America feature.   First, Grillo has to stop himself from gushing about the designs for his new costume, "You know, they are so– I have to tell you…," but unfortunately, Grillo stops himself before giving anything substantial away.  However, he does go on to add, "Yeah, his face is burned. If you read the comics about Crossbones, you know, Marvel always takes their interpretation of the comics. It’s exciting."   And when asked if he could be the bad guy version of Black Widow, meaning that he's capable of showing up in any MCU film, Grillo stated, "He could show up in anything. He could have his own thing. He could really have his own thing."

Perhaps there's a chance that Crossbones make's an appearance in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron?  Or maybe there's a Crossbones Marvel One-Shot in the cards?  However, there was a nice Falcon vs Crossbones subtext developed in The Winter Soldier that I'm sure the Russo brothers will not abandon in the third Captain America movie.  I'd wager that Rumlow simply gets up to some mischief prior to the next Cap movie which is currently slated for release on May 6, 2016, giving Rumow time to show up in Avengers:AOU, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Daredevil Netflix series.

Well, with the Avengers acting as the new SHIELD, he's gotta go after them at some point.

I thought he was pretty badass in TWS.

@Merc
I have that comic! I think he only appears in the last panel of the story. He's looking at Cap from the distance with binoculars if i'm not wrong.

Hope he wears a mask that's sort of like this:

Yup he's in the shadows too so you don't get a clear look at him until the next issue. Anyway, issue #360 is a $20 comic since the movie came out.

Typo with "coud" in title. Good news though, showing up in AoU is cool just hope it's not crammed in, it needs to seem natural.

@merc actually the previous issue is really his first appearance, though only in shadow. I have a copy signed by Al Milgrom

Did Rob Liefeld draw that, or is that a headless Cap with a Wolf in the background.

I'm excited. Obviously we all wanted to see him with his Mask and be more a brutal tough to take out brawler, and we haven't got that yet. We got a nice introduction to him but we all knew it was prob gonna be more of a intro then only Crossbones appearence.

Omega

You are correct, sir.

Seriously can't wait for AOU. It is going to be absolutely massive.
I think it'll leapfrog one of Cameron's films for either highest or second highest grossing film of all time.
They'll be getting all my money as they did the The Avengers. Saw it 8 times in it's theatrical run and once more on a Iron Man marathon before IM3.

Just checked. The source that broke the casting of Grillo in 2012 also scooped that his 3-picture deal included AoU.

If the second season of Agents of SHIELD picks up directly from the events and the tone of CATWS, I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up there before any place else.
