THE MARVELS: It Looks Like The CAPTAIN MARVEL Sequel Will Feature Two Surprise MCU Actors - Possible SPOILERS

The Marvels will bring Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Spectrum together on screen for the first time, but two more big name characters from the MCU look likely to make their presence felt in the movie...

Captain Marvel 2 is shaping up to be a bigger movie than we ever expected, and while very little has been revealed about the plot, we do know The Marvels will unite Carol Danvers with Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau/Spectrum. Chances are it will be a cosmic adventure based on WandaVision's mid-credits scene, but it looks like the sequel will also include a couple of familiar faces.

Zenobia Shroff, who will play Kamala Khan's mother Muneeba Khan in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels, recently took to Instagram to share a photo of her on the movie's set with various crew members.

Look closely and you'll see the headshots of the sequel's cast in what looks to be a makeup trailer, including Brie Larson, Tyonah Paris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-Joon. However, we also see Lashana Lynch, who played, Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel, and Tessa Thompson, who will return as Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder.

This suggests we'll see both characters in the movie, which does make sense when you stop and think about it. Maria could appear in flashbacks expanding on Monica's childhood, while we know the cosmically powered hero met Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame for that epic team-up. Expanding on their friendship in some way here would definitely be welcomed by fans.

Nothing is confirmed, but we're hoping to learn more about this one as the year continues to play out.

The Marvels is set to be released in theaters on February 17, 2023.

Here’s hoping this will be Marvel’s first good female led CBM because the other two were meh/boring.

@TopBoy - I enjoyed Widow much more than I thought I would. Marvel didn’t click with me for a number of reasons.

Both this and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hype train is at a full stop. Either of these movies have given us anything to be hype over… besides a possible Namor casting.

@WruceBayne - and Namor isn't even confirmed yet.

Personally I think both black panther and captain marvel should be shelved for now until they find a good hook for both of them while giving other franchises a shot at replacing them.

@WruceBayne - this one has an uphill battle to face. Even with great marketing I could see it struggling to do good numbers.

@Shivermetimbers - I think you’re absolutely right. I think I’m order to get butts in the seats they’re going to have to introduce someone other than Kamala Khan. Maybe that Rogue from the X-men rumor might have some truth to it.

@Origame - I think BP is in trouble because of the loss of Chadwick Boseman. Recasting is going to alienate 50 percent of the fans and just passing on the mantle is going to alienate the other 50 percent. Marvel has a hard decision to make and whatever that decision is is going to cost them revenue at the box office.

Origame

@WruceBayne - I mean, just look at Harry Potter. They were able to move on successfully despite a similar loss with the original Dumbledore actor. It isn't ideal anyway sure, but what they're doing is essentially allowing the franchise to fall apart. You say either way half the fans are gonna be alienated either way, but considering the franchise is effectively over now, everyone is gonna be alienated since the most important player is just not there.
Origame
Origame - 1/1/2022, 4:18 PM

@WruceBayne - They should have waited a few years and recast Black Panther.
Maybe a few cameos in other movies so we could’ve gotten used to the new guy and THEN a sequel.

@ptick -
This is a demonstration that they have low faith in Captain Marvel 2 due to the public reaction to the first movie, even though it was financially successful they feel the need to turn the second movie into a team-up between multiple characters.

In a similar sense they are doing the same for Doctor Strange 2. Rather than delivering on the Scarlet Witch movie, they decided to have her be the main character in Doctor Strange 2.

It also somewhat acts as a protection method for Disney, as you implied anyone who disliked Captain Marvel won't be watching Captain Marvel 2. If they shove in all the poorly developed female characters into a single film they can claim racism/sexism/whatever if it fails and that 'diversity is a strength' if it is financially successful. They did the same thing with Eternals.

It does not matter to them much as it ticks all the boxes they want for virtue signalling without actually delivering development for these characters. They could, if they wanted, have fixed Captain Marvel's character but instead they are doubling down.

Did you happen to watch Captain America The Winter Soldier - It was a 2nd movie in a franchise and featured a team-up between multiple characters - Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Nick Fury and Maria Hill. As this movie is by all accounts one of the best Marvel movies, maybe just maybe it makes your theory kind of null and void, just saying or is it only in a male lead movie that team-ups can be successful ?
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 1/1/2022, 12:19 PM
@Scarilian - So by your logic Marvel also had low faith in Winter Soldier since it had pre established side characters co-star?

Actually Marvel must've had even lower faith in doing a 3rd Captain America film seeing as Civil War not only had pre established side characters but also pre established lead characters (Iron Man and Ant-Man), and they also used it to introduce 2 of the most highly anticipated characters ever (Black Panther and Spider-man).

Damn, Marvel really didn't have much faith in Captain America huh?
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 1/1/2022, 12:26 PM
@hummingbird68 - Yup, by his logic Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Ragnarok are all films Marvel had no faith in because they are team-up films. Actually, I guess they didn't have faith in No Way Home either since not only they bring in Dr Strange to co-star but they also brought in Tobey and Andrew to help carry the load. Damn their faith in Spider-man must've been at all time lows even after FFH made over a billion.

Hahahaha so I guess the MCU didn’t learn from their own success in Spider-Man no way home. Woke ass movie will flop.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 1/1/2022, 9:32 AM
@Miamiheat -
They won't learn any positive lessons from Spider-man. Doctor Strange 2 will have dumb cameos such as Xavier, 'What If' characters and an alternative Tony Stark because they don't understand that people appreciated NWH due to its handling of the returning characters as opposed to just seeing them.

Spider-man NWH completely breaks the narrative that Black Widow, Shang Chi and Eternals performed badly due to the pandemic and instead puts the focus entirely on them being terrible movies. The problem is when Doctor Strange 2 under-performs because it's about Scarlet Witch instead then they'll blame the pandemic again -_-

Phase 4 is a lost cause other than NWH
