Captain Marvel has added She's Gotta Have It actress DeWanda Wise to its cast.
According to Deadline, the star of Spike Lee's acclaimed Netflix comedy drama has signed on to join the upcoming Marvel Studios movie in a "plum role" opposite Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, but they make no mention of which character she'll be playing.
Could she be Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Spectrum, perhaps? This would seem to make the most sense considering the character also operated under the mantle of Captain Marvel early on, but there are obviously plenty of other possibilities.
Wise will also star alongside Jude Law as MarVell and Ben Mendelsohn as the villain (possible Yon-Rogg). Captain Marvel flies into theaters next year.
