I think they wanted Dr.Strange to be the MCU "MAIN EVENT" film for 2022 by giving it the traditional
early May opening slot. Dr.Strange is more typical of a summer "End of the world" blockbuster than Thor
which may come off better as a mid summer "comic relief" more light hearted action adventure film
that can take the edge off for audiences after 2 months of high stakes event movies, and before
we go back to a more serious genre film when Black Adam drops at the end of July 2022.

These seem like some smart moves by Marvel to recognize the general superhero genre landscape and
to position their movies to play off other studios films the best way possible.

I don't have any inside scoop, but I think the Black Panther move to November 11th along with some
internal production issues, will cause WB to move the Flash into Aquaman 2s mid December 2022 spot
and the Aquaman sequel moves into 2023 to give WB another film to offer along with Shazam:Fury of the Gods. Throw in the just (re) announced Wonder Woman 3, and that gives WB three DCEU sequels for
that year.

@JonC - I relate it more to Reynolds' sabbatical. Think a direct to streaming movie is not as large of a production as a big screen movie, so maybe if he returns from his sabbatical he isn't immediately going back to doing big movies

@bkmeijer - there won't be anymore Spider-Man MCU movies mate. Holland will be trapped in the Sonyverse with "No Way Home" at the end of this film. That's why he just said they view the film at the end of the franchise. Because it is.

I don't think that Holland will be trapped in the Sonyverse after "No Way Home". If that were

have gotten permission from Marvel to bring Venom to the MCU.

I think what will happen is this.

Spider-Man,and Venom will form their own corner of the MCU where they and other Sonyverse characters will interact with each other.

Morbious and other spinoffs such as the Sinister Six, Silver Sable, Mile Morales, and more,will be introduced in these Sony-produced films which will also be free to reference events and characters from the MCU, even though those characters will not, with the possible exception of the former
Netflix Marvel characters Daredevil and Kingpin, appear in Sony-produced films.

This way you can have a Spider-Man vs the Sinister Six film using the MCU developed characters
and the actors (Michael Keaton) who played them without having them jump universes.

When Sony reversed course on its post-FFH decision to remove Spider-Man from the MCU into
their own Sonyverse, they reached a deal where Marvel would produce one more Sony film
(No Way Home) and one MCU film featuring a Spider-Man.

That could be Multiverse of Madness, but I don't think it is. What could be happening is that
Spider-Man goes to his own corner of the MCU with other Sony characters and that corner
would technically still be in the MCU.

Spider-Man would still be a known character in the MCU and would be name dropped in
various Marvel films, but somehow always busy elsewhere or otherwise unavailable.

Marvel would be free to ignore other Sonyverse characters such as Venom and events relating
specifically to them except in the most general terms, such as "I heard Spider-Man fought
a monster version of himself in New York a few months ago"

Spider-Man would do his Venom crossover film and appear in other Sonyverse films before
reappearing in the MCU in a major crossover film such as Avengers 5.

When asked by the other Avengers where he has been since NWH he could just say.

"I was just busy in Queens being your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man"
