From day one, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has come under fire from some comic book "fans" due to her thoughts on feminism. That and the notion that her Carol Danvers doesn't smile enough for their liking has seen the Oscar-winner face frequent abuse online, so her reaction to being asked about her MCU future at D23 doesn't really surprise us.

Asked how much longer she plans to play Captain Marvel beyond The Marvels, Larson responded, "I don’t know. Does anyone want me to do it again? I really don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that."

The actress seems genuinely quite put out by the question, and seeing as Carol is the most powerful superhero in the MCU, it would be a real shame if Larson is already thinking about moving on. Marvel Studios fumbled the hero's introduction in some ways, so the hope now is that The Marvels will make up for that.

On a brighter note, Larson has high praise to share for her co-stars Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris.

"I know I say that a lot but it’s just like, more, more, more. We need to show different ideas of what it means to be strong, what it means to be flawed, what it means to be a superhero," she says. "There are so many different ways to do it, and I think this movie gets to explore that and offload some of the pressure from Captain Marvel to be this 'Captain Marvel.'

It’s like, 'It's okay. There’s a lot of other really talented, beautiful, special women that can also help make this world a better place.'"

Check out both interviews with Larson below along with a post shared by the actress that hits back at some of the sexist trolls aghast that a superhero movie is on the way with three female leads.

The Marvels arrives in theaters on July 28, 2023.

I was not a fan of the movie good I am not a hater of the actress Salma not even her portrayal. She played it the way they wanted her to. I can’t blame her for that

I wouldn't say it's uncertain, just making light of a messed up situation. Seriously, the hate she gets is just weird to me.

@comicfan100 - I wouldn't be surprised if all the hate has exhausted her and made her question staying on.

I know I've seen people on this site deflect when celebrities complain about bullying by talking about people doing it rougher than they do. But that doesn't change the fact that thousands of people make it their mission to bring people like Brie down and make false or exaggerated claims every time they see an article on them. That's a crushing weight of negativity to put on a single person, celebrity or not.

And all of this because she simply said wanted more diversity in the press. That she values the opinions of young black women in regards to a film made for them over the opinions of old white men that wasn't the target audience. That one speech and people have hounded her for years. That's just sick.

@comicfan100 - the think the way she handles it is just as weird.

People dislike the film, I'm one of them, the movie was meh, but so was Iron Man 3...but it's sexist of me to think CM wasn't good? Both deviated from their characters, were slow, had trash villains and took their heroes in strange directions.

Hate for a film is too much, but general dislike was brushed off as hate/sexism.

Anyone who bullies is a tool clinging onto a bygone Era. But there is cry-bullying too, which is what her reactions seem to be doing.

I was hyped for her as CM, movie didn't hit and she got weird, maybe they are removing her in the film and she isn't happy, maybe it's bullies, maybe both her and internet trolls are dumb?

@comicfan100 - She is a PR nightmare.
Captain Marvel got a lot more hate than it deserved because in every interview she would say something stupid, to the point they started putting Sam Jackson next to her so he would basically do the promotion.

@comicfan100 -
"the hate she gets is just weird to me"

She and Gwyneth Paltrow both exploited the death of Stan Lee to try and sell merchandise and promote themselves.

Brie has also repeatedly attacked the fanbase.

Or, and here me out, she got hate for being a terrible and unlikable person.

How can we still make the argument it was sexism that was at the root of the complaints with captain marvel after wonder woman was released and had none of those issues? Not to mention so many people hating on captain marvel were recommending Alita battle angel instead.
