Wow. Just, wow. Day 2 at the Wizard World St. Louis event was spectacular, as to be expected. The lines were longer, the costumes were better and the company was fantastic. It feels good to be among people who have all come to this one place for the same reason, to enjoy each other’s company. To share our love and interests in all things comic book and movie (tv too).

The show started earlier today, but with a much larger crowd. The number of V.I.P.’s alone was mind-blowing, most of which were dying to get their time with Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse) and Matt Smith (The 11th Doctor from Dr. Who). The crowd was pumped and ready to tear into the guts of the convention. Despite waiting hours to get inside, time flew by waiting all the amazingly dressed guests flock into the room until the clever man with the microphone got the fans to let out a loud “Wizard World” chant and welcome them into the main hall.

There was a very big difference in the showing of interest in the genres of fantasy, comics and technology as families came complete with matching shirts, friends as entire anime casts and couples as some of the most recognizable couples in pop culture. As some cosplayers stopped to pose for photos, others went to spend time with their favorite comic book artists, actors and actresses in the intimate show rooms set up especially for lectures and chats with the guests. This year, guests were greeted with quite a few panel choices to attend, many based around the history of Batman thanks to the Dark Knights 75 Anniversary celebration this year. Bat-fans were treated with something extra special when Athena Finger, grand-daughter to the often unaccredited co-creator of Batman Bill Finger, made her very first Wizard World appearance in St. Louis. I personally spoke to Ms. Finger and she was ecstatic to be a part of the event and to hear about all the lives Bill has touched through his contributions to the creation of Batman.

From there, the real fun began. Tons of fans lined up hour after hour for the Q & A sessions with many of the celebrity guests. This was my first year attending these and I would have to say, it is a must see for anyone who attends a Wizard World convention. I was able to attend the shows with Eliza Dushku and the Dynamic Duo, Adam West and Burt Ward. The amount of love, care and comedy overflowed during those Q & A sessions. Eliza reassured the fans that she is as tough in real life as she is on screen, but also has a soft side, even for babies crying in the audience whom she even held personally to comfort. Later on, Burt Ward made sure to put Adam on the spot with their completely clever and comical back and forth that kept the fans entertained from start to finish. They are definitely a one of kind pair of superheroes, whose love for the characters they are know so well for portraying extends so far beyond the tv screen, that simply being in the same room with them makes you feel as if you were watching the show live.

The fun didn’t stop there as the costume contest was ready to begin and then came THE AFTER PARTY! There was also another party/screening of an awesome new film called Four Color Euology, a comedic drama about a young man whose must up give up his perfect life to aid his ill mother, while searching for answers about his father with his unique family and friends. The cast was there to pose for photos and talk to fans as they sat and chatted about the new film, starring Jason Contini in the lead role.
Day 2 was an experience unlike any other, with back to back events ready to entertain all of the guests who travelled to the America’s Center to be a part of such an incredible affair. Day 3 is right around the corner, and I’m certain it will be the perfect ending to a simply awesome weekend.
