Get ready for a new brand of web-slinging action in your first look at Scarlet Spider #1! From the red-hot creative team of Chris Yost & Ryan Stegman, Kaine – the all-new Scarlet Spider – finds himself on the run in Texas after saving New York City from becoming the world’s largest spider nest during Spider-Island. But when his escape is stopped by a super-powered crime syndicate, Kaine must put an end to their corruption the only way he knows how…violently.

"Scarlet Spider is a book that can deal with a character much like Peter Parker but at darker, more difficult place in his life," said Stephen Wacker, Marvel Senior Editor. "The violent choices he’s made through years of struggle—the sins of youth, so to speak—have come at a brutal cost. He may hope that the things he’s done will be left to the dusty, yellowed pages of history, but someone ALWAYS remembers who you used to be."

Redefining power & responsibility, no fan can miss the brutal debut of Scarlet Spider #1 hitting comic shops everywhere, this January.

Spider-Island
Kaine is then further mutated by the Jackal into a hulking spider-like creature: a man's body, with a spider head, covered head to toe in spider hair, with 4 spider legs projecting from his back.[13] The Jackal makes him the first of his army of individuals to use during Spider-Island[14]and dubs him "Tarantula"
As Tarantula, he is put under the control of the Queen, acting as a personal bodyguard and henchman to the Jackal during Spider-Island. Knowing about the genetic relationship between Kaine and Peter Parker, the Queen sends Kaine to Horizon Labs, to tamper with a cure being developed there for the "Spider-Virus". This culminates in a battle with Peter Parker (made aware of the recent access to his private fingerprint locked lab), after which he's forcefully submerged in the pool of highly concentrated cure.

Kaine re-emerges, his mind-link with the Queen broken, a fully healed clone of Peter Parker. Despite the serum somehow curing him of every trace of his former degeneration, including his heavily scarred skin, Kaine claims to have retained his powers and abilities.[15] In the final chapter of Spider-Island Kaine, now fully cured and seemingly a perfect clone in every way Ben Reilly was, helps take down The Queen.

Kaine and Peter grab costumes from Peter's lab, Kaine opting for the sonic-shield "Big-Time" outfit as the two head off. While Peter goes to the Empire State Building with Mary Jane to cure New York, Kaine stays behind with the Avengers to fight The Queen. As Peter weakens the Queen, Kaine and Ms. Marvel attempt a move that she had originally perfected with Spider-Man. She swings Kaine by a web and launches him at the Queen. Kaine turns on his sonic-shield to protect himself from the Queen's sonic scream as stingers (like Peter's from The Other arc) erupt from his arms and he goes through her throat, delivering the killing blow.[16]Afterwards, Kaine evades the other heroes during the aftermath of the battle using the suit, but Madame Web is able to 'see' him regardless, and talks to him about his future. Kaine meets up with Peter at the airport where he is seeing off Aunt May, unmasked and free of his former degeneration. Kaine informs Peter he is leaving New York, and that he is keeping the stealth suit due to Madame Web's advice.[17]

So will Kane go out and rescue baby May from Osborn? Or, does baby May not exist anymore as a result of BND?

EXCERPT FROM LINK I POSTED...

How does Houston differ from other locales in the Marvel Universe?
Chris Yost: Well, it's pretty much unexplored, so that's something. They don't get a ton of super-heroics or super-villainy down there, as far as we know, so it brings some freshness to the book. In New York, you assume there's nothing the people haven't seen. Spider-Man swinging by? Annoyance. Galactus showing up? Must be Tuesday. But in Houston, there's going to be a very different reaction to Scarlet Spider, one that will surprise even him.
What new challenges will Houston itself offer for a webslinging hero?
Chris Yost: Well, as every comic book reading Houstonian on the Internet has pointed out, Houston doesn't have as many skyscrapers as New York, so webslinging around is going to be a different experience. Kaine is going to deal with it in an amazing, unheard of way on occasion: by issue two, he'll actually drive a car. He might have to hop on a bus, stick to the side of a truck—the possibilities are limitless.
It's also really humid there. Sweating will be an issue. Grackles are a problem. Houston will offer some challenges, but it's not like Godzilla lives there. The biggest challenge is the people he's going to deal with, and starting a new life.

I saw this quote about the character called Kaine "He may hope that the things he’s done will be left to the dusty, yellowed pages of history, but someone ALWAYS remembers who you used to be" and thought this was about the Republican nomination race.
