COMICS: Free GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY "Infinite" Digital Series Launched

Guardians of the Galaxy #0.1 introduced readers to Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, but Marvel are now launching four free "Infinite" digital comic books which will provide insight into the characters of Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Drax and Gamora. Check it out!

Marvel has made it clear that their new Guardians of the Galaxy series is accessible to anyone hoping to learn more about the team before they make their live action debut next year, but four digital comics are now also being released in order to offer fans a chance to get to know the characters a little better. Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Comics is written by Brian Michael Bendis and pencilled by Michael Avon Oeming, and it takes full advantage of the digital format as did the Avengers Vs. X-Men specials that Marvel release last year. "They are very unique individuals but there’s something very classical about them as a group, like Robin Hood and his Merry Men, like Firefly, like Han Solo and Chewbacca," Bendis says of the team. "The Guardians are characters that have risen above their terrible upbringing and have chosen to do something worthwhile in this lifetime. That makes them heroes. The fact that they are so unique, the fact that most of them are one-of-a-kind, makes them all the more heroic." The first issue is now available to download and a selection of artwork from that can be found below.

Honestly...somewhat obscure choice for a property to develop...no matter how cool they are, they are still no a group even too many long-time Marvel readers are familiar with.

I was kind of hoping this would explain to me more of Drax's story. I've started reading the 2008 series recently, but I don't plan on going back and re-reading every single story these characters ever appeared in. This doesn't really tell me anything about his personality or background, it's just a fight scene. Still it's free, so can't complain too much. It was aite, I'll still check the other infinites out. 0.1 was fantastic none the less, looking forward to the main series
