COMICS: Is SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #9 As Controversial As AMAZING #700? Find Out Here!

There's been a lot of talk about Superior Spider-Man #9 being as upsetting, controversial and shocking as Amazing Spider-Man #700, but is that really the case? Who comes out on top in the battle between Peter Parker and Doctor Octopus? Find out here! MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

In Superior Spider-Man #9 (which went on sale today), Otto Octavius seemingly manages to destroy Peter Parker once and for all. As well as deleting his memories from the golden Octobot - a device that Peter uploaded his mind to in Amazing Spider-Man #700 - the villain came out on top when the pair did battle in his brain. It sounds confusing, but if you've been reading the series you'll know that Peter has slowly been regaining control of his body. However, Otto finally detected his presence last issue and manages to wipe out ALL of Peter's memories and the fragment of the hero that was left when he journey inside the brain that they were sharing. Perhaps what is most interesting about this is the fact that Doc Ock no longer has access to these memories either; how will that effect his duties as the "Superior" Spider-Man moving forward? Check out some excerpts from the issue below and be sure to sound off with your thoughts on these shocking events in the usual place! Make sure to also pick up the issue itself because there is obviously still an awful lot more to the comic than just these few pages...

This issue humiliated Peter Parker. I was reading this run in anticipation for when Pete would fight back but now it just seems pointless. Slott's writing has just seemed lazy since Alpha. I want to like it and see where it goes but I'm just not enjoying the ride. At least the art was good, I like Stegman.

Should have Peter return as Spidey, but be influenced by what Ock did and use gadgets and devices to help him in crimefighting.

They're still playing up the hype machine. Peter will be back. I think it is pretty crappy of them to do this to him and try to make him look like the bad guy (sort of). Ock has stolen Peter's body and life, and is ruining what Spider-Man is, and Pete's in the wrong? SpOck has been interesting, but he isn't Spider-Man.

At least there's Aaron's Thor: God of Thunder, Fraction's Hawkeye, and Cho's Savage Wolverine to fall back on. Weirdly enough, Bendis' Uncanny X-Men has been pretty good so far, although I mainly just love Bachalo's and Irving's artwork.

"You don't deserve to be Spider-Man."

Oh, so Peter wavers slightly in being a hero, and Ock, the guy who has killed so many people and tried to wipe out countless lives DOES?
Way to piss off the fans even more...

Peter, if you are going to use the Batman defense of "never kill", don't be a selfish prick who ends up nearly getting a little girl killed for your own gain. The Batman defense kind of fails when you do that dude. Both of them were pretty much right but Ock seemed more so. Which honestly is a little weird to digest.

Sigh, I think superior is a fun idea but it's dragging out a bit now. I'm hoping this 'mind wipe' is to facilitate a separate reincarnation of Peter and a physical confrontation between him and spider-ock

@DrDoom: You're all imbeciles for 'bitching' about a professional writer's writing and you couldn't possibly do any better.

Eh, Doc has some good points, but Peter trying to let the girl die is highly out of character anyways. Regardless of trying to protect his existence, Spidey's been willing to get himself killed for much less.

Dan slott proving yet again he cannot write Peter Parker at all. That whole thing with Peter and the little girl is just completely out of character for him. Then again slot has written Peter out of character since his run began.

Just shows that people don't know what a "Hero" is.Peter's not a killer, and he shouldn't be..Ock's not a hero and he shouldn't be.I also find it funny that the fact that Dr.Octopus was a villain because of brain damage has been almost completely forgotten.

I can't believer there are people who defended Doc Ock, do you people forgot how he can be spider-man in the first place ? let me remind you he killed Peter Parker then stole his body and his whole life, anyone who likes Otto as inferior spider-man.............I just don't know what to say, it just makes me facepalm.

Why did they let Peter hang out for 9 issues only to kill him again ha ha (to boost sells), if they wanted him gone should have done it after 700 and then brought em back later....

Peter Parker Created Spiderman to help the Innocent and stand for Justice. He made a Promise to his Uncle Ben. This spits on everything Pete stands for. Spiderman doesnt kill People.. Marvel drop the ball on this one

I won't complain about the writing. In fact, I'll praise the high quality of the work being done. But marvel is stepping away from its own cornerstone with this book and it hurts as a fan. Marvel comics is embodied by Peter parker. I named my own son after him (Parker). Why do this? Is this a short stay to sell the tpb forever? Is this permanent? Why? This is as bad as brainless professor X. I dropped nearly all of my marvel books. This was no help.

Anyone that tries to condone what Octavius has done as Spider-Man and actually prefer him to Peter are not Spider-Man fans because they have absolutely no clue what the character is even about. I'm thinking Dan Slott falls into that category as well. Peter would never, NEVER choose to save his own skin as opposed to an innocent child. I don't even know how Ock could even go there considering he was the reason she was in that condition in the first place.
Anyone that doesn't see this for what it is (a gimmick) should really take a look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves just how stupid they really are.

People are going to buy it because it's "Spider-Man". But true Peter Parker fans will not. I refuse to purchase this and to be honest I've been getting most of my information online. Just waiting until Peter comes back and if I'm correct we can expect that around summertime next year when the movie comes out. All about the money and nothing about the integrity of the character.
