COMICS: Marvel Announces Four-Issue ULTIMATE WOLVERINE Limited Series

Yes, Wolverine was one of the many casualties during the critically panned Ultimatum, but next March will see the launch of a four issue limited series featuring his son Jimmy Hudson, a.k.a. Ultimate Wolverine. Check it out!

What happens when you allow a writer like Jeph Loeb to kill off a fan favourite character and half of the Ultimate Universe along with him? Why, you introduce his son who pretty much looks and acts exactly the same way of course! Next March will see the release of Ultimate Comics Wolverine from the creative team of Cullen Bunn (Fearless Defenders, Venom) and Ramon Rosanas (Marvel's Iron Man 2 Adaptation). As you can see below, legendary artist Art Adams will provide covers. Also below are comments from the writer about what he has planned for the four issue limited series.

"In terms of a great comic book story, Jimmy Hudson offers the best of both worlds. He's the son of Wolverine, so he has a pedigree and a rich history to draw upon. At the same time, though, there's quite a bit of mystery surrounding his origins. With this series, I have the chance to play those two elements--the pedigree and the mystery--off one another. Once this story is told, Jimmy will have a better understanding of where he came from and a clearer vision of where he's going. I'm also getting the chance to do some things in this mini-series that will impact the status quo of the Ultimate Universe. It's nice to know what happens in this book will have some lasting effects on the character and on the stories to be told in the future."

I thought Wolverine's son was blond, and thin, and a teenager? At least, he was in the Ultimate Comics: X-Men #1 I downloaded (it was free, I was curious, it was stupid)

To people who are saying the ultimate universe sucks you clearly haven't read any of it, if you're talking about post-ultimatum then yes I will give you that, but ultimate spider-man has been one of if not the best marvel title over the last 12 years and easily the best spider-man book , and the ultimates and the ultimates 2 are one of my favourite comic book stories of all time.

Ugh. I don't know whats worse; Marvel letting Loeb gut its Ultimate line or continuing to release Ultimate books after Ultimatum. Seriously... reboot the fracking UMU or just let it die.

Ugh.......Okay Wolverine in the Ultimate continuity contrary to his 616 counterpart is Hugh Jackman handsome. He's not really a short man nor looks like he's been through WW2. He really does give Scott a run for his money in the looks department.

Also is this the same artist that felt that Sabertooth in the ultimate universe needed to be reduced to a mindless beast which is contrary to his more sophisticated look and appearance?

Come on folks, Marvel has a damn book for continuity.

The Ultimate U started off so strong. And then Ultimatum came along. Ever since that, the only title worth reading has been Ultimate Spidey. Still, we got Ultimates vol I and II out of all of that. Kind of wish they'd let the Ultimarte U go at this point and start something else. They'd get flack for it, but is that any worse than flogging this dead horse? But maybe I'm in the minority. Perhaps a lot of folks still like the goings on in this universe.

Marvel, for a good ultimate universe you have:
-Keep Spidey Miles as good as he is,but stop making he living in the legacy of peter(Every edition is like a funeral for peter)
-Make the Ulltimates like the avengers movies(At least the characters would be better this way)
-Make ultimate version of both classic and new marvel characters, like:
Runaways
Sentry
Wonder Man
And others

If marvel cant do it they should make a "Crisis in the Ultimate Earth" where all characters die, except for Miles, who survives and go to the 616 Univers

I never thought UMU would last this long so I never payed attention to it. People here have a strong dislike of 80% of UMU so I will not read any of it. I always thought it was a dumb idea to make a brand that would directly compete with your brand. They already have enough competition with DC. SMH

Intruders idea is gold

Hush2010

Much of the UMU was pretty good before Jeph Loeb decided to "Rape" it,you really should read some stories of the beggining of the UMU like the Ultimates(Vol 1 and 2 only,Vol 3 is a shit) and spider man(In my opinion it WAS better then the spiderman comics from 2000'S).
The only thing that is good(Not even F...ing Good, just good) is the all-new spider man,Miles Morales

what a load.

Abandon Ultimate already, you have enough brain power and talent to merge the universes into a singular MARVEL for crying out loud. It's lazy, and embarrassing.

Uhhhhh.....does this mean I get to be the one, lone gentleman who comes in and says he disagrees because he likes the Ultimate Universe.....? Sure, it has its flaws, but it really is being taken in a direction that the mainstream universe could never dream of touching on. The very recent Divided We Fall storyline that crossed all of the titles was phenomenal. Each character was brought into new light and made into something we weren't able to see before. I mean, Captain America became President of the US!

.............okay, that last comment didn't help my point, but still, I like the UMU as-is.

And, honestly, I did hate Ultimatum and the fact that they killed off Peter Parker, but I am not going to complain too much about Miles Morales, one of the most original things we've seen come from Bendis in a while.

I don't think Ultimatum was THAT terrible, I mean, it was done well in my opinion, everyone was killed.. but hey, they did it well for the most part. It's a wonder Magneto never did anything like that in 616, except..oh, characters would die, and they can't have that.

Mind you, this idea seams pretty [frick]ing unoriginal, and pretty [frick]ing cheesy. This is so stupid, I might shit myself.
