COMICS: Mjolnir Arrives On Earth In This First Look At MARVEL LEGACY #1

Marvel Legacy #1 will introduce us to the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC and this first page features Mjolnir's first arrival on Earth, something that confuses the cavemen who try to prove themselves worthy!

Marvel Legacy #1 will tease the next wave of stories set in the Marvel Universe but also looks set to introduce us to the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC. Among the team members are characters like Phoenix, Black Panther, and Ghost Rider but they'll be joined by Thor's father Odin. While none of those characters are featured on this first page of the story revealed by writer Jason Aaron, that's Mjolnir!

This brings an end to speculation that the God of Thunder's father was wielding a war hammer of some sort in that teaser image as it's clear now that Mjolnir itself will be arriving on Earth in the comic.

As you can see on this page pencilled by Esad Ribic, cavemen are trying and failing to lift the hammer but aren't able to do so not because they aren't strong enough but because they're unworthy!

It remains to be seen how the introduction of this team will factor into the present day Marvel Universe but there has to be a reason for their involvement here. What do you guys think of this Marvel Legacy #1 sneak peek? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

@TheUnworthyThor -
Yeah me too, especially with Mjolnir.
Aaron covered its origin and...it wasn't supposed to be like this.
Unless it's a retcon...or if that'a not the Mighty Mjolnir...PLOT TWIST!!11!

I hope this is better than the awful Hulk Legacy comic that came out this week. I was looking forward to Legacy, but now, not so much.

@rabid - *Generations

Yeah I didn't like the message of the comic at all, or what it seems to foretell of the future.

@TheUnworthyThor - Is Generations and Legacy the same event?

@rabid - Generations is a ten issue weekly series. I think Legacy begins immediately after but that the stories don't connect.

@TheUnworthyThor - Ok, I'm just hoping it gets better. I've been reading drivel for a long time, and if it doesn't change the formula soon, I have to turn in my Marvel zombie card. That Hulk story wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

Nice. Loving the 2001 vibe. Looking forward to this. With Ribic it feels like we are back to the greatness of Secret Wars, atleast in art.

Totally confusing. Establishing that we are in the time of cavemen, Odin probably wasn't even born yet and certainly would not have had Mjolnir forged yet, as that took place when Thor was a child\adolescent. This should take place in the time of Borr or even Buri, not Odin. As if that wasn't enough, this actually looks like and OLD Odin with one eye already missing.

Someone didn't do the proper research or just didn't give a crap. Asgardians are long lived but not THAT long lived for Odin to roughly be the same age for 1 million years. There has to be time travel involved or this just doesn't hold water. The artwork however looks pretty damned good compared to most of the crap they have been turning out these days.

Odin was never imagined to be millions of years old. Not in Norse mythology and not in Marvel's 616. Thor himself was a young boy at the time of early civilization and has grown to adulthood in that span of time. There are back issues that go into stories of Odin's youth and Borr and Buri, his father and grandfather that date them. Certainly if we are close to one million years ago, Odin would either be a small child or more likely not born at all, but I can guarantee he wouldn't be a one-eyed old man one million years ago.
