This chapter kicks off the Superior Spider-Man AGE!”

That costume is very similar to the Alex Ross concept design for the first raimi movie.

There is nothing "superior" about an asshole who kills, maims, and lies in the same of a true hero.

Up yours, Slott.

@ Spideyguy94 I think it looks a lot like the Ben Reilly Spider-Man costume myself.

@CaptainObvious It's not what you and I think is "superior" it's what Doc Ock thinks in his mind is his "superior" that has been the whole idea in the book. He looks at being a hero in a different way than Peter Parker, and that's what makes the book and character in that situation so interesting.

Yup, let`s all cheer for a guy whose sole motivation is to prove his superiority. What a hero!

I dont think anyone ever really wanted to.

I feel like Otto's struggle to become the Superior Spider Man is as hopeless as Dan Slott trying to convince us that he is.

i wish parker would just come back already...

i think thats why everyone keeps buying this (myself included), is in the hopes that the next issue parker will get his body back.

That's a dope looking suit. I'd keep this.

So does this mean the final Peter vs. Ock showdown in issue 9 ends in an Otto victory?

So is this the "MAJOR" Spider-Event they keep hyping up for the summer? If so... I'm pretty disappointed, I'm not gonna lie...

@Blarcade- He's still an asshole who kills, maims, and lies.

This Spider-Man is just as unheroic as the Batman in All-Star Batman and Robin.

Wasn't there a costume like this in the 90's, minus the black lenses? I know I have a figure of it in my collection.

@REDSTORM I'm willing to bet money that issue 9 ends with Peter forcing his consciousness out of his body to let Otto believe he's finally erased Parker from his mind, giving Parker the freedom to plot how to take his body back. He's gonna end up possessing the Living Brain.

@LEVITIKUZ Thats like saying Sam raimi copied amazing fantasy 15 and the first 7 issues of ultimate spider-man. I'm not hating on raimi's spidey films because I love the first 2 but he didn't create spider-man so to say they're copying isn't really fair.

So it's Alex Ross' suit with elements of Ben Reilly, and the suit used in The Amazing Spider-Man? Must admit, it's better than the one with those claws.

I'll never bother picking these up though. Every preview for a Slott-written issue that I've read has been garbage, and I really don't like Ramos' disproportionate art. Plus, some of the stuff I've seen, specifically the stuff of Doc Ock pretending to be Peter while on dates, just reeks "American Psycho rip-off". Somehow, Doc Ock's mind in Peter Parker's body results in some Patrick Bateman wannabe.

Looks like he's wearing shoes to me.
So...when is marvel going to go all marvel on Superior Spider-Man and make Otto be Otto and Peter be Peter again?Hmm?
I like the suit though,it was about time Otto made some changes to the costume...having a slightly darker suit just wasn't enough.

marvel please put that damn Alex Ross costume to rest! It's bad enough the design got recycled into bucky Cap's costume. side bar I really like the superior suit minus the claws and cleb foot.

I actually like the suit but despise this book. I'm up to date and there is not a single good thing I have to say about it thus far. Now all these previews of whats to come... I'm starting to despise Marvel Comics.

@DarthJericho
it's the same design. Ross designed them both actually. they are both solid black costumes that "v" out at the waist to give way to their traditional design schemes

Why the change?
This suit looks cool but I like how ever since Doc took over Spidey, his suit only had small changes to it that hinted at his darker turn.

Guess I will see this as an action figure at some point.

I've been a long time Spidey fan and all I have to say about this whole superior Spider-man arc is 'no'.
RadicalDuck

This whole Superior thing really irritates me - its not that Doc Ock has taken over. Hell, I know it won't last, so its ok for a change and I'm enjoying certain aspects of it while it lasts. But what gets me is the fact that they are going for the 'darker' and 'edgier' Spider-Man...when they could have easily got to this same point several years ago post-Civil war. I'm not saying they should have had him kill the Kingpin, but definitely gone down a darker route after Aunt May has died (I like her character, but seriously, enough is enough). But no, instead, Marvel regresses the character through a phoney deal with the devil and then make out in Superior how ineffective and immature Peter is as a superhero. I found OMD quite insulting to be honest. They could have gone in a great new direction, but instead took the easy and weaker way out with a reboot. Also, in the first issue of Superior, Ock is badass taking down the Sinister Six with his use of science. Personally, I loved it, but then I remembered how Peter did similar things with Morlun, and, even though he still screwed up, how Peter was much more mature and fleshed out in JMS' run...I don't know... I just really find the whole sort of phoniness of it it irritating...sorry for the rant guys, just had to get some thoughts off my chest!
