Looks like more than one marvel character has family issues going on.

This just seems like a mess. Just read the New 52 instead, people. Those are great comics.

@Wannabe, really man? I get not liking the convolution that comes from having years of storytelling in the same universe, but to just do away with it and reboot everything like DC did? Bollocks. So many things I loved about the DC universe were changed all for the sake of "telling a less convoluted story." If you can't handle how detailed your universe has become then hire new writers. Personally I love Marvel, and it is partly because you can read a story written in 1966 and it would still be canon and referred to in todays Marvel. DC let the fans down and pulled a JJ Abrams Star Trek and made it so that the original DC timeline didn't exist at all? Or it did but then the world exploded or something? Where is main DC canon people? Why did you make every DC comic I owned prior to New 52 into toilet paper with pictures on it. I feel like DC did it so they could make everything happen for the first time again, which is cheap pageantry, and does not make their stories better than Marvel's. Why didn't they just make their own Ultimate Uni?

@huckfinnisher
That's a silly argument, if everything that's not canon is worthless than Elseworlds mean shit.

@Gliderman, I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to believe they are from the same universe. Spiderman was bitten by a radioactive spider when he was in high school and it is constantly reffered to, as well as the origins and back stories of all the characters. It does not have the same feel as the old comics but it doesn't make every comic you have ever read mean nothing by rebooting.
Not sure how much DC you read before but are you not insulted at all by the idea that reading those comics were just a waste of time (in terms of learning more about the larger universe). Nothing you ever read before that event happened. Nothing.
Marvel rebooting is an awful idea, they tried it with the Ultimates and absolutely nobody I know likes it. They also changed death in the Ultimate comics so it was more permanent like you seem to desire and we are now left with a knockoff blonde Wolverine and a bunch of other crappy wannabe superheroes. Death in comics is the way it is for a reason, you can't kill off your best selling character it makes no sense its taking money right out of your own pocket. Plus if every death was permanent there would be no DC or Marvell characters left (exaggerating but you get the point).
"opening up new story possibilities" is not what would happen, just like in DC they would just retell the old stories with a more modern twist on them. That is not worth ruining the fact that you could go into an old comic book store pick up a marvel book from any year and still be learning something about the character you love. With DC your not learning anything from the old books other than how different the world is now. Its just a waste of time to read any pre New 52 comic and I don't want Marvel to do the same thing. DC had so much growth in thier characters Kyle Rayner taking the GL mantle Wally West flash Nightwing etc. In the New 52 we don't even get to see him as robin, we are just told he was Robin its garbage.

@dethpillow, I agree that is a better solution for those having issues with the messy Marvel. I also heartily agree the ultimates was not maintained well, many characters died and left gaping holes in the dynamic of the universe. I eagerly await next years news make mine Marvel lol.

@Gliderman, Wolverine was just an example. Many heroes and villains have died in the Ultimate uni and it just sucked because none could come back. You could go the route of just not killing anyone ever, but like it or not the death of a character has an emotional impact. Also it changes the dynamic of the comics because the character they killed was truly gone for (hopefully) a while.
I don't mean to say the old DC stories aren't good, in fact quite the opposite, and I said they mean nothing in terms of learning about an ongoing universe. Any batman story you read can be entertaining as a story, but then you try to read a new issue and almost everything is different it just feels like a slap in the face to some fans myself included, who have prided themselves on learning everything there is to know about characters then that everything changes to draw new readers, while disrespecting the old ones.
I think we mostly agree though. I get where your coming from and I think you smell whats on my skillet, we are just opposite ends of the spectrum. I'll never like the new 52, but to each their own.

New 52 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AXIS garbage.

At least I can follow along with the New 52 as well as it being an enjoyable read. Marvel's comic continuity is atrocious at the moment. Almost as bad as FOX's convoluted cinematic portrayal of the X-Men. Marvel may kick ass at films but they royally suck at comics currently.

@TheDudeRusty, I see what you mean, and you make a great point but elseworlds are usually not ongoing. Just one offs, if by elseworlds you mean alternate dimensions then they actually are in continuity, most dimensions in Marvel and DC have storylines running along side other stories, not instead of them. I'm fine with story for story's sake, but not instead of a well handled universe.

Marvel's continuity is on point. If you think it isn't, then point out an inconsistancy. The continuity isn't bad just because you skipped a few titles and don't know what's happening.

Yeah, but Nightcrawler actually died and returned from the afterlife. How many heroes have actually gone that far? Usually it's some cop out "death" that puts them in stasis or leaves them hiding underground.
Speaking of Nightcrawler... if his corporeal form returned to earth from heaven, then what's buried in his grave? Potential zombieCrawler villain there, eh?

Seriously, how many times has Mystique been left for dead, or even legitimately killed off(and haunting Rogue). She just shows up without any sort of explanation of you she isn't dead. It's almost as bad as Sabretooth.

Sabretooth actually does die all the time. When you see him again, it's always a clone. The real guy is toast.
