COMICS: The Plot Thickens In Third ALL-NEW X-MEN Excerpt; "When We Were Young..."

In yet another excerpt from Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen's All-New X-Men #1, we see yet another scene featuring Iceman, Storm and Kitty Pryde as the hero frets about the current state of the Marvel Universe. And just what exactly is Scott Summers up to?!

Monday's All-New X-Men #1 teaser featured Beast seemingly undergoing yet another mutation (if you missed it, you can find it by clicking HERE) and yesterday's saw him and a few other of his fellow team-mates reflecting on the events of Avengers Vs. X-Men (find it by clicking HERE). The latest one sees a clearly upset Iceman sharing his thoughts on the current state of the Marvel Universe - clearly he's not too happy with Marvel NOW! either! It also looks like Cyclops is definitely on the run from the authorities too. Many thanks to Newsarama for the following preview and excerpt.

ICEMAN
When we were young we were always worried about a mutant apocalyptic nightmare!
I'm telling you, if the young us saw what was going on today it would feel WORSE than the mutant apocalyptic nightmare we used to WORRY about!

So then Iceman agrees with most Marvel readers over the age of 35, that sucky MarvelNow is looking like a great "jumping off" point. Wise beyond his years.

So Cyke is on the run huh? Well I'm sure Wolverine is somewhere smiling...and hitting on Emma. Stuffs getting on my nerves.

@niknik

Dont have to be over 35 to realize what's going on. Just need to love comic books enough to have read the old stuff. Then realize how low Marvel has gone.

I think it sucks the treatment Cyclops is getting. I've liked him more since Astonishing X-Men & House Of M. People keep saying Cyclops is a dick or an asshole. If he's an asshole, then what is the Scarlet Witch & Jean Grey??

I was a big Wolvie fan growing up. I got older and jumped ship over to Cyke and it is bs what they are doing to his character.

Judging from all the covers, teasers and such, Cyke is bad. Not only that, Magneto, Emma, and Magik wil be joining him, too. All of the other X-Men decide to side with Wolvie after AvsX? If they make Cyke bad, they better go all out--Make him kill some major characters, because they already ruined him.

it's a bit on the nose. "if the young us could see us" and then the young versions just turn up, seems like pretty poor writing.

@Marve87

Exactly!

I hope Bendis writes Storm better in this than he did in his run of the Avengers.

@CaptainCool

Yep me too, until the last 4 or 5 issues of AvX...

@Captain

Doesn't matter, everything that happens from here on out is a consequence of him under the Phoenix force, and it doesn't look like anyone's forgiving him (for trying to make the world a better place) for what he did while "under the influence". So it's pretty much a permanent part of his character now, unfortunately. Cyke is my fave, and if Marvel wants to make him a bad guy, go for it, but they should have written it better.

I wonder if anyone will comment on how Scott saved the world.

"Whoa, is that the guy that gave us all free clean energy, unlimited food and no more weapons of mass destruction??"

Probably not even though he did get all of that done. Ugh, we all protect Jean Grey after killing billions but let's hate on Cyke. Ugh.

niknik: I couldn't agree more. I don't think it's necessarily an age thing as much as it is being someone who has read at least some of the older comics and who appreciates just how great these characters can be and how great the stories can be.
