I will of course check out Amazing Spider-Man #700, and despite absolutely HATING what I've read about what happens in the issue, I'll MAYBE give Dan Slott one issue of The Superior Spider-Man to show me where he's going with this whole thing. However, I find it hard to imagine that I'll be picking up anything Spidey related next year... depressing considering the fact I've been reading the characters various titles for over a decade.

I'm not a fan of the new Spidey. I'm really upset about the direction Superior Spider-man is going.

why cant it just be Peter Parker?! Why do you do this to me Marvel??

Art looks great, though that mask make Spidey look like an owl, not a fan of the new eyes.
And yeah, if there's one who can sense he's not Peter it's Wolverine.

So is Amazing Spider-Man officially canceled or is it picking up after this series end? Because if not then Marvel just [frick]ed up a monumental opportunity of hitting #1000, just like DC [frick]ed up with the Batman and Superman comics. They only needed 200 more issues to hit the 1000 mark.

so this spider man is doc ock but just switched the brains of peter parker way to end one of the greatest comic books ever dan slott. Also Spider man brand new day sucks ass. How could marvel do that thank god for the ultimate universe.

The marvel universe has about 1000 telepaths, mostly mutants, and none of them can sense something's off with spiderman. All doc ock has been doing is monologue to himself. It would have been better if something happened to PP powers and he called on 2099 for help and it would make Peter a full time scientist, and having all that extra time he could get back with MJ or create more spider gadgets.

Regarding the identity of Superiror Spider-Man I am just at a stand still. Now when it came to Batman and Captain America being replaced by someone else it felt more natural and fluid. Dick Grayson and Bucky were great replacements for these heroes because these were the people you can imagine replacing Bruce and Steve. Now when it comes to Spider-Man I just don't see it at least in the 616 universe. At this point if it is Miguel or Kaine then I can some what live with it but if it is indeed Doc Ock in Peters body, then I'm sorry that's just all wrong. Peter has been getting the shaft ever since One More Day and has only been represented well in New Avengers.

I dont know if anybody has noticed,but it LOOKS like the image where spidey punches wolverine...they are standing right where the avengers assemble in the film,or near where tony is talking about shwarma,thought id point tht out

Does anyone actually remember the 90's because I seem to recall Clones, several superhero personas, and some other nonsense occurring. Some temp replacement........not a big deal in retrospect.

@TonyChu - Same here, this does not feel like passing on the mantle at all, it feels more like someone else running around in Peter's meat suit pretending to be him, the best part when Cap and Bruce handed over their mantles was to see how their side kicks made the role there own, can't believe Marvel would agree to this shit.

It's a shame Marvel pulled this crap, because I was really enjoying the development of Logan and Peter's relationship. This will definitely ruin all that work. Yet another reason to dislike Slott.

I still can't believe Marvel turned down a Spider-Man book by Joss Whedon & Bryan Hitch. Even if this before he took the job to direct The Avengers, he had a great run on Astonishing X-Men!

I'm probably part of the tiniest margin of fans that is FOR this. I want change. I like the idea of the villain swapping with the hero. Its a change of perspective that may make Doc Ock see just how hard it is to be Spider-man even if he has become "Superior". I think in time we will see Peter Parker coming back, obviously when the new movie comes out. No one said that this change would be permanent. I like the idea of the character taking a break to let the creators develop some fun ideas to explore the character once again. Even if it was Kaine, Miguel, Ben, or any other person under the mask, you all would still hate the idea. Give it a chance
