This March, Kamala Khan returns to Jersey City as a full-fledged member of the X-Men in the pages of Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace

A sequel to last year's critically acclaimed Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant limited series, the four-part comic will once again be written by Marvel Studios' own Ms. Marvel, actress Iman Vellani, and writer Sabir Pirzada. Joining them this time around will be artist Scott Godlewski, who recently made his Marvel Comics debut in the Fall of X tie-in series Alpha Flight.

Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace sees Kamala continue to adjust to her mutant identity as she makes her way back home following her explosive first mission with the X-Men. Discovering she was a mutant during the fall of Krakoa has proven to be quite the challenge and to survive the experience, she’ll have to learn how to balance her family and friends with her new X-Men responsibilities...including singlehandedly taking down iconic X-villain Mojo!

Today, we've learned that the highly-anticipated debut issue will sport a stunning variant by best-selling cover artist Derrick Chew. Also available as a virgin variant cover, the piece shows Kamala rocking her new X-costume, ready to protect a world that hates and fears her.

Ms. Marvel has officially come out to the world as a mutant and a member of the X-Men...and she’s about to learn just how hard things can get for mutantkind. Kamala Khan is used to being a hometown hero - there’s no way her community would turn on her just because she’s a mutant, right? Right?!

"It's been an absolute joy and privilege to get to co-write Ms. Marvel with Iman Vellani, who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is the voice of Ms. Marvel on the page just as much as she is on the screen," Pirzada says of the series. "We are excited to report that Kamala's mutant journey will continue on in Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace. It will be Kamala's most dangerous ride yet."

Last year, Vellani opened up on her debut as a comic book writer when she said, "The comic book process was actually pretty intimidating for me. I hold so much reverence for the creative process and the talent behind them."

"I felt so pressured to make something good and represent Ms. Marvel in a way that was true to the path paved by G. Willow Wilson and Sana [Amanat]," the actress added. "That was kind of scary, but I had such a great co-writer, Sabir Pirzada, who also worked on the show."

Check out this gorgeous new cover for Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 below.

How to force unpopular characters on to you...

Stick them in The X-Men,a comic book that actually sells.

Anyway, the amount of complaining you do is unacceptable. Are you a grown fvcking man or not?

"You whine too much." - @Variant
Variant you defend trash ("WAY") too much. And shut the phuck up 'cause you know you ain't gonna buy this comic. You buying the comic, and any other media she appears in, only highlights how much of a failure the push of her character has been. Everything she has a significant appearance/role in bombs, but the best that you can do is..."You whine too much."

If her appearances in various forms of media were making money than you wouldn't, or at least you shouldn't, feel the need to have to defend her. But go on ahead with yourself.

Vary Vary Vary, aren't you in the same comment section as @marvel72 doing the same thing that @marvel72 does in his comments? So it's not okay for @marvel72 to point out his dislikes but it "is" OK for "Variant to point out "HIS" dislikes. Gotcha.

And you accuse people of not acting like grown adults...
(You're not the intelligent person you think you are.)

@videovac - Derp derp. No, I'm not. I'm not perpetually complaining on every article. But I love this trend of people trying to equate calling people out for complaining as complaining itself. That's like telling a teacher she's complaining about your paper because she gave you an F.

Guess you thought you were the intelligent one, huh? Nope.

Series after series cancelled and wasn't Ms.Marvel the least watched Disney Plus show.

And should I mention The Marvels Box Office.

@videovac - Yeah...you definitely don't make a great point here. I'm also quite tired of the complaining. It's one thing to not like something, it's another to establish a reputation for being a constant complainer. The folks here that carry themselves this way should be embarrassed. Seriously.
marvel72
marvel72 - 1/29/2024, 2:45 PM
@Variant - It's a comment section if I don't like something I can say so.

If you like something praise it all you want but if you are going to suck Disney Dick, don't forget the balls.
Variant

@Fogs - Hardly. She's not unpopular in the first place. But also, nothing is being "forced" on anyone. It's just a whiney disposition.
Variant
Variant - 1/29/2024, 2:53 PM
@marvel72 - LOL! I don't even care about this comic book. I just saw that you were whining again so I called you out. I'm pretty indifferent about Ms. Marvel joining the X-Men.

But yeah bro, keep showing us how sad you are with more comments like, "if I don't like something I can say so."

Yes you can, dear.

*Pats you on the head gently*

You can do anything you want. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you complain too much. Don't ever better yourself. If you want to build a reputation up around being a constant whiner, you do that! You get on every article and let folks know how miserable you are!

@Variant -

I have praised Marvel Phases 1-3 and I liked a few of the movies from Phases 4 and 5 but that seems to make me a hater.

The truth is true comic book fans don't like how the comic books and movies are being handled, its all gone to shit.

Low box office
Low viewing figures
Bad reviews

Hopefully Deadpool 3 turns things around.

Any way enjoy what you want and so will I.

Variant
Variant - 1/29/2024, 3:41 PM
@marvel72 - Now we're having a conversation. I know I'm being sharp, but I'm just really exhausted of seeing so much negativity. So let's pick up where you left off, amicably.

I stopped reading comics around the Dark Reign arc. Roughly. Not by choice, life just gets busy and adulting takes over. So CBMs are my only escape into that world. Anyway, just pointing this out to establish that I don't have an opinion on the current state of the comics. I don't know how they're selling, I can't keep up with all that.

As for the films, I think there's a trend right now to be overly critical. I loved Phase 1-3. And I get that people were invested in THOSE characters and when the MCU moved on without some of them, it wasn't the same. I get that. But the quality really isn't any worse. I went back and watched Iron Man 2 and some of it was very cringey. I went back and watched Thor 2 and fell asleep. I wouldn't call either of those films "bad". They're just not great. And that's no different than shows like Secret Invasion.

Marvel Studios is actually being quite consistent. The problem is that people's expectations have risen from Endgame and now they compare everything to that climax. In reality, not everything can be that grand. Nor has it ever been.

With all that said, yes box office is down and Marvel Studios has started seeing bad reviews for the first time. But dude, there's so much illusion with that. Eternals, for example, is almost an objectively better film than Thor 2. (I know I'm picking on that film a lot but it's a relevant gauge considering it was almost unanimously considered the worst film in the Infinity Saga.) Yet, Thor 2 got way better critic reviews. Why is that? There are a lot of variables really... I think one of the major factors is industry bias. CBMs (mostly from Marvel Studios) dominated the market for so long and folks like Scorsese and Tarantino eventually come out of the wood works -- feeling over shadowed -- speaking down on the genre. Critics are noticeably getting CBM fatigue because their reviews make it very obvious they're just mostly tired of the genre. Once upon a time critics had ACTUALLY bad CBMs to compare MCU films to and so they reviewed better; the benchmark was much lower. Now the MCU is a victim of its own success. They raised the bar so high they can't make every one of their films and shows THAT good.

Do I think they should work on improving? Yes, of course. There are certain things that are inexcusable. And there are certain expectations that are warranted considering their level of success. But nothing is as bad as it's being made out to be by some people. And comparisons being made aren't proper equivalences.

Variant - 1/29/2024, 3:44 PM
@bobevanz - You must have selective reading. I already addressed this and how stupid it is to try and call someone pointing out complaining to be complaining themselves. Good try to stand up for negativity, but it doesn't work.
Fogs
Fogs - 1/29/2024, 3:44 PM
@bobevanz - that reminds me of that "stay positive" guy, trying to shut off people who didn't like stuff he did.

His idea was "if you are not going to cheer you shouldn't comment at all".

They won't even notice what they are anymore.
Variant
Variant - 1/29/2024, 3:49 PM
@Fogs - Y'all miss the point every time. It's not about having criticism. It's not about differing of opinions. You guys want to talk about how stupid it was for Nick Fury to lose his eye by a flerkin? I can do that. You guys want to talk about how awful the writing was to give granny powers in Echo? I can do that.

The point here isn't "don't ever say anything bad." It's when the complaining is excessive and predetermined. That much negativity from the same source gets old quick.
Variant
Variant - 1/29/2024, 3:55 PM
@Ryguy88 - Weren't you the same person that tried regurgitating some nonsense rumor and I had to point out that you were wrong and then you had to backpedal and say "but but but...if it were true."

The answer is yes. Which means you have no credibility to talk about "coping".
Fogs
Fogs - 1/29/2024, 3:57 PM
@Variant - I understand. Still, that last part sounds a lot like a point of view thing. How much is excessive?

A year from now, Wednesday January 29th, 2025, is Marvel still going to be shil...(Oops! Had "@marvel72-vocabulary-on-the-brain") pushing Kamala Khan like they are now? How many resources are they trying to spend to make her a universally loved figure/character? I'd be a-okay with it if they actually gave her a way cooler personality and plot points and stories to show up in, but it's clear they haven't given her cool shit for people to grab on to.

Dan Campbell's repeated failed fourth down conversions aren't repeated as often and as frequently as Marvel's continuous fails trying to push her. I bet if a real quality or good writer had her, they could make something of this character, but Kamala in the hands of the people who have used her up to this point, January 2024, have clearly not been up to the task of making her look cool.

Kamala's not real, she's a fictional character, so it's up in the hands of the people who write her. The closest you'll get is homegirl Iman Vellani and other humans who will portray her to breathe some life to her, but even then, still, they're in the hands of the writers.

Good luck.

I am sick of the character, even though i only know her from The Marvels.
She is getting on my nerves.
The comic chsracter seems to be more capable and serious.
I don't need her as a solo character, but she is certainly okay in a supporting role in Secret Wars.
I don't need a Young Avengers movie or series, that's were i draw the line.

Hey lets give her a comic! - Fails
Lets let her headline an Avengers Game - loses millions
Lets put her on her own show - no on watches, What if we put if on one of our other networks for free? - No one watches
Shes on the Champions with other character people like - book fails
Lets make her an Avenger - run is short lived, they remove her
Lets kill her off in a spiderman book people read? - No one cares
Lets put her in a movie with another character no one likes - biggest MCU bomb
Let bring her back to life and put her in an X-men crossover that is supposed to pay off years of work. Dont worry that she was never a part of it so her very inclusion isnt earned.
And when all that doesn't work, lets headline her in an X-men reboot.

...I mean, honestly.
