Hitting bookstores on June 6, "Civil War" places its focus firmly on the Avengers as a tragic event involving the superhero community forces a rift between Captain America and Iron Man over the rights of super powered vigilantes. Much of the story is seen through the eyes of Spider-Man, who thanks to the events of the "One More Day" comic series has been firmly established as single during the events on display, though at the start his secret identity as Peter Parker remains intact.

Marvel provided CBR News with an exclusive 13-page excerpt from the novel. Below, read the second chapter of "Civil War" as Spidey lands in Stamford, CT for his first day as an Avenger beefed up by a new suit of armor courtesy of Tony Stark.

Hmm, best story lines or best selling comics? Well hopefully the novel actually is a lot better than the comic it is based on. Which I have said before good idea/premise, but poorly executed which is a shame.

Wait, what? They'r asking 25$ for one book?
I didn't even pay that much for the box set of the first four "A Song of Ice and Fire" books.

Unless this this book includes all tie-in stories this isn't worth it.

(But I know myself, .. I'll probably buy it anyway)

DC been doing this for years (Knightfall, The Death and Life of Superman, No Man's Land, Crisis on Infinite Earth's, 52, etc.) and it hasn't worked out for them, so far.
I do like the post-One More Day aspect to it, though. That at least makes it interesting.

Keep up the good work. You're one of the more consistent CBM users around here. It may not make main but I'll include it in the CBM Weekly Review.

I've been reading the DC novelizations for years, Final Crisis was first, then Infinite Crisis, when I ran out of novelizations I started buying trade paperbacks and eventually switched to a rather long monthly pull list. Novelizations can work out well for a company.

I did not know that Knightfall had a novelization, I am going to have to find a copy.

I read the novelization of Final Crisis... and would recommend it to anybody that hated the comic...

I read the novelization FIRST.. which definately helped when reading Final Crisis... but I can't imagine how people that hadn't read it were able to follow the story when it came to the tpb..

so this might be worth it, maybe it'll actually make it into a much better story like Final Crisis did

I think having read the comic makes it that much more interesting to check this out. Lines like Peter saying, "This seemed easier. More natural, even", when he first uses his new stark tech spider legs to dig through the rubble create even new images and thoughts in addition to the imagery and perspectives from the source material.

This white widow adds a lot, of course...
