DONOTWANT

it's as ridiculous as making Death Note or something as an American cartoon. The Japanese have their own style of humour, what's the point in making an anime from an American concept?

This is just going to appeal to weebo, cosplaying, Japanophiles.

Seriously though, the American superhero style is masculinity and muscles - whereas with Naruto I always get it wrong when I'm trying to work out if a character is a girl or not.

@soulallflush,by reading what u just posted, u dont know crap about anime or japanese culture or entertainment.
not all anime is with guys that look like girls and talking about that, u cant really classify naruto as one of those that u described cuz its not.

its actually not that hard to change an american pop culture into an anime style. u just think its hard cuz u probably dont watch anime alot so u dont understand everything about anime. anime isnt just guys that look like girls running around making jokes.
people just think its wrong becuz they are so used to their type of culture in a specific way that they cant see it in a different way, aka anime.

i think its cool myself

I agree Anil... You would think if they did blood they would do Vampire Hunter D. With Twilight and people still liking vampires, D would be great. Ninja Scroll should be a must. I am for anime all the way. But they need to do these right. I still love the Titans.

HEY you know what would be COOOL? If all of the artists in the medium drew everything EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. That way we could do away with annoying things like originality, variety, or looking forward to purchasing comic books.

p.s. that was sarcasm. ANIME SUUUUUUUUCKS!

ANIME DOES NOT SUCK!!!!!

but ill say this, people are entitled to their own opinions so i respect that
joob234
joob234 - 7/15/2009, 9:08 PM
o and @longbowhunter: theyre doing a spiderman, iron man, hulk, and wolverine anime to help you out

but also, ill say this, i hate how people (some people here) say they hate anime when theyve probably never given it a chance. most people think anime is about rude jokes and pointless plots and sexuality when thats not anime at all. some people just dont understand the depth that anime can have, and how deep and intricate their story lines and plots can get,

VenomIsOnMyRibs
VenomIsOnMyRibs - 7/15/2009, 10:22 PM
Terrible idea.

Anime is either perverse, or full of long winded conversations that contain details of things no one gives a [frick] about,or prolonged/over accentuated facial expressions that are pretty annoying.

Can't believe they are ruining Spider-man yet again with some Asian spin on the concept. (Along with every other character)

You're either a fan of anime or you're not. There's not a big gray area, but what ever makes people aware of the marvel universe is fine with me.
bsprecher
bsprecher - 7/15/2009, 11:46 PM
I think there's no question that the actual animation produced in Japan is far superior to American animation. What kills it for most American fans who are trying to get into it are the archetypes that pop up in almost all anime: 1) The old, sometimes pervo, elderly guide; 2) The cutesy, teenage girl with huge eyes who is (fill in the blank here with mysterious origin/secret power); and 3) The ridiculous animorphic sidekicks.

Anyway, that's how I see it. I'm a big fan of good anime--Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Ninja Scroll--but there's a lot of junk out there, just like any genre.

Final word: Any cross-polination of ideas between cultures is good. Raising American awareness of Japanese animation is good and raising Japanese awareness (assuming they will watch this project over there) of American comic books is also good.

i was telling some friends about an idea for a reimagining of superman(kinda anime-ish; atleast something with a definate begining and ending).
Lex and Brainiac would kinda be his best allies, rather than enemies. Lex would provide more of the human element of the story, while Brainiac would provide the more science fiction element...and the idea's go on and on to something like Clark turning into Doomsday (kinda like Bruce Banner and Hulk) XD
Spock
Spock - 7/16/2009, 3:06 AM
@ Brent I hear You. I good cross over for anime East meets West was the HIGHLANDER - SEARCH FOR VENGEANCE. That was a great piece of work. The original Director of Vampire Hunter D & Ninja Scroll Yoshiaki Kawajiri was involved with this one.

@ darthstern your right to a degree, but cartoons are still way different than Anime.

@joob234 u are right some don't understand, good example I have co worker who points out he doesn't how they make the facial expression all big with eyes & mouths.

I thinks it's going to be sweet if they do it right. I'm a huge anime fan and yeah they can be a bit dorky but when it comes down to fight scenes they are 99.9% awesome depending on who does the anime.
