DEADPOOL 3 Star Hugh Jackman Shares Big Update On Production After Dropping Impressive Workout Video

With the Hollywood strikes finally over, Deadpool 3 star Hugh Jackman has taken to social media to share a few exciting updates as Marvel Studios prepares to get cameras rolling on the MCU threequel again.

Deadpool 3 looks set to be the movie which puts the MCU, and the Multiverse Saga, back on the right track. We've heard it will lead directly into the next Avengers movies, making it an incredibly important chapter in this era of storytelling.

Beyond that, it's also Marvel Studios' first R-Rated movie and the long-awaited Deadpool threequel which will see Hugh Jackman play Wolverine - in a comic-accurate costume - for the first time since he stepped down from the role in 2017's Logan

Now, it appears work is finally close to resuming on Deadpool 3 in the UK.

It started with Jackman sharing an impressive workout video making it clear that, now the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, he's wasting no time getting back into Wolverine shape for his MCU debut.

Yesterday evening, the actor revealed he'd met with director Shawn Levy for an "important production meeting." While we're guessing the two friends and longtime collaborators were simply catching up, there's a good chance at least a few changes were made to Deadpool 3 after the WGA strike concluded which needed to be discussed.

Now, Jackman has shared yet another update, this time confirming he's back in London and preparing to resume shooting imminently. There have been rumblings in recent days that cameras are going to start rolling again before Thanksgiving, so this bodes well for Marvel Studios' only 2024 movie.

Whether we're getting more set photos remains to be seen, though it's certainly possible after both Reynolds and Jackman were spotted suited up as Deadpool and Wolverine in a location which appeared to be doubling for The Void earlier this year.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, singer Taylor Swift (potentially as Dazzler), and even Loki's Owen Wilson expected to appear.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024. As a bonus, here's a little something for the F1 fans among you...

@Gabimaru - and the funny thing is it's all about characters and storyline they had nothing to do with 🤣

Reminds me of how their only phase 4 movie to break a billion was a movie technically owned by Sony

@Origame - It's a shame too. before, other studio *cough* sony *cough* are piggybacking the success of the creation of other studio. now it's the other way around.

@Gabimaru - Sony produced the original Spiderman trilogy too, one could argue Marvel's "success" came to be after that trilogy being huge and of course The Dark Knight changing the way Comicbook movies are perceived by general audience.

@HammerLegFoot - the exercise he is doing is literally a leg exercise, although it also reaches back muscles and biceps, but stiff is mainly focused on quadriceps

But The Marvels flopped and it is trailing The Flash on the number of articles about its failure

@vectorsigma - yeah, no one cares that the Marvels flopped. Everyone cares that The Flash flopped. What an enormous disappointment it was that the Flash underperformed spectacularly.

@WhatIfRickJames - dude, you are absolutely wrong and your bias is ridiculous. The level of failure The Marvels has achieved (and, I take no pride in that statement because I want EVERY comicbook film to succeed to help the genre) has been epically bad. Yes, The Flash did not perform well either but most knew it would not going in due to reshoots, delays, and its embattled star. The Marvels had nothing against it except it was a female led film and that is a pathetic excuse for its failure.

There are many who will defend the Flash (I thought it was pretty good; not great but not as bad as "the nerds" make it out to be) but it is RARE to see someone online saying The Marvels was amazing.

I just want to move on from Hugh already man. The longer he stays the more stubborn people get over refusing to see anyone else in the role, and it was already pretty bad before he was even brought back for DP3.
RedFury
RedFury - 11/20/2023, 10:41 AM
@Kurne - it really makes me hope that they've got a good plan of how they want to do the next Wolverine. Something that gives them the confidence to just let Hugh have his fun in the role for the end of this overarching storyline in the MCU.

Maybe I'm just being too optimistic here but if they give us a comic-accurate Wolverine after Jackman, it'll be different enough to stand out on its own.
Jackraow21
Jackraow21 - 11/20/2023, 10:54 AM
@RedFury - I think they do. Seems clear Hugh's Wolverine will be a variant, not the core MCU Logan. I think of him like the Old Man Logan variant who was kicking around the 616 Marvel U after the 2015 Secret Wars comic book event. He came to the 616 for awhile, then went back to his future and died. If his variant is indeed the FOX version, that could work nicely; with him coming over sometime after the happy ending of DoFP set in 2023, having this multiversal adventure in the 616 MCU, then going back to his own timeline before the tragic events of Logan happen in 2029. Would tie things together quite nicely, and make Jackman's second departure from the Wolverine character equally as memorable by just doubling down on the Logan ending, as that's his true definitive ending and we get say a bittersweet second farewell to him as the audience knows when he goes back to his timeline (likely at the end of Avengers: Secret Wars) that he's going to die. Man, that would actually be PERFECT honestly. And then they can bring in their MCU version of Wolverine who is likely younger, and probably a good bit shorter, and I think audiences will accept him.

MosquitoFarmer - 11/20/2023, 11:01 AM
@Kurne - I think people are fine seeing someone else in the role, especially the folks that actually complain about such things. But it's also still really exciting to see him in this film under the circumstances.

@Jackraow21 - 1000% agree. This is the emotional impact I need from this Wolverine’s end.

Jackraow21 - 11/20/2023, 11:40 AM
@ShortandAngry - Exactly! Would be quite awesome if done right, and ripped right from the comics too.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 11/20/2023, 11:47 AM
@Kurne - I understand that to be Hugh and to have been around as the character since the beginning of the comic-movie boon is something special. I'm not a big Marvel guy so I don't understand the hate towards Jackman being the character (like, he's too tall? who friggin' cares?!) It's a very cool fan service and the general public will think it's pretty great to see Ryan and Hugh together.
Cyclonus
Cyclonus - 11/20/2023, 3:52 PM
@Jackraow21 - Agreed! To me they need to have Jack just be the Old Man Logan version of Wolverine and then have different/main Wolverine for the MCU.
Jackraow21
Jackraow21 - 11/20/2023, 7:57 PM
@lazlodaytona - The number of people who care about Wolverine’s height is very small. They’re just very vocal about it on the internet. Most moviegoers don’t know or care that he’s short in the comics, and even people I know who read comics and do know this don’t care.
Blastaar
Blastaar - 11/22/2023, 1:22 AM
@lazlodaytona - Because being short is an integral part of the character's image. That's like making Colossus or short dude.

Wolverines are known for being ferocious, and resilient LITTLE animals that have been known to take down animals several times their size, the size of a Wolverine is the most impressive part of the animal. Hence why the character was named Wolverine, not just because of the claws.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 11/22/2023, 5:40 AM
@Blastaar - well. ok. you put it like that it makes sense. thanks man
Blastaar
Blastaar - 11/22/2023, 10:54 AM
@lazlodaytona - No problem, a lot of people don't care because they don't understand the nuances of certain characters, and those nuances are very important, whether it be a visual or personality trait. Comic book characters are very image based because its a very visual media.

Taking away some visual attributes of certain characters can take away why the character is named how he/she is in the first place.
Sometimes its not integral to the character's name but is still important, like Cyclops is SUPPOSED to be a tall, slim, and handsome but athletic dude, is this why he's named Cyclops, obviously no but the way he looks defines A LOT about him. Scott Summers would be an ectomorph in body type.
