SUB-ZERO
Real Name: Kuai Liang
Age: 32
Height: 6' 2" (1.88 m)
Weight: 210 lbs.
(Powers and Abilities)
Having descended from a race of Outworld inhabitants known as Cryomancers, Sub-Zero has innate ability to control ice in many forms. Throughout the span of the series, Sub-Zero's powers have continued to evolve. Aside from flash-freezing opponents, Sub-Zero also has the ability to instantly conjure up an ice statue of himself to act as both a scapegoat and a 'landmine' of sorts as any who touch it instantly flash freeze. Due to the Dragon Medallion's addition to his arsenal, Sub-Zero's powers have increased significantly, now able to form weapons out of ice. Exactly how powerful he is storyline-wise is unknown. His former ally Frost only knows how to make ice daggers, while Sub-Zero, due to the Dragon Medallion, can form a giant sword named the Kori Blade. As a member of the Lin Kuei, Sub-Zero has learned to be skilled in many forms of hand-to-hand combat. The Dragon Medallion and his ancestral armor increased and amplified his martial arts and ice-related abilities, as shown in his Deception Arcade ending. He can even go as far as freeze the moisture within the air into complex shapes such as swords. Throughout the Mortal Kombat series, Sub-Zero's abilities have grown more powerful; he can even transform his body into a liquified state, solid state or transform his body into solid ice at will. Raiden has commented that Sub-Zero is more powerful than his brother.
(Signature Techniques)
* Ice Freeze: Sub-Zero sends a blast of ice horizontally towards the opponent to temporarily freeze them in place for a free hit. He could also freeze opponents in midair, if timed correctly. In the earlier Mortal Kombat games, if Sub-Zero were to freeze the opponent twice, the second iceball would defrost the opponent and freeze Sub-Zero, setting him up for a free hit. Like Scorpion's Spear, it has had different depictions. In MK1, it is depicted as frozen liquid while in MKII to MKT, it is depicted a series of ice shards; From MK4 onward it is an energy blast of ice condensed into a spherical form, but in Armageddon, it is depicted as a strong beam of energy. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, the Ice Freeze can also perform a small bit of damage, even to enemies who are immune to being frozen by the move.
* Slide: Sub-Zero slides across the floor, knocking the opponent off their feet. It is assumed Sub-Zero slides by freezing the soles of his feet. This move was later given to Frost. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Sub-Zero can perform an uppercut or a throw a snowball-like projectile after executing the Slide. In MK 2011, he leaves a trail of ice behind.
* Ground Ice: Sub-Zero freezes the floor and whoever steps on the circle of ice will temporarily slip all over the place, setting the opponent up for a free hit. This move was also later adapted for Frost. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, the Ground Ice manuever can be upgraded to allow Sub-Zero to freeze the ground around him in a radius affecting multiple enemies or even create chunks of ice to pop opponents into the air. In MK 2011, the opponent is frozen to the ground.
* Ice Clone: Sub-Zero creates an ice statue of himself anywhere he chooses, and anyone who touches it will freeze.
* Ice Shaker: Sub-zero emits a wave of cold air from his body freezing anyone or anything near him.
* Ice Shower: Sub-Zero shoots ice straight overhead which falls back down atop his opponent. He can shoot it close, mid way, or far away to freeze the opponent. In Armageddon, instead of falling on the opponent, the ice goes over them, freezing and suspending them in the air.
* Cold Shoulder: Sub-Zero rushes the opponent with his shoulder, leaving a trail of ice behind him on the ground.
* Freezing Teleport: Sub-Zero's body becomes ice, falls to the ground, and reappears next to his opponent.
* Icy Counter: Sub-Zero quickly covers himself in a sheet of ice. If an opponent attacks him physically whilst in this state, they will automatically be flash-frozen as Sub Zero disappears and reappears behind the opponent with his Kori Blade in hand to strike them down.
* Ice Nugget: Sub-Zero makes a nugget out of ice above his opponent, which comes crashing down onto the opponent. It is unblockable.
* X-Ray Move: Sub-Zero freezes the ground beneath the opponent's feet. Afterwards, a giant spike consisting of ice pops up and propels the opponent towards him. He grabs the opponent's liver and crushes it before applying a brutal headbutt to their skull.
(Fatalities)
* Spine Rip: Sub-Zero punches into an opponent's neck, and tears out their spine and skull. This fatality was taken directly from his older brother. This was later used as a finisher in Armageddon.
* Skeleton Rip: Sub-Zero rips the whole skeleton out of his opponent's body, pulling it from the spine.
* Deep Freeze Uppercut: Sub-Zero deep-freezes his opponent, then uppercuts their upper body, shattering it in the process.
* Ice Grenade: Sub Zero creates a small orb of ice and launches it at the opponent. It lodges within their chest and detonates, causing them to explode from within.
* Freeze and Throw: Sub-Zero does the first part of the Deep Freeze Uppercut, only now he rips the head off, slides away, then throws the head at the opponent, shattering the body and head.
* Ice Breath: Sub-Zero breathes icy breath at his opponent, who falls back and shatters upon contact with the floor.
* Below Freezing: Sub-Zero freezes the legs of his foe and shatters them, then stomps on his opponents body causing their head to explode.
* Frozen Beatdown: Sub-Zero grabs the opponent and presses them over his head. After freezing the opponent, Sub-Zero breaks them into pieces with his own hands. In MKvsDCU, Sub-Zero throws the opponent on the ground, shattering them.
* Freeze Kick: Sub-Zero freezes his opponent and kicks them. The opponent is smashed to pieces after the kick. This is done differently to Frost's version of Freeze Kick.
* Torso Rip: Sub-Zero freezes his opponent from the feet up to the waist. Then he rips the oppenent's torso off.
* Freeze and Shatter: Sub-Zero rips the opponent's spine out then freezes the opponent's body and he smashes the body with the spine.

SCORPION
Real Name: Hanzo Hasashi
Age: 32 (at death), Immortal
Height: 6' 2" (1.88 m)
Weight: 210 lbs. (95 kg)
(Powers and Abilities)
Being the vengeful specter he is, Scorpion is most associated with the element of hellfire, a darker variant of the Earth-related fire element. Scorpion only seems to use the element to confirm the death of his opponents. As a specter, Scorpion is immune to death as his soul is still bound by revenge, allowing him to endlessly chase his targets until they have been silenced. He has the ability to teleport, often used in the form of surprise or ambush attacks. In addition, Scorpion no longer has a face. The mask (and the skin behind it) is a disguise that hides his ghastly skull, from which he can spew forth lethal shots of hellfire. The scope of Scorpion's powers on how long he remains in his abode, the NetherRealm. This proves to be advantageous to him when he pursued Quan Chi in the depths of hell, whose magic is diminished by the power and nature of the realm. It is unknown how powerful Scorpion would have been had he'd stayed in the NetherRealm without the concern of chasing Sub-Zero, and later, Quan Chi. Like many ninja, Scorpion is well-versed in the art of armed kombat, having wielded various weapons throughout the tournaments, from axes to the most recent twin Ninjato. Scorpion's most recurring weapon is the Spear, a kunai attached to a sturdy rope, representing Scorpion's "Stinger". At times, the spear would be empowered with hellfire for more power. Various depictions of the spear had been made before Deadly Alliance. In the comics, it was shown as a chain tied to a mace and in the movies, it appeared as a sentient serpentine creature that spawned from within his own hand. In Deception, Scorpion is empowered by the Elder Gods to combat Onaga. Indeed, the power-up proves sufficient as he is able to defeat the Dragon King, who was unfazed against the combined might of Raiden, the thunder god and Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, two of the most powerful sorcerers in the series.
(Powers and Abilities)
Bloody Spear: Sending out a rope with a tipped Kunai at the end, it impales itself into the victim's chest, allowing Scorpion to pull him or her through the air towards him for a free hit, as well as cause a small bit of damage. This move often follows the words, "GET OVER HERE!" or "COME HERE!" (In Shaolin Monks, he —albeit rarely— says profane versions of both phrases). This is Scorpion's signature move. In "Shaolin Monks", the move could be upgraded so as to be used a whip-like weapon. It was originally believed that Scorpion's spear was actually a snake-like creature spawned from the palm of his hand when really it was a simple kunai, and it was thrown from his belt as seen in newer games such as Deadly Alliance and Deception (or in the case of MK vs. DCU launced from a small device on the underside of his gauntlet) it is not the snake like picture as depicted elsewhere.
Hellfire Punch: Teleporting behind his opponent he connects with a punch called the Teleport Attack In Deception and Unchained; Scorpion gained this attack as a kick instead of a punch, however he regained this attack as a punch in Armageddon, whilst the kick form of this attack is given to Chameleon. In Shaolin Monks, the move could be upgraded so as to leave behind a burst of fire when he vanishes.
Aerial Back Teleport Punch: Scorpion performs his hellfire punch in the air.
Forward Hellfire Punch: Scorpion jumps forward doing his Hellfire Punch without teleport.
Leg Takedown: Scorpion trips his opponent with a leg scissor takedown.
Air Throw: Scorpion throws his opponent while in the air.
Fire Breath: Removing his mask to show his flaming skull, he spews fire on his opponent.
Hellfire: Scorpion summons the fires of Hell to burn his opponent from underneath.
Flaming Backflip Kick: Scorpion performs a backflip kick followed by a trail of fire.
Self Immolate: Scorpion releases a blast of hellfire from his body.
X-Ray Move: Scorpion teleports underneath some flames before throwing a brutal punch to the opponent. His punch shatters pieces of the skull, causing them to fall over. He then walks over and stomps on their chest.
(Fatalities)
Toasty!: Scorpion's signature fatality. Scorpion takes off his mask, revealing a skull face, and breathes fire at his opponent, burning them alive and causing them to explode (usually resulting in Dan Forden squealing "Toasty!"; in Mortal Kombat 4 Forden will say "Toasty! 3D!" owing to it being transferred to a new graphic dimension). For an unknown reason in Shaolin Monks, it was renamed to "Flame", although Forden still says "Toasty!" afterwards at random. The fate of the opponent's body had differed in each game. In the first game, the opponent was merely reduced to a skeleton instantly which then fell to its knees. In the second, the opponent would flail their arms forward as the skeleton was still burning until it exploded. In the third game, the opponent's skeleton would burn for a few minutes before crumbling into a pile of charred bone. By the fourth game however, the opponent's flesh would merely burn without removal of skin, meat or flesh.
Spear Slice: Scorpion takes out his signature kunai, slices his opponent across the throat, then slices the unlucky individual through the hip, his or her torso falling to the ground. In MK:SM, this was changed to a backhand followed by Scorpion stabbing the opponent with the kunai, then ripping his or her body across the blade embedded in his or her stomach. Scorpion rips the torso off, then raises it in victory in this version.
Annihilation: Scorpion goes into his victory pose as the ground begins to shake violently. Moments later, he and his opponent are automatically transported to Scorpion's Lair where numerous of his dead clan the Shairai Ryu members rise from the ground to utterly destroy the opponent. The Fatality is presumed to be brutal enough to fade to black as the opponent is beaten before a splat and an intense scream is heard. In the console ports of UMK3, instead of an army of Scorpion clones coming to maul the opponent, the opponent emolated by no visible means.
Scorpion Sting: Scorpion morphs into a giant scorpion and rips the opponent's torso with his tail.
Spear Shot: Scorpion tosses his spear at the opponent's head. As the kunai is lodged in it, Scorpion begins to violently pull on the rope until the head breaks off.
Head Rip: Borrowed wholesale from the original Sub-Zero in an ironic twist, Scorpion plunges his hand into the victim's neck and promptly rips the head off with the spine still attached.
Hellish Dismemberment: Scorpion fires his Spear to rip off the opponent's arm. He fires it off once more to rip off a leg. As the victim pleads for mercy saying, "No. No! NO!!" Scorpion slowly walks over to the opponent, holds their head and promptly snaps their neck, swiftly ending their life.
Lava Pool: Scorpion manifests a pool of lava below him and descends into it whilst a second drags the opponent in as the victim is burned by the hellfire. Moments later, the body is thrown back out of the pit, now reduced to a skeleton.
Severing Stinger: Scorpion unleashes his sword and slices his opponent's torso. He then cuts his opponent's throat and delivers a powerful kick which sends their torso and head off their body. As the head comes falling down, he slices it in half.
Leg Cut Decapitation: Scorpion unleashes his sword then he cuts enemy's legs in half making him stand such way. Then he decapitates the enemy, catches his head and rises it up as a trophy.
