Fan-fic: Batman: Global Domination: Part 3

GOTHAM CITY
The Batmobile comes to a stop at Strange’s house. Batman walks inside.

Strange: “Ah, Bruce. Hello.”
Batman: “Where’s Alfred?”
Strange: “He arrived earlier. I’ll get him.”
He walked out of the room. Bruce walked to a chair in a dining room, and sat down. Strange walked back to the living room, connected to the doorway, with Alfred. At gunpoint. The pistol was at his back. Batman quickly got up.
Batman: “I told you to not make me regret it.”
Strange: “I tried to break you by corrupting Harvey. Now i will kill the one person you have left. The one who has been there for you since the beginning. And now he dies, because of the man who took everything.”
Batman; “Don’t do this Strange.”
Strange: “I already have.”
BANG!!!
Batman: “No!!!”
Alfred’s body dropped to the floor.
Batman: “No! No.”
Strange: “I have taken your parents, your best friend, I have taken a year of your life, and now, the only family you have left. How does it feel?”
Batman: “You bastard.”
Strange: “You wanted to kill that goon who pulled the trigger. Joe Chill. That’s why he was murdered. To deny you the pleasure. And now, that pleasure will be denied again.”
Strange put the gun to his forehead, and pulled the trigger. His body dropped to the floor. Batman looked at it, and rushed to Alfred.
Batman: “Alfred. Alfred, stay with me. Please. Don’t die. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I got you into this. I’m sorry.”
Alfred: “No. I’m sorry that...I tried...to talk...you out of it...Bruce.”
Batman: “Don’t die. Please. Please don’t die. You can’t die!”
He checked Alfred’s pulse. Nothing. He picked up Alfred’s body, and carried it outside.

THE BATCAVE
Batman is looking down a large chasm in the Batcave. He stares at his cowl.

The Next Day

WAYNE MANOR
People are crowded in the main room. Bruce stands alone, against a wall.

Talia walks over to him.
Bruce: “Hi, Amanda.”
Talia: “It’s Talia. Why are you doing this? Your butler died. He was all you had.”
Bruce: “It was already planned. Can you leave me alone?”
Talia: “No. You defeated Ubu. That isn’t easy.”
Bruce: “I defeated a man two feet taller than him, with inhumanly large muscles.”
Talia: “Venom, yes.”
Bruce: “Lazarus. It’s Venom.”
Talia: “It is. Ubu used it, but barely.”
Bruce: “Look, what do you want?”
Talia: “I don’t agree with my father. He believes that humanity is destroying itself, that it is in need of a ruler. Or, that it must be wiped out.”
Bruce: “You want to take down your father? With my help?”
Talia: “He wants to kill everyone. I don’’t want that to happen.”
Bruce: “This is obviously a trap.”
Talia: “Well, I’m the only chance you have at finding Ra’s.”
Bruce: “Where do I go?”
Talia: “I’ll find you.”

All the guests have left. Bruce walks through an empty hall.

The Next Day

WAYNE ENTERPRISES
A man in a black suit walks into Bruce’s office.

“Um...Mr. Wayne?”
Bruce: “Yes? What is it?”
“A Miss Amanda Nelson is here to see you.”
Bruce: “Send her in. Now, please.”
“Yes, Mister Wayne.’
Talia walks in.
Bruce: “Okay, where is he?”
Talia: “Please, Mr. Wayne. Don’t worry. I’ll tell you.”
Bruce: “Tell me now.”
Talia: “I just want to warn you.”
Bruce: “What?”
Talia: “Do not underestimate Ra’s. The Pit is his greatest strength. And his greatest weakness.”
Bruce: “What do you mean?”
Talia: “Short-term madness. He will become cocky. Otherwise, you could barely beat him. You will have to force him to use the Pit.”
Bruce: “I’ll have to hurt him more than he can handle?”
Talia: “You will have to kill him.”
Bruce: “No.”
Talia: “He has died countless times!”
Bruce: “I won’t!”
Talia: “You won’t be taking it. The Pit can-”
Bruce: “I can’t. Too many already. No.”
Talia: “Then there is one plan. But it is suicide.”
Bruce: “What is it?”
Talia: “You destroy the Pit.”
Bruce: “I’ll take suicide.”

THE BATCAVE
Bruce puts the cowl over his head, and climbs into the Batmobile.

GOTHAM CITY
The Batmobile zooms through the streets of Gotham.

It comes to a stop near the manhole. The entrance to Ra’s base. Batman climbs out of the car, and rips open the grate. He climbs down, into the sewers, and starts to walk. He comes to a door, and opens it, walking into the dark room. He presses his hands against a wall, and lifts a portion. He presses a button, now revealed, and slides the portion back down. The right wall starts to shake, moving upwards, to reveal a large room, filled with tubes carrying Lazarus. Batman started walking.

THE BATCAVE
The cave is empty. Nothing moves.

Then footsteps.

UNDER GOTHAM
Batman continues to walk. He sees a large door, and pushes it open.

He comes to a smaller door, and opens it, coming to a rectangular room, with plants growing wildly, and two statues of Ra’s. Talia is at the top of a small staircase.
Talia: “You came.”
Batman: “Why wouldn’t I?’
Talia: “It was obviously a trap.”
Batman: “Where is it?”
Talia: “Beyond this door. Come.”
She walked through a doorway, and into a stone, circular chamber. At the far end, a bubbling green liquid sat in a pit.
Batman: “That’s it?”
Talia: “Yes.”
Batman: “How do I destroy it?”
Talia: “Lazarus isn’t naturally occurring. If you put one more chemical in it, then you get something else entirely.”
Batman: “Do you have one?”
Talia: “No.”
Ra’s: “Talia!”
Talia’s head dropped, but a large smile crossed her face.
Ra’s: “What were you doing here? Detective.”
He is wearing black body armor, with soft material, for mobility.
Batman: “What are you planning?”
Ra’s: “All in good time Detective. All in good time. Of course, Ihave all the time in the world. I have a question.”
Batman: “What?”
Ra’s: “How is it, that you have lost so much, yet you still don’t use the Lazarus?”
Batman: “Because I don’t need that comfort. I can do as much as I can now, and others will do the same. Because Dick, and Alfred, they’re both dead. And they should be dead. Because it wasn’t going to happen any other way.”
Ra’s: “How noble. So you still refuse to succeed me?”
Batman: “What do you think?”
Ra’s: “I think that you will die. And no one will care. Because to the people, your a vigilante, a man that runs across their rooftops, a man that few have seen. A man that can turn on them at any moment.”
Batman: “I will stop you Ra’s. But I’m not going to kill you.”
Ra’s: “Good. Don’t waste time.”
Batman: “What are you planning?”
Ra’s: “I told you before. We find those who help us, who innovate us, we give them the Pit. and let the rest die out like the filth they are. I will not see the world destroyed. Only those who help the human race, will live.”
Batman: “Your insane.”
Ra’s: “No. That only happens when I use the pit.”
He backs up, towards the Pit. He’s at the edge.
Batman: “Don’t do this.”
Ra’s fell back. His body was absorbed by the Lazarus, and Talia ran out of the chamber. A hand burst from the chemical, and Ra’s came out, looking to be in his late thirty’s. He pulled out a sword.
Ra’s: “Do you still refuse to use the Pit?”
He lunged at Batman.

Talia ran through the streets of Gotham. She dodged people, she didn’t stop, only slowing down when Wayne Manor came into view.

Ra’s’ sword was coming down. Batman placed both palms on it, stopping the weapon. He kicked Ra’s in the stomach, and lunged out of the way of another attack. He threw a batarang, kneeling, that hit Ra’s. Ra’s regained his footing, and ran towards Batman. He rammed into him, then grabbed the back of his neck, and slammed his head into a wall. He punched Batman, and dodged when a punch came his way. Ra’s kicked Batman’s face, again and again. He didn’t stop.
Ra’s: “Do you still refuse to join me?”
He kicked him again, letting Batman fall on the floor. He got up, and ran at Ra’s. He stopped in the center of the room, threw a batarang, and ducked. Ra’s’ sword flew overhead. Batman stood up, and ran at Ra’s, who grabbed his fist, and punched his neck. Batman fell on the ground, and Ra’s kicked his stomach.
Ra’s: “Do you refuse!?!”

Talia walked into the Batcave. she saw someone at the Batcomputer. She pulled out a katana, and stood expressionless.

Talia: “Who are you?”
“I’m Catwoman.”

Ra’s grabbed Batman’s neck. Batman kicked Ra’s, and grabbed his wrist, as his hand flew at him. Batman twisted Ra’s arm, put it behid his back, and kicked his legs. Ra’s dropped to the floor.
Batman: “Yes. I refuse.”
Ra’s screamed, and flipped Batman onto his back. Ra’s stood up, and slammed his foot into Batman’s face. Red started to cover the bottom of Ra’s boot.

Catwoman kicked Talia’s face, and ducked, avoiding her sword. Talia tried to kick Catwoman, but she grabbed Talia’s ankle, and kicked her leg, causing Talia to collapse. Selina grabbed her sword, as Talia kicked Catwoman’s legs. She fell, but pushed herself up, kicking Talia’s stomach. She stuck the sword in the ground, and kicked Talia’s face again. Catwoman grabbed the back of Talia’s head, and slammed it into the sword’s handle. Then again. Talia dropped to the floor of the Batcave, unconscious.

Ra’s crouched next to a Batman, who is covered in blood. He smiles, and grabs Batman’s neck.

Catwoman is on the Bat-bike. She stops at the manhole, and drops into the sewers.

Ra’s presses harder against Batman’s neck.

Catwoman races through the hallway, towards the giant door.

Ra’s: “It is a shame you refused the Lazarus, Detective. Now you must die.”
Catwoman: “No. He doesn’t.”
Ra’s didn’t let go of Batman’s neck.
Catwoman: “This is the time when you let go of his neck, you try to fight me, and I beat you to a bloody pulp.”
Ra’s: “You’re Batman’s partner, aren’t you. Or, you used to be.”
He let go of Batman’s neck, and walked towards Selina. He clenched his fist, and threw a punch. Catwoman grabbed his fist, and punched him. Then again, and again. Ra’s fell down, and Selina grabbed the sword, embedded in the wall. She walked towards Ra’s.
Batman: “Don’t do it.”
Catwoman looked at Batman, and stuck the sword into Ra’s body.
Batman: “That won’t stop him.”
She walked out of the room. Batman slowly got up, and walked towards Ra’s.
Batman: “Why me?”
He answered, weakly, and gasping for air.
Ra’s: “Whenever I...entered...the Pit, I feared what would come out. I needed another. Don’t let them use the Pit again. But don’t...destroy it. I want them, spread...over...”
And at that instant, Ra’s al Ghul, the man who had died countless times, died again.

Batman returned to the chamber, holding a torch. He crouched next to Ra’s body, and burned it.

Batman climbed out of the sewers, holding a jar. The Batmobile was gone. He got on the bike, and went to Wayne Tower. Wayne Enterprises. Soon, he stood at the top, looking down on Gotham. He opened the jar, and spread his ashes from the spot Ra’s believed in. The one place tried to not destroy. To him, it was a beacon of hope.
