Highly doubt it.

After 10 years of playing Clark Kent and not wanting to wear the Superman costume, Tom Welling won't do this.

They couldn't get him to be Superman for the final Smallville episode, let alone a whole new series.

@Leeholland: The suit had nothing to do with Welling, the premise of the show was to show the origin of Superman, BEFORE he officially became him and wore the suit. Welling may have said he didnt want to wear it on the show, but that would only have been to protect the show's integrity.

But I agree, it's very unlikely. Never trust IMDB

I dont see this happening. @leeholland, It doesn't matter what Tom Welling wanted I wouldn't think, when you have a contract, you do what the studio says and shut up, or lose a lot of money. They could have put him in a clown suit with the S on it at the end and told him to shut is face. I didn't really watch the show or care for it, so i don't know how much creative control Tom would have had, but I dont think it would have been much at all seeing as he started the show at a young age as a complete unknown.

I call BS. I loved Smallville, and would love to see this if they did it but I HIGHLY doubt they will.

From K-site:

Sorry, Metropolis Is Not Happening

We're starting to get e-mails about a page on the Internet Movie Database about an "upcoming television series called Metropolis" starring Tom Welling and Erica Durance.

Unfortunately, this is another case of IMDb taking articles that are user-submitted, including wishful thinking from someone with an overactive imagination. It's not happening.

Warner Bros. has a new Superman movie, The Man Of Steel, out in 2013, when this would be purportedly happening. But more importantly... as much as we should "always hold on to Smallville," to spread false information like this is stupid and wrong. It's leading people on to believe something that's not true.

Not to mention, shouldn't Tom, Erica, and others be allowed to move on and do new things?

So, whoever it was who submitted it to IMDb as "fact" - you're an idiot. And if you're a "news source" that hopped on this fake news, you're even worse.

Remember IMDb submissions also said Laura Vandervoort and Kristin Kreuk were appearing in the "Finale," and that fake fan rumors said Michael Rosenbaum would be a series regular in Season 10. Didn't happen, and never was going to happen.

Thankfully, if I want to see Super-action with Tom, Erica, and the rest, there'll be the complete series DVD in just a month.

There are only 5 words in this entire article and you managed to spell 2 of them wrong. Actually this isn't even an article. It's just a screenshot of completely unreliable news source. So congratulations, you're an embarrassment to the internet.

Can't wait for the sequal!

tom welling had no choice. Whether he wanted to or not. WB didn't want him in it because they didn't want fans to think of him as superman. They wanted people to think of henry. Personally i'd have preferred welling to be playing superman in the new movie. He could have bulked up more and he will always be clark kent in my eyes

I would believe this if it was from someone other than IMDb cause we all know its not reliable at all

yo bud, you misspelled the word "Possible".

Just thought I'd let you know so you can change it.

but i doubt this'll happen. And quite frankly, after waiting for 9 seasons, 21 episodes and an hour and 40 minutes to see him in the supersuit for 15 minutes, I don't really care/ want them to start a new season.

Tom Welling was a director and an executive producer on the show for last 2 seasons.

10 Reasons this shit ain't true:
1) Tom Welling refused to wear the costume for the final episode
2) Tom couldn't wear the costume anyway due to being a bit overweight in the gut area according to some rumours
3) Smallville was shit and cannibalized the entire Superman mythos
4) Erica Durance has already signed on for a new show
5)IMDB is possibly the most unreliable source on the internet, second only to Wikipedia
6) See reason 3
7) It would interfere with the Man Of Steel movie
8) Smallville managed to shit on all its fans simultaneously by refusing to show Superman in costume, although reason 2 may have been part of the cause of this
9) See reason 6
10) Smallville doesn't deserve a sequel

No offense kid, but you should probably delete this article. Even the editor was taking the piss out of it.

Moonwalker1991

Doubtful. Like the idea, but a spin off should have happened a long while ago. Heck, the show should have ended around season five when Clark was in college. I would have liked to have seen Clark balancing school and moving into working at the Daily Planet and eventually becoming Superman. But... yeah, didn't happen and besides the fact that this is clearly fake, it's a little late for a "Sequel". Like I said, doubtful.
