Superman: Doomsday.....

Superman: Doomsday.....

A fan cast of how I think DC could successfully, make a come back movie for the superman NAME, without making a continuous serise of movies off of him like spiderman attempted. Just ONE movie that could make people think "OH COOL" about Superman again.

Take him out of the steriotype, and INTO the badass'ness, Not of his character (Example:Batman, BLack Lightning, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter) But the bad ass'ness of his sega, his story, how his genre bleeds the story of how nearly ininate power is stiffled down to help one sliver of life in the universe, and matter.

Lets face it superman is almost like a god, he has infinate possiblities of what he can do, that means multitudes of possible actions scenes on the big screen, I dont have to remind you of any of that. And while action sequences could make the man, would it be able to TELL the man of steels' story, or tell a story people wont forget.

One memerable story of his I'm sure all of you know, the criptic one of doomsday. Yes Doomsday, litterally thought up and created by supermans originators for the soul purpose of killing off earths hero in an irreversable way.

While this wood certainly stick, "Superman dies in this movie" is very anti climatic as a plug for the movie, so keep it low key for those who dont know the story-line, make it allude to the fact that superman may die.

Lets face it everyone who knows more about superman then his name knows that a bald guy richer then Walmart has a sliver of rock that glows in the dark and makes superman squirm with a look that looks like he's jizzing, but a one on one struggle agaisnt a super being as bad ass in power as him, is something to make audiences on the edge of their seats, IF preesented right.

Batman begins did what other batmen hadn't, it took the story of the batman from the begining and went in depth with his origin but the focal point of this wasn't just starting from how he became batman, but the process, both mental, and in his soul, in Tim Burtons, as a boy he wasn't batman, and as an adult, he was. Chris Nolans showed us an aspect of batman we'd never seen before, how he as a MAN became batman, the same way we saw peice by peice, the making of the ironman suit in Ironman.

Same with J.J. Abrams with Star Trek, he took the whole concept and universe of Star Trek and pulled a LOST on it, what if someone killed a butterfly in the butterfly affect? What if Spock and kirk never met, both movies threw audiences for a spin, showed them something they'd never seen with Batman returns, Forever, and Robin, or the numerous star Trek movies.

Time tells:"New spins, bring crowds, thats why Transformers 2 did so poorly in comparison to its predecessor, we'd seen everything before, so the truck turns into a tank, big woop, whats else is new?"

Superman returns tried this in two ways, one it possitively WAISTED, and ruined the potential aspect of Awww'ing audiences with Supermans death and reviving.

Two, it dispicably RUINED the whole aspect of superman as a saga itself by giving him a SON, that has the same attributes as Bizzaro.

WHICH given is a compelling story twist, but NOT for a continuation story of superman, NOT as a comeback for his following, and NOT the way they did it in that movie with a little kid thats only exploit is to throw his inhaler away and chuck pianos.

For a head turning situation like supermans death to wow audiences, there needs to be a compelling story in it, as well as a bad ass fight to provide said DEATH, superman returns failed miserably at this.

I liked the elements of the cartoon of Superman doomsday, so i'll be barrowing bits and pieces of it.

Heres a spin or re-telling of Superman doomsday people wont expect from it, at least people who aren't major freaks for the comics.

Its year:(Whatever, some year relativly close in the 21st century) and Superman has already become an accepted, and hallowed part of earths' culture, some people have made cults to him, others have attempted to destroy him for fear of him, but finally he's found his notch on our blue marble of a planet.

He's older, which audiences wont be used to, we wont be going "Who is this superman who leaps buildings in single bounds...he's just a well reckognized unstoppable force, so the world in the movie, AND audience can be agasp when this unstoppable force falls.

Lois is also older, (By older btw I mean not in their 20's or even 30's) Jimmy is, Perry is, even Lex Luthor, who is dying due to the Kryptonite in his pocket he's kept around as an obsession with supermans destruction his one sliver of reminding himself that he CAN be killed, and always pushing him to the figuring out why he cant.

The movie begins with it being the morning or eve of Super-day, what everday metroplis uses to honor the man of steel, and yes, world leaders and people from different countries attempt to come to this event, he IS a world hero.

While there, inevitably someone draws him out and attempts to attack him, Mettallo, still with his Kryptonite rock he has in his chest though the rock is not as big as the place for it is, superman will comment on how its due to THAT many battles they've had were pieces get chipped off. He uses somebody as a hostage (still in debate if wether we should use the cliche' of Lois being the hostage), and when Superman comes to save them, the kryptonite is in her mouth, and surgically in her body, making him weak and Mettallo attempts to kill him. This fails as it only can and everyone goes "YAY" world wide.

Later that day, or in the week, superman arrrives at Lex Luthors penthouse, hideaway retreat he lives at on the coast of somewhere in North America, while Mercy runs the company for him in Metroplis. The reason for his retirement is of course the kryptonite caused canser, which he'll reveal to the audience after Superman has left in some monologue. Superman talks about how he knows he was behind Metallo, and how Lex has got to stop this pathologic obsession he has with ending him, he's had to save 2 cities, a ship full of people, and even a country in Africa of people, all in attempts Lex has used to kill him, putting litterally that many people at risk.

Lex retorts with the same, "If i'm such a threat kill me..."

He says that it wont be long before his need to kill superman using whatever lives he can will be so great he truely believes he'll endanger the whole planet, and everyone on it...JUST to kill him. (Forsight huh?)
And that he knows it can only be one reason...Lex is dying, he also guesses its because Lex see's it as his only way out of this life dedicated to bringing down him. And that if he tops this, he'll treat lex like he has the other villains who he's had no other alternative then to put down, he wont let his dying desperate attempts destroy more lives.

After he leaves from their chat, and flies away. Lex throws his brandy glass agains the window he left out of and begins coughing violently. Thats when he tells us,
"You think I'm that much of a coward? That I'd give up this JUST fight to bring down the one thing that rubs in the faces of humanity that...we are lower then the dust to one being...yet treats us as if he's one of us as if he ISNT a god......I would sacrifice (Idk something big, bilions more people) to continue this fight too bring him down.

He said, "Your world didn't just send you to us Kal-El, no they're just like the men who would send men with rabid dogs to kill with a gun, but the gun wasn't for the men they were to kill no...it was to kill the DOG who had killed the men when the dog had fulfilled its' purpose....and THIS...

(reveels kryptonite shard from his jacket pocket)

This is my gun...my reminder your world sent me...as a taunt, as a challenge...as reminder that you ARE not a god, that you CAN be killed....and to pursue for all of man kind, the answer to the canundrum...why you haven't been already, what will FINALLY be able to put you in balance with the rest of the universe that everything in Gods' creation MUST come to an end, and take another dormant form of that of the dust....cosmic or earth bound..."
(coughs)

But this tormenting...peice of rock that i've kept closer then my own right hand has finally...sprung the bell on its timer of time allowed to answer this riddle...I've failed....and its killing me, even though you fly up there for the world to worship you still find away to use a piece of your home to destroy me and everything I've hoped to create....I would have been a world power, men would litteraly had to bow to me as a unified world LEADER, from the mere placement of Corperate head of the largest company on earth to a political and international figure head......and YOU stole my god hood from me!"

(Now i know that he probobly wont verbalize this all on screen but thats the genral gist of where he is mentaly now so you know)

Anywhow, he goes to one of the Crystals he's stolen from the fortress of solitude, (Shows a flash back of breaking in on one of supermans adventures) and how he was able to make it out with 1 shard of holographic library database.

Well he gets call from his labs in Metroplis, saying that they finally cracked the secret to the crystals holographic projection, and that he'll want to see it.

Meanwhile, next day, at the Daily planet, Superman(aka clark kent) comes to work to meet lois, and perry, and the rest, as usual. Lois lane gives him the usual guff and drama about her day, being pretty much an A-hole, but there are also mid tones of flirtation between them that everyone can notice.

Finally Jimmy says, "Man, is it just me or have those two been even weirder since they got engaged?"

YES, she knows he's superman already, no more big reveal that happens in EVERY MOVIE, in this one she actualy already knows he's superman by now, again everyones older, and alot has happened. This is supermans supposed last chapter, so it would reason that alot has taken place alreeady, including Clark revealing his secret.

Clark has Lois at the fortress of Solitude later, wining dining her, aluding to a night of...intresting conversation afterwords, showing her the stars, and the northern lights, reminding her about how this was the place he proposed to her, and regailing after that about where he revealed to her he was superman after he'd saved her and she cried, or the fun of having to pretend that she was shocked at being proposed to when he did it again at the Daily planet and she out right made out with him on the spot to make everyone go WTF.

And how she cant wait for the big day that winter.

Meanwhile Lex is being flown from his house arrest retreat by helocpter to Metroplis where Mercy is there to meet him. She takes him down to the level that they have the crystal set up with dozens of machines to force it to play the holographic message from Jor-El.

They have cool, touch screen, sceincy way of doing it but finally they show the recording, and reveal it to be one of many crucial parts of the fortress, acting as a remote control beacon. How ever the crystal will destroy itself if sufficiant data is not provided to prove its superman talking, and the DNA samples from superman are abotu to run out, as his whole hand must be touchign the crystal. Lex could be using a hair strand or something from a fight, in fact (i'm thinking this up as i type, he he) the final break through Mercy and her team have in cracking the crystals functions could be a hair strand they took from the fight with Metallo a few days before on superman day.

Anyhow, Mercy asks Lex if he's going to ask how to destroy Kal-El, Lex says no it wouldn't betray its owner so blatently, no they would have to word that question very carefully, she asks how he'll know what to say, and he says luck.

ANYWAY, realising that his time is limited, Lex asks, "What is the purpose of the peice of the Fortress they stole."

Recording explains how he is in possesion of a what would be the equivlent of wireless remote to device to release creatures imprisoned in the Negativee Zone, it is encouraged not to do this thing, it would mean the destruction of earth.

Obviously Mercy, and the other sceientists advise Lex to heed the warning of the recording but Lex has an idea.

He asks if this creature trapped by kryptonians in the phantom zone, if released could be stopped, if it was released on earth. Wording it like a math problem to give him the answer he wants.

The simulation replies that aside from a weapon that could destroy half the planet if made in existance, the only solution would be: 3 Kryptonians, all endowed with the power from earths yellow sun, would be able to subdue the beast.

It also explains that the beast is a serial killing creation with the compullsion to only kill, a living bomb of death.

Lex then asks, could a single kryptonian defeat the creature, the simulation replies that the chances are slim but yes, but the kryptonian emerging alive has even lesser odds.

Which is all lex needed to know, immediatly after hearing this, he has the people who were in on the recording shot and killed (yes even mercy) and then orders the bodies to be desposed of and for the Crystal to be placed in an area of Canada that he ownes. Then without the men knowing it, he has his opperatives there punch in the final commands to release the creature (Doomsday)
Those who unwittingly do so are obviously killed instantly.

The last we see of Lex Luthor is him talking about how apparently destiny has corrected itself, he was meant to destroy the man of steel, even in his dying breath.

when its released, Doomsday wreaks havoc, likened to the cartoon, I liked the touch of showing how it had to instinctively kill....EVERYTHING, and show it kill a deer, or even a bird.

Well the staff the Daily planet is having a wedding shower some place and everyones having a jolly time when word hits that this DOOMSDAY creature is destroying everything and intentionally killing everyONE.

Superaman obviously wants to go out and fight it and of course Lois knows he has too but doesnt like it, talking about how since she's known who he was, and even when she had only her suspicions she'd always have a fear that THAT paticular mission at the time would be his last.

Well now we see the special affects and the well crafted fight scene splender only the CGI and coreagraphers of this age can do, and dont hold back, good a good director who can invision GOOD superman fight sequences with Doomsday that will BAFFLE audiences and remind them of how coool superman can be...
Lex will be in a building watching this on his TV and via window, one of the buildings next to him topple over from the fight onto the one Lex is in and its presumed he's dead.

The last two notes of the cartoon of Doomsday i'll steal from are the last parts of the movie.

1. Superman looks broken, defeated, with an actualy broken ...jaw maybe? leg? and looks up to see Doomsday about to kill a child in the rubbled streets, Superman drags the creature with a final burst of adrenaline, above the stratuspher until they see space, then uses them both as missile to break his fall WITH doomsday causing a massive earth quak was does almost even more damage, with tremmrs that can be felt even further miles then their actual fight.

Doomsday will die, and slowly so will clark, not before of course Lois rushes to his side and cries over him.

2. I like the element of superman being dead for real, then defying even THAT, cause he's frigging superman.

The funeral will be an international event, leaders, and people from all over will come to it, at the site of the battle where he saved the earth one last time. He's barried in a park built and dedicated to him at where his final fight was.

Lois, and Martha kent spend the rest of the day remembering him together, that night she puts the ring clark gave her in a drawer by her bed, and cries herself to sleep.

The next morning, she wakes up and goes to her drawer, to look for the ring, it isn't there. She panics then hears more panic outside.

Mirror the death of Jesus by having their be news that the grave site for Supermans body sunk like an imploding sink hole in the ground, where the tomb should be, where did the body go? did someone take it? is he still alive.

Lois will be at the grave site and see among the wreckage of the tombs disturbance, and see a glimmer, she goes by the police, slides down the sink hole to find it, and she finds in the hole, the ring that Clark had given her.

She cries in utter shock at it slowly smiling and looks up at the camera/sky as she is filmed from over head, then the camera rises/ lifts up/backs away, out of the sink hole, the park where we see police and fire trucks zooming down the streets to the grave, out of Metroplis, out of America, OFF of earth, past the moon, where we pass by a tan, bare shoulder, then stop at it and turn around so we're looking over the shoulder of the person from behind, looking at the sun...the camera then backs off a little showing the bare back of the man (Who DUH is Superman) then in an eyes' blink zooms out of the camera shot back (to earth)

THE END.

Interesting! I always wanted a Superman Doomsday movie. A movie that could truly shock the audience too and by so do well in the box office, while being critically acclaimed. This whole thing is interesting!

denn1- but huge is playing a older guy makes sense. still say superman should be younger like around bales age or a lil bit younger.

night- cause perry white is just a supporting character so you can change his skin color is nothing big or anything and it would cool if Chi McBride got the part.

Guys, I told you before, he's SUPPOSED to be older, that was the general idea of my editorial, this is years later after superman's been discovered, accepted, and settled on earth

I understand that he's supposed to be older, but he wouldn't be able to do any sequels considering that he would be pushing 45.

@NightAvenger, I see your point however I'm not wanting this movie made for a sequal souly, but more as just a movie to redeam superman's coolness, and Doomsday IS a last chapter story, sort of like the WALLSTREET movie coming out, its about the climatic end
joekerr93
joekerr93 - 9/15/2010, 5:06 PM
did anyone actually read the story because it says he is supposed to be older.

TheSoulEater - i personally think Hamm looks older and if they made him look a little bit MORE older (awful grammar i know) it would be perfect.

i love your story, but i think it needs more. you really only have metallo fight, doomsday's short life, and the end fight. this would be a cool way to give us an end, but there is more to the story, and this would basically be just like the animated movie (but better and more epic

i am also not sure about malkovich. his voice would sound too whiny (no offense meant towards malkovich, awesome actor) for luthor as opposed to bitter and cold

also this really belongs in fan fiction i think

overall, great job though
TheSoulEater
TheSoulEater - 9/16/2010, 8:39 AM
@joekerr39 Thank you for finally seeing it.

This is where tastes just differ i guess in the realm of Superman picking, cause while hamm would be decent, I've always like Jim as the Alex Ross Styled Superman type.

As for Lex, admittedly he's not as strong as we've come to accept Lex luthor as, but again as he is older, he's also dying, doesn't look like he's aged well, which is the idea, what I want is to show that despite his frailer frame, he still has every whit of evil he had in him in his young years, and if anyone can portray that, its John Malk man.

Yeah the story needs alot more, the fight scene should be way longer, longer then the Hulk's fight with Abomination for sure.

And yeah it is basicly the animated movie but way cooler, which was what i was going for, it respected superman and how cool he was and if given big screen comps, could rock the house.
