Teaser trailers for franchises (such as Transformers, Star Wars, CBMs) always give us goosebumps. They seem to come after all of the garbage previews of lame kids movies with talking animals or bombastic rom-coms, making their experiance much . It seems, however, that the teasers that get the biggest positive response are from Nolan movies. Teasers are designed to get the audience's attention, by showing a minute long clip. Usually teasers are the default trailer for a couple months before the official theatrical trailer is released. But in the end, doesn't it seem like the Teaser was better?
Some teasers are done so well that in some cases, it makes you forget the movie you bought your ticket for only because you're too focused on the teaser you just watched. I know its happened to me a few times.

So here is my top five Teaser trailers.

5. Return of the King

Return of the King's teaser trailer was a fantastic way to bring people to the end of a fantastic and memorable trilogy. The movie deserved all the awards it received at the Oscars, and all of the wonderful praise it got. Thanks to this trailer for kick-starting the hype.

4. Revenge of the Fallen

This trailer simply blew me away. It uses little dialogue to draw you in and the music teases you. I thought the moment it ended, 'This will be the best movie of 2009' Sadly, ROTF turned out to be a huge clunky mess, but I still adore this trailer. Awesome job of both creating and crushing my hopes, Bay!

3. Revenge of the Sith.

When this Trailer came out and they used clips from previeous Star Wars movies, I got the chills. With Ben Kenobi's speech, and the color of the picture, this teaser really draws you in and the anticipation for the final Star Wars grew to enormous lengths after this trailer came out. Well done, lucasfilm.

2. Inception

Personally, I think this movie is better than TDK. But I'm not here to give you my review of Inception, but the review of its awesome teaser. Mysterious, thrilling, wondrous, and thought provoking, Inception's teaser trailer is an undeniably epic clip. But its not the best Teaser out there...

1. The Dark Knight

By showing no clips from the movie, but using audio from the actors, The Dark Knight teaser redefines the word 'jizztastic', and when the Bat symbol dissolves and the joker card flies at the screen, you get the chills. They used the best line for any trailer, 'Starting tonight, people will die. I'm a man of my word.' I remember what movie I went to see-I am Legend. When this trailer popped up, I didn't care about Will Smith trying to save the world from an apocalypse. The thing I cared about was seeing Nolan's interpretation of the Joker.

But hey, that's my opinion. If you got any teaser trailers that are your favorite, comment below!

I'm not a huge Comic Book Geek, but the super hero movie genre has always excited me, and always will. I do not enjoy when people argue over CBMs like they're a religion, but i guess thats how most movie geeks are.

oh and if i had to really pic a side,
i mean really really really had to, then
DC, baby :)

but i really don't care about which is best. they both make me happy

@Marvel72
Dude I totally forgot about that one.
I thought it was cool however that they edited out the Twin Towers for the movie in respect for 9/11.

@Marvel72 that's why it's called a teaser trailer, it teases you by deliberately showing as little as possible to make you want more. It raises an enigma. But hey, whatever floats your boat dude.

I'm not necessarily nominating this trailer, but I will say this.... When I was a little kid, the Ang Lee Hulk teaser really effed me up. I was scared shitless, yet also extremely curious about what the monster looked like. (I had only a vague idea.) I remember after seeing that teaser, I became a Hulk fanatic. One of my classmates would sometimes come to school with a Hulk shirt, and I would freak out because I desperately wanted to see the monster. (This was before I had any idea how to use the internet lol.)

Wow. What an incredible teaser. That brings back so many memories. When I was younger, I didn't know much about Spider-Man outside the first movie. Make no mistake, SM1 was my favorite movie at the time. It just didn't occur to me that outside the cinema, Spidey has over 40 years of comics history to explore. The Spider-Man 2 teaser MADE me go out and explore that history.

*Sigh*.... it's a pity they're rebooting it all. But you know... I believe it's necessary. Spider-Man 3 succeeded at completely dismantling everything that the first two films worked to achieve. I just hope the reboot is part of the MCU. (Yes, I'm one of those guys who believes Marvel and Sony ain't telling us the whole story.)
